Appreciate others have already called this out, however those of you blaming the refs need a reality check. The refs didn’t cost us the game, our errors did along with poor leadership. Also those of you leading with the blame Walsh narrative - weren’t we already behind with all momentum in the Raiders favour by the time he even got on the field? Sure Walsh was ordinary when he finally got a chance, however given we were struggling to keep pace with the Raiders for the entire second half that chance came way too late. Same with Curran - was he injured? If not then why keep our best player on the bench for so long?

Typical result from a dumb team that have no belief in themselves.

To finish with a positive however - we’re playing a lot better than at the start of the season when we consistently served up some of the worst performances I’ve ever witnessed in the NRL.

Can someone here who has played the game of rugby league please tell us how hard it is to actually play?

This has to be the dumbest warriors team I can remember! 14 point lead was great at half time, but to not go out and go after the game in the second half is ridiculous.

No footy smarts from the halves kicking to corners and making the raiders work out of thier own end and backing up that fantastic defense shown in the first half.

I can only hope these guys get flogged in the pre season because they fucken deserve it. But jazz said they will have lots of fun so whatever that means 🙄

His collisions were intense and energy zapping.
It’s his stuff off the ball that is holding him back. A smarter opposition (Storm next week) would have targeted his lazy marker defence or the hole in our defensive line as he plodded back.

First game back in top grade though and hopefully he adjusts to the pace needed next week.

This has been said a lot on this message board but the 2021 and 2022 Warriors have been poor for mental health of their fans.
Getting to 14 to 0 at halftime and letting their fans think they would win. And then losing is mentally tough to swallow as a fan and the Warriors in 2021 and 2022 have been winning and then lost a game at least 10 times.
They are not healthy to watch. I had the choice between going out for dinner and watching on replay or watching live and I selected dinner and I don't regret it.
The players can't be enjoying these losses either. There is only so much they can take as well. Something has to give. More changes need to be made next week.
100%...watched the game on holiday in Perth chatting to and English who's a south's fan... Said we can't do 2nd half's... I said the refs do everything they can to make the game a contest... And it's such a momentum game... Felt quite dejected after the game... Oh and I was late to the pub to watch it and we were 12-0 up! Thought our defence in the 1dt half in particular was very good.. So some positive signs

Refs weren’t the reason we lost but geeees as soon as we wasted that captains Challenge there was no accountability and the calls def got worse. We just need to hold it the whole game, we will never win it anyway but at least it’s in the back of the refs mind…..

Jazz was horrible. I wouldn’t be sad if he got moved on, just too many mistakes!!

Overall we are still better under Stacey than Brown. I still think with the right coach (hopefully Webster will be that guy) a couple of good signings and being back at home we can improve fast. Cowboys ran 15th I think last year? We are currently a 8-13th placed team. It’s not like we are anchored to the bottom 3 like the dogs and tigers, they have more to do to be competitive than we do.

I thought the first half was good, first ten minutes great, with accuracy and good ball movement. Great scramble in defence on our own line as well.

2nd half, Canberra just demolished us up front got quick play the balls and Starling and Wighton just ripped us apart. We didn’t play poorly, we just don’t have the quality or star power to change momentum.

Good effort and some promise, but some players need to improve and some need to become depth rather than starters.

Wasn’t the worst effort- had a some calls go against us and the bounce of the ball seemed to favor them but I really felt like we lost it when Addin Fonua-Blake was off the field- we lost the middle and by the time he got back on they had all the momentum and the game was as good as gone tbh.
Unless we bring in another specialist prop it will be more of the same next year I’m afraid.

Also, sorry for re-post, but Gameday Chatter closed and I am genuinely curious.

Can someone let me know why players insist on knocking the ball dead in goal when it is close to the ground (mid-low percentage play IMO) rather than simply forcing it (i.e., the action required to get maximum points at the other end of the field)...
Yeah its a coaching thing IMO.

Just get to it first. Teddy always tries to get in his hands. Everything else is second to that. By holding it you ensure it ends up dead safely one way or another.

I think he needs a change of scenery to learn defensive awareness. Whenever there is a slomo replay of a try that we leaked he is always at the heart of the wrong defensive read we made.
I am please three teams are chasing him. Last night we put him in the shop window and he looked like a diamond in the rough waiting to be polished. So mission accomplished by the coaching staff.
He needs a sydney based team to show him the ropes. He is not learning here and never will. That said under Brown he was becoming as thin as a rake. Last night he was 5 kg heavier and he helped us considerably enforce and gain the line of advantage at the collision point. He was an asset for the first time this year or maybe even last year.
All that said he is not NRL standard and never will be at the warriors. Who cares if he turns into another Papal'i and becomes a star forward at the Storm. Good if that happens. At some point we have to prioritise what is best for the player rather than take a one in one hundred gamble that he turns it around with us. Especially so when Webster WILL NOT be bringing his own coaching staff. The articles state he needs to continue to employ Justin Morgan and Stacey and the other assistants. So given no change in personnell at the level there is a zero percent chance Katoa improves if he stays here.
Long answer basically saying both our observations on him last night are correct. Except I personally wouldn't play him again. And personally would have played Lui last night.

Just after I highlighted this yesterday as the key to the clubs motivation to give 100% intensity 80 minutes every game, Harris goes and repeats it in the post conf :"Everyone's just got to look themselves in the mirror and ask if this is what they really want, what they want to get out of their career, and what they want to do for this club."

Now this is great stuff and what Im talking about with the players being accountable for pride in their performance, for their team (also country given its 1 NZ team) and each other, let alone the fans. That is the only way you can produce 80 minutes of 100% effort for 24 rounds. There is no magic bullet or super coach who can fix the Warriors, its a club and player culture problem (not that they are alone with this problem). Its not that they do not have enough talent to be in the top 4. And if they think going back to NZ and hiding with no NRL media scrutiny is going to help, it wont, it will only see them individually get dropped (hopefully). All the coach can ask from players who are signed and then selected for the Club, is use this personal pride as motivation to give 100% 80 minutes, 24 games a season. That is how you make grand finals consistently.

Well said Tohu Harris, I hope you learn to start cracking the pride whip a lot more as captain, no better way to motivate than ask people is that really all you got.

I really like this post and think you should post more. 100% agree with your observation on the captains challenge.

I have reflected over night and as difficult as that loss was to process I think we were the better team on the field for most of that match barring some Jack Wighton 40 20s we would have won.
I think fans should regard last nigths loss as a positive loss if there is such a thing. We played well. If a prospective player who we are working on to sign for next year watched that loss last night they are MORE likely to sign with us now. We looked like a team with potential. We looked a lot better than a bottom three team. And I think Webster would have been pleased with what he saw and absolutely he was watching and taking detailed notes.
We did ok. Chin's up. Like I said earlier it is just a mind fuck to be leading by 14 and lose.

A major work on in my mind is second half offence. Last night we scored zero points and plenty of other games we have been outscored in the second half. 14 points in the first half is good but 14 points in 80 minutes is weak.
