Couldn’t understand that- we had a couple of really strong cases too which I thought would’ve gone our way.
Can’t save em for next week 🤷‍♂️
We have given up trying to review unless it’s black and white. 2/8 successful and the worst success rate in the league - is anyone really surprised? Warriors rulings and consistent with our try scoring bunker calls…

We've all seen reviews go up where even the biased Aussie commentators are perplexed how they rule against us.

There was a stat read out on the Fox commentary last night that all of the Eels forwards had run for over 100 metres except their dummy half.

How often do we have guys struggle to make 100? I'd guess quite often.

That Eels stat is also good in that the workload is shared. We have had Addin Fonua-Blake put up big number in the past but instead of that being complemented by others doing big numbers there will be guys doing a lot less.
That just reinforces for me the fact that until we get high quality 3 & 4th props on deck we’re going to languish, can see potential in Pene if he adds a few more kegs but for me Bunty is a SuperLeague player and we should be going hard to find a replacement, and the buys we already have for next year are better edges than middles, Tohu Harris upfront solves 1 issue, but 1-2 props of quality is what we need.

Yeah, but if he got the 30-20 like he was trying to do you would be creaming yourself right now.

Fine line between hero and villain.

People shit on Shaun Johnson when he stuffs up a Hail Mary play, and the same people idolise him when it pays off…. 🤷🏻
Yep heard all that before and not normally down on those trying to make shit happen - however I fear you and JaggedJ may have missed the point, having a crack is one thing but knowing when and where are the keys.

Consider a field goal attempt from 50-60mtrs out. Some would say that’s trying to make things happen others would say it’s a waste of possession.

The back 3 were on their way back, it was a 30/20 attempt and more importantly we’d just won possession back after more time without it.

The resultant try exemplifies the error however he’s not to blame for that, it’s more that it was too early and too far out for that play.

That ADDED to his other errors killed us last night. Now I haven’t seen that from him before so I suggest he’s probably realised this year is a lost cause and has moved on - I say so should we.

Hopefully the additional context explains more point a little better.

Bring in Volkman, Chanel Harris-Tavita to the back and Reece can be 18. Will do us all some good I think.

Understand your point, just don't agree with it.

Back 3 weren't on their way back. If they were he doesn't go for it, we play out our set, give the ball back, then we get the ball back in our own end with 10 to go and still 16 down.

We're not a team that can score from 40+m out. We get down the field 2 ways through either a penalty or error. You can't rely on either happening so he had a crack at making something happen. Didn't come off but good on him for trying.

Watched the first half. 10pm kickoff is no draw card for watching the Warriors.

Thought they were ok in the first half.… not sure who the intended recipient of the intercept pass was. A floating lob pass would have been the better option rather than try a bullet through traffic.

As for the Nz commentary…. I’ve never hit the yellow button so fast in my life!! I don’t need be educated about where players played their junior league as a kid!!
Your lucky.
I have Sky Sport Now so dont have a yellow button

Really happy with Kosi’s development and wondering if anybody knows much about Dallin Watene-Zelezniak contract. I know the bulldogs are paying half of his contract until the end of this year which is around $400k, we’ve got him for the next two years but is that at $800k without bulldogs chipping in? His leadership qualities are massive but if that’s his salary per season I’m going with Montoya and Kosi as wingers.

Bad option poorly executed and the rest of the team didn't know it was coming. Don't know how you spin that into a positive story of at least he tries. Kaka.

Obviously not the result we wanted but I’m reasonably happy with the effort. Far improved from where it was at under Brownie.

Saw some stats a few weeks ago and from memory we were averaging 8 tackles inside our red zone for every try conceded. For reference the panthers and storm were up around 17-18 red zone tackles per try conceded. So for us to hold them out as long as we did at the start I was reasonably happy with, although after the second repeat set you knew what was coming.

Two opportunist tries - if Sivo doesn’t get the intercept Kosi is strolling in. The pass probably had to be the floater over the top rather than the face ball across the line. The 40/20 from Walsh was definitely on but the kick chase was just non-existent and if the ball carried on its line instead of breaking in field I doubt Gutherson goes for the spread. Can't fault Walsh for trying something in that situation, just seems like he tried to go it alone. Would have been a semi-decent option if the kick chase was there. A lot of ifs but that’s where our season is at.

On the Papali’i try - I thought Aitken probably chased Mahoney too far from marker. Mahoney had run far enough across field he was covered by the outside defenders so if Aitken had stopped chasing he’d have plugged the hole in behind where the ruck was. Instead he overcommitted and left a truckload of space in behind the ruck leaving Tohu Harris and Addin Fonua-Blake I think it was to cover from the open side.

Also thought Egan played probably 10 minutes too many. Very tired on defence at the end of his stint, was picked out by the eels runners and he was never winning the first up contact. Would like to see him spelled either side of half time so he effectively gets a 20-30 minute breather and misses 10-15 minutes of game time.

All-in-all a better effort but the same old story that’s let us down this year. Well in the fight at halftime and we come out of the sheds a different team. Switch off for 15 minutes and next time you look at the scoreboard we’re down 3 scores.

I know most here won't agree with you, but I really do.

Walsh does have moments of brilliance but they're increasingly rare. We really need someone at the back who will be reliable rather than going for the adhoc hail mary. That kick on 3rd that lead to the Sivo try was absolutely brain dead.
Yep
I have not been a fan at all. He was thrown in way too soon and is to impetuous to be our full back. We need solid calm back there not flighty fame seeking.

Curran was receiving some hospital passes last night… not sure if Eels were offside but he had zero room most the night. Warriors played too structured and Eels did their homework. Needed more offloads and second phase play., way too predictable until the final 10 minutes.

Eliminate the 3 gift tried and after time to reflect way more positives than negatives. I’d send Walsh to the Dolphins, too many errors in him, and he doesn’t offer much threat carting the ball back. Love Montoya but man he can be rocks and diamonds.

Better days ahead and remember Webster is a ‘whiz’ attack minded coach. Wait and see but guy needs 2 seasons to get his squad and structures in place. Be interesting to see some new assistants for a change aside from Stacey, not same old Justin Morgan & co.

Does Stacey have the balls to drop Walsh?? Prolly not and that is part of the warriors problem. A player won’t get dropped if the media thinks they are a super star. He’s actually not that good, he may end up being but I can also see him struggling to fit in with a team of stars

We obviously train for a 40 min game as we usually for the other 40 either lose interest or run out of ideas. We need some fast moving tanks up the guts to give us a platform to score off.2023 we will be inside that top 8 as they are just going through the motions to end 2022.You have to stay positive to be in this fan base.

Alot more optimistic about this game than the tigers game leaning more towards Nikoure at centre and Barnett/Curran in the backrow we need to keep Tohu Harris at lock for his ballplaying and signing a prop to partner Addin Fonua-Blake

Webster just focus on fitness and defence for the whole preseason and I can see us making the top 12
I’d put Barnett at prop and give Murchie a starting spot in the second row, and try get the best out of Ale and Katoa

Mitch Moses kicking game kept us contained in the game. Papalili produced one of his trademark tries he gets every game.
I was happy with our effort.
Our six and seven just are not good enough and Walsh is starting to look unconvincing but maybe there’s a bit of mental bias there.
Short a prop or too but thought our effort was good

Bad option poorly executed and the rest of the team didn't know it was coming. Don't know how you spin that into a positive story of at least he tries. Kaka.

All I said was that it didn't bother me. Didn't say it was positive, not trying to spin it. Just didn't bother me and explained why.

Out of all the things that happened last night and has happened from week to week if a 19 year old kid taking a desperate low percentage play in an attempt to make things happen is your takeaway then there's not really much more to say.
