The only way I can see Walsh being traded out for the rest of the season is through the Storm putting on severe pressure on NRL admin and governance - it would not be a good look for Reece, us or the NRL ... so us 'refusing to release' is absolutely the right thing to do, but also smells a little like the NRL shifting the responsibility on and shielding their integrity... Warriors, always the NRL scape-goat...

I like the call to have him in 14 - it's just straight out good team selection, best use of resources

I think Volkman is seen as an Shaun Johnson replacement so the 6 is open for Asi to grab it or atleast take the inside running before Metcalf gets here.

If Volkman is seen as a replacement for Johnson, then he's seen as a running half ie a 6 rather than a 7, since that's what Johnson's always been, number on his jersey be damned.

If anyone's taking the 7 ie the organising half role, it's Asi or Metcalf.

I know some clubs run a 6 is running/organising half for one side, 7 is running/organising half for the other side trick, but that would seem to me to A) Be something the Warriors don't do at present and B) Take a good pre-season's work to bed-in if the Warriors ever wanted to try that trick...

If we were still in the running for the 8 I’d be filthy on all these late season transfers- damages the integrity of the competition I reckon.

Walsh is no where near a first grade player.
It’s the easiest call to make in this team.

Haha reading all the Aussie media this morning - warriors make huge call dropping “super star” Walsh etc etc 🙄 pretty sure they watch zero warriors games. He hasn’t played well all year!! Yea huge potential and offers a spark but currently let’s more points in than he scores/sets up. He’s not a star player yet!!

So true. Reminds me of when the Aussie media were giving us grief for letting 'superstar' Blake Green leave, despite him being completely over the hill and playing like a busted testicle for a year.

For me when we talk Shaun Johnson as a running half we’re talking past tense.

Volkman as his direct replacement works in terms of general kicking and the traditional role of a halfback, certainly more so than our other options in 2023.

I'd trade him for Will Warbrick, he's a beast. Makes lots of metres, is unstoppable close to the line and a major threat in the air. What do we have to gain if we hold him?

I agree with your comments, Warbrick is great under the high ball, played 7s for NZ and is highly rated by Clark Laidlaw the NZ 7s coach

What do you mean "IF", when we win most of our remaining games and a specific combination of Roosters/Eagles/Raiders/Dragons losing as much as possible we can totally make the 8 😅

You would think that ship has sailed as he already signed his contract with the Broncos and there was nothing mentioned. Not very Warriors like to not push what we got in return as their media team love to exaggerate any positive news especially when the club is going through a tough period.

Te Maire Martin could still be on the radar of the Warriors. He was being courted by the club prior to the Walsh release/Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad signing. Understanding is Te Maire Martin is trying to get back on the field/over his injury before proceeding further with his options for next year.

Surely Te Maire Martin/Niu would be surplus to requirements at the Broncos next year. Not sure I'm sold on Arthars yet. He is rather average. Sure he looks good in the Warriors colours but that's more to do with the lack of other options in that area.
