Geez it's a tough crowd in here sometimes. 19 year old makes his debut against the best team in the comp and people are already calling him worse than Niko.

You think the opposition are thinking he's only 19, we better go easy on him?

Need to set the same bar as everyone else playing if we ever want to get out of this mess...

And I'm still feeling salty about your Dallin Watene-Zelezniak comment - nothing personal though.

Wake me when our players figure out how to create space for each other in attack, this metronomic one out stuff is coma inducing.

Good ball for us is when we’re 20 metres out from the opposition goal line. Good ball for the Panthers is every time they take possession of the footy. Slightly exaggerated but you get my point.

No energy from too much defending? we’re not helping ourselves by asking questions and taking their legs away in attack either.

A few observations:

- Arthars solidified his side.
- Arthars and Pompey are our best centres (well done Stacey)
- Addin Fonua-Blake strengthened the middle 134m. Still would like to see him hitting the line with more sting though. Hasn’t smashed into the defence since the knee clash last year - change of technique?
- Jazz 130m - small man big heart
- Afoa 122m - we called for him to do more and he responded. Some runs with venom in there as well
- Chanel Harris-Tavita tried hard and probed nicely - suited to 14. (Well done Stacey)
- Volkman was quiet but I could see the potential - strongly built and physically ready for first grade. Some deft plays.
- Harris struggled for speed but is still coming back from his ACL.
- Aitken out of the second row solidified our defence - he’s small and even though he stops people he doesn’t dominate in attack or defence. Curren, Murchie and Harris are a physically imposing lineup. I’m liking what Murchie offers.

The selection was solid with the best of what we have got (Arthars and Pompey our best centres, Chanel Harris-Tavita to 14, backing our future in Volkman, Murchie in the back row who performed). Good job Stacey.
I like the way you've summed it up here. Too many people, commentators included, expect instant results but conveniently forget the other 15 teams have built from rnd 1 whereas we have a rookie coach taking over from rnd 14.
Same goes for Volkman who I thought did well, unlike some miserable sod who compared him to Kodi, he will only get better but expecting him to become the Dally M rookie and lead the shit stain Warriors to the top 8 from now is fantasy.

Selection is improving and hopefully less injuries allow the team to build confidence and perform consistently better. Once the new head coach is secured the goal is he will implement his style that the team will thrive on. We may not make the top 8 but we have to get better..

The player interviews and post match pressers are of huge concern to me. There's no blame allocated here, they're just in such a bad place right now. How could you not feel for Shaun Johnson after the game.

The scoreboard could have got a lot more ugly and it didn't. We let in some soft tries , but the kick off howlers and some others weren't there . So I thought there was improvement, even if the players can't see it.

At this point it's appearing that whatever issues the club has manifested themselves to create the Storm drubbing. Since then we have had 1 win, by 1 point against the Raiders. While our on-field performances have been below par, the club has made the headlines most in off field issues. If there is more rot, there is no better time to cut it out than now.

I'm not blaming Nathan Brown for this s___ show, the problems run a lot deeper than just a coach. But we probably have more things to go through before the rebuild even starts.

So you’re saying each time we get a new coach that’s a good excuse to “re-set”?

How convenient.

I saw nothing in Volkman to get excited about.. no different to my first assessment of Mason Lino, Chanel Harris-Tavita or Kodi. Serviceable but low ceiling. All the hype over him didn’t help

No blistering speed, or step like we used to see back in the day when Shaun Johnson was a rookie. Or even Lolohea.

Happy to see how well this assessment ages.

I thought the few kicks he put in looked decent. I don’t think he is supposed to be a line breaking 6, more a well rounded 7 who has come through the right systems. I thought his pass selection looked pretty good and he seemed to have some chemistry with Walsh in terms of trying to up the tempo

40 points conceded again. 7 losses on the bounce. Is there anything more we can say?

I saw photos of training at Redcliffe during the week… and for a team who are on a horrible losing run, they sure looked happy.

Just meh.

I'm glad they look happy, probably happy to be heading home

Only have to look at the Tigers to see increased intensity is no sure way out of a hole

Do not let Johnston stay another year he is well past his best and just stealing a living for his family. How low this team has fallen and a long way to go. I do not buy into this crap that we will improve now we are home. Maybe next year. As all ways we say next year is our year :(

How many players have we had with speed and a step and we haven’t won shit. We need a half with brains that can set up plays, take the line on and organize a team. I’d take that over any flashy shit once every few games

Yet the Bulldogs have won two in a row and their coach got punted a week before? Stacey was part of Browns coaching staff along with Morgan, they are all shit. Both need to go, we will go close to the spoon this year.

I think Justin Morgan is the problem. No offloads or inspiration. Just one out shit. He needs to go.
Agree Tevaga used to offload every time, Katoa has gone backwards after being so dangerous in his rookie season. there forwards offer nothing on attack at the moment .

Barrett left straight after magic round and they lost three in a row before the two wins. They are suddenly looking really good though, so full credit to Mick Potter for the turnaround.
