Also, sorry for re-post, but Gameday Chatter closed and I am genuinely curious.

Can someone let me know why players insist on knocking the ball dead in goal when it is close to the ground (mid-low percentage play IMO) rather than simply forcing it (i.e., the action required to get maximum points at the other end of the field)...
Grounding a bouncing and unpredictable ball is more of a low percentage play that putting it across the dead ball line. Our pkayer was not in a great position after being turned around and it was pure desperation. Blocker is there for his character and the controversy he brings and definitely not his understanding of modern coaching

Exactly.

Forcing the ball allows the risk of the hand "bouncing" the ball. A weird angle happens and suddenly the attacking player has more of an opportunity. Batting it dead - um, with a smidgen more vim and more towards the deadball line than on a weird angle than the Warriors do, methinks! - means the ball is propelled back with a ton more speed than the attacking player who kicked it intended and than any attacking player who's chasing can most likely get it down before it goes over the dead ball line.

Get your head together, there isn't, never has been and never will be a "conspiracy" against the Warriors.

It's just the match officials shitting themselves about "looking unbiased". The way you seem "biased" is by having a penalty count demonstrably in one team's favour. So the officials have to make bullshit calls for both teams so they don't get any heat.

Not gonna miss RW. It's amusing how much the Aussies just luuurve him this week.
I never mentioned a conspiracy against the Warriors. I don't believe for a second that it's that targeted. The NRL gets so much wrong on a weekly basis (for many different teams) that you can only attribute so much to incompetence.

Let's not plaster over the fact the Warriors were poor again but some of the calls Badger made were head scratching regardless of who you support.

The only issues I have with the captains challenges are:

We are crap at them and if it's not a real howler we should save them for the second half.

The Raiders one should of been past the allotted time. We at home watching TV got to see a replay as well as having time pass before and after the replay.

The NRL has moved towards using the captains challenge instead of using the bunker to pick up mistakes unless it is foul play. There were a few where it looked like the Bunker could of corrected it. Again comes back to the first point where we should save ours seeing as anyone that makes a mistake thinks they have been dudded.

If you just watch the first half of warriors games, and turn the TV off at half time, you actually get to witness a lot of warriors victories.

The dissatisfaction usually sets in during the second 40.

I am just going to watch the first half, going forward

If Chanel Harris-Tavita comes back after his travelling he should look at him as a fullback. Think he looks better there than in the halves.

Besides getting caught out with the 40/20s the back 3 looked pretty good. The first 40/20 was a freak of a kick though.

The 3 looked pretty safe under the high ball. Payed with a lot of energy and did a lot of work.

Also got some decent runs in.

The start was good but after that we barely got down their end of the field.

The possession was always going to turn around. We don't have much points in us and although the first half defence was good we haven't put in efforts like that for the full 80. So 14 points was more than likely not going to be enough.

Still disappointing getting up by 14 and then getting 20+ unanswered points put on us.

Couple of things that really let us down. Jazz and his ill discipline. Montoya & his lack of concentration at times(Otherwise he is a ball of energy)

And even tho it was one of many stupid errors. Addin holding onto a players leg while he was running back & the player was trying to play the ball on the 4th tackle....Penalty.... Fuck it pissed me off.
They scored not long after that. And kept on scoring.

And , Down came the heads. Kasey Badger is a fucking mug.

I thought Murch was great. Eli looked huge & worked hard. Asi has so much promise. Three players we should be keeping but this club will probably let go.
Poor Cap Harris. Works his ass off. For no reward....Sigh....

Decided to go to the movies with the wife instead of watching the Warriors… Maverick is a great movie. Bonus for me is that I didnt have to get worked up over the clubs 54th loss after leading by double digits!

I've always thought it was daft how they bat it dead.

I don't think they should ground it like they are trying to score a try but they should catch the fucking thing and either go dead or ground it.

The batting the ball allows for it to bounce weirdly off the hands and shit.

The way Roach was commentating on Walsh you would have thought Walsh had been playing like Billy Slater in his prime. Forget all the external stuff on him not moving on he needs to be out there.

Can understand the other commentators but this guy does a lot of our games. Obviously while he's criticising our mistakes and missed tackles he's forgotten Walsh's.

He was on for 10 minutes and still made quite a few mistakes. Basically justified Stacey Jones' decision to drop him to the bench and try Chanel Harris-Tavita at the back instead.

I don't understand how we let them have so many offloads when we had 2 to 3 players in tackles, just wrap them up/ get them to ground! Oh well hopefully next year is our year.. Be interesting to see what Webster intends with our roster

Canberra are good at it. Big mobile players who go forward. Plus the halves give them good ball.

If Raiders get in the 8 they'll go a long way as there hard to beat.

Two seven tackle sets to the Raiders when we were on top let them get the ball finally and the writing was on the wall.
Maybe next year we will learn to keep the momentum going and win games. At 14 points up we had no idea what to do. Silly unpressured mistakes lead to stupid mistakes. And that opens the door for the opposition and the refs to do a number on us. And then we try too hard and it gets worse
I hope Webster has a cunning plan. Because he will need one

Can anyone explain why Shaun Johnson continues to do the overwhelming majority of kicking?

Asi put up a bomb in the first half that lead to our second try that was a better kick than anything Shaun has done in the last 5 years, and promptly had his kicking license revoked.

Shaun Johnson jealous that others can actually get some height on the ball?

Nepotism
