Wondering if Egan might have kicking game in him.. I've noticed that him as well as the rest of the team are concentrating on their own game. We've never really seen that before.
Webby might of found the key to unlock their talent..
May take a few more games but you never know could be in for a pleasant surprise against these chooks...

Watching the Roosters Dolphins game was an eye opener.

Reminded me a lot of old school Warriors upsets, wayyy back in the day when the big Warriors forwards were occasionally on their game and not tiring.

Incidentally I cannot see Redcliffe coming last this year.

Kaufusi played the Villasante/Joe Vagana role and terrorized them, more importantly he left dents in their hardware.

I do not see us doing that to the Roosters.

We don't have a hit man, not unless AFB takes a cup of Warriors late night special red bull before kick off....I cannot see us cashing in on their forward pack being bruised up already, because we do not play that type of game.

Just trying to imagine how we go about finding an alternate route to controlling the middle, I don't care how many the Chooks are missing, they are really well coached and drilled and we are more of a tacklebot defence than an offensive D line.

As such I expect their B line up to still use the ball in such a way that they make serious meters. They are adaptable like that, they can shift their playing style to suit, because they are the best/Storm/Panthers tier of team, the best in the world.

Someone posted Webster was talking wrestle, that could help, or depending on how we respond to the Reff picking on us, it could hurt.

You worry that Webster doesn't fully understand that we will not be 'allowed' to out wrestle anyone...(lock in loads of six agains Eddie).

Surely he knows the score, he has been in the Warriors box many times, so I take it he is going to try to test the will of the officials to the point where A) we handle the six agains because we are creating a tackling side (like the Chooks who were at one time the most pinged side in the comp yet were winning everything).

Option B) is we stop being a bunch of loser minnows and the Reffs take us seriously and cut us some slack like the Storm get away with (chicken and egg that one, how do you stop being ruled like losers since bias reffing is gonna stop you winning).

Both points are sides of the same coin, to get to be a side that is taken seriously you have to get pinged a lot and soak it up and show the Reff you are not in a game for participation medals, show them they are not being asked to Reff an upset win, show them you deserve to be treated the same as the other lot.

Excuse the Waffle, I am always cautious of new Warriors coaches talking about their work ons.

What I would rather hear from Webster...is that we are focusing on line speed. Something the Reffs are less free to use buggery with, something we can control.

Line speed is where I would like to see us competing against the Chooks since we can't bash them, we have a lot of fifty tackle forwards, use their gas to come up fast.

The Roosters will create a dozen serious scoring chances in any game against all the lesser sides. Line speed is the counter for that ridiculous type of threat. Always has been....hanging back and letting them come at you a dozen or more times with some of the best plays in NRL coaching is probably a losing scenario.

Someone on a podcast said the Warriors are $4.40 and Rorters $1.20 to win at Aussie bookies.
Either they're all delusional or the fix is in.

The narrative htey're spewing is the Roosters are a great team with a great coach, blah, blah... And will bounce back with a vengeance over the hapless Warriors who always fold like a cheap tent (when baffling refereeing decisons go against them) ..

Whereas the reality is Robinson's rorters have only won 4 of their last 13 first games and are always slow starters and ripped us off round 4 last year.

I got them at $5.24. Laughable odds, should we be favourites? No, but twice as less likely to win as Dogs vs Storm? C'mon....

Unbelievable.

From 11 'expert' tipsters, the only unanimous tip of the round is the Roosters.

ON A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD, I would make us 60-40 favourites, as our forwards should just monster them.
Honestly this is fantastic news! Love it when the Warriors are underdogs and written off. I am sure 25 years of recency bias has a role to play in this as opposed to fans of this team whose optimism has shot up after one game. Against the Roosters I also think our forwards and interchange are better and that we have a decent shot at winning. At the very least I want us to be competitive and show the grit in defense we did last week. In response to sup42 we do have players capable of bashing them up - take a look at Niukore and Barnett amongst others. On the back of any forward momentum we also have the smarts of Egan, the halves and Walker to take advantage - here's hoping!

Let's be honest though, they always predict us to be shit and we always think we are hard done by. Yet we prove them right year after year. There is only one way to stop it happening and that is winning

He has a close kicking game, got smothered when he was playing halves for Browny, so yeah hope Webby can unlock it from hooker to give us another option with the boot.

Walsh having a good bomb for example was very useful. Surely Te Maire Martin or Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad can learn this skill
Definitely you would think they would have more as well, perhaps take the general play kicks and bombs off SJ and keep him for RedZone stuff.

But Egan can kick, he was a quality half before the Warriors, so you would think he can surely put in the general play clearing kick.

Im hoping mixing the kicks up a bit will take the predictability out of the kick being from SJ, which the defense will put pressure on all day, we all know SJ doesnt kick well under pressure, yet can be brilliant without it.

Te Maire Martin needs to step it up this weekend with intensity, he just looked like he was filling the numbers, but to be fair it was game 1. Im very confident we will improve a lot once all players start playing to the level of the players around them and lifting each others game day intensity.

Webby is just so genuine that I know what he is saying is how he really feels, that is so rare in a coach and I think he will both be loved by the players but very respected as well.

He has set no bar for where the team will finish as he believes we can do better than setting mediocre goal. He is expecting quite a lot and I have to say, for the first time snce Cleary I feel we will be consistantly in the 8, if not top 4. Its all about the season just being a gateway to the final, if we put ourselves in the top 4 often enough we should reach a few finals and odds are we should win one in time.

Its just so refreshing to have a coach who knows the game, has a sense of humour, calls himself a kiwi already, has been watching most of our games since leaving after Cappys reign and lastly he is honest. If he been involved with some great mentors and systems. He was in my wanted coach, after the first penrith option said no, so Im happy. I did think we would get Slade as our 2IC though, Webby seems to rate him so hopefully that happens post Morgan. Agar is a good thing, Jones does add value with experience. Put Slade in there and its a solid coaching team, post Morgan.

Have you been on an off-season break from the Wahs mate? I've missed your 10 paragraph gameday essays seemingly typed in seconds, welcome back bro

My typing speed is more work related haha, been typing commercially for decades so am fairly quick, it all comes out, good or bad.

Plus Im a maniac cricket fanatic.hate is dishonest Coaches who give know insight to a club you pay money too.

I am very critical when I/Us fans believe something is wrong, my peeve peive is Coaches and Management who are not transparent. Webby appears transparent which I love. He is just a sincere good guy who knows a lot about Clubs, Management, Talent retention and so on. I believe he could not only deliver a premiership, in hopefully his next decade here, but he could also create the starts of a legacy for the club.

His post conferences will tell alot about him, when we lose big, as a change he has made in the club is having them take ownership of their development ie going through the camera reels each week, but identifying where they think they were weak or good and comparing that with Webby. When we lose Im sure he will take ownership but when we win big he will give the credit to the guys.

Who wouldnt want a coach like him, in any sport.

A small analysis paragraph on Webby for you W2D !

Kia ora Warriors whanau! Hope you are well super well!

Haven't been on the socials so haven't been active online but thought I would jump in and say hey and how excited round 1 got me for this season! At least we know we have a team that actually want to play proudly in the Warriors jersey now! Wooh! Have a great feeling and hoping we finally get some finals footy action but down for the ride no matter what!

PUMPED FOR THE GAME TOMORROW! First game of the season I am going to so I plan on being VERY LOUD haha to help get the boys over the line!

Anyway lets hope the boys gel even more after last week and we start the game strong and finish it even stronger! LETS GONE WARRIORS :D

I get the same impression. I don't want to hex the guy but he is giving me the same vibes as Ivan Cleary and Daniel Anderson.

Yep same, a lot of us on here are ultra critical, but I believe when something seems like a genuine big change Im all for giving credit. I just hope the boys buy into being accountable for their mistakes and working with the coach on a plan to improve it, ie Kosi is a big example of the outcome.

Hes so smart like Cleary and has the words like Anderson. I think in some ways he is even better. He knows he has a big lot of loyalty from the Warriors, but I think hes wanting results this season not next. Transparent, honest, inspiring, good coach and wont put up with people not being honest about their fitness, game day intensity and taking ownership in his process of self video review analysis each round before comparing with Webby. Love it.

And the team, I just love, we will need to look for another quality enforcer if AFB leaves, but outside that, we have SO much depth all of a sudden. I hope the attempt to have your kiwis look at the Warriors as the ultimate gateway to the NRL, but that will take some sucess.
