Team Lists

Ok SOO should be on another thread... so getting back to the sharks v warriors game discussion .. I'm glad Stacey hasn't changed the team.. well see how they respond now. Sharks are a good team, yet I've always felt we are better. On paper anyway, this could be a game that goes either way.

Wasnt about SoO.

"But I would like to see our Captain and then after our coach question the refs over obviously wrong decisions. Keep the pressure on, so the rub of the green doesnt go all the other way."

We need more pressure put on the refs by the captain and backed up by the coach if its needed. My point wasnt about SoO, its about our team having just accepted some absurd calls this year, some that have infuenced the result.

Captain has to keep whinging at the ref politely, to keep the rub of the green from going to the other team who all do exactly this, these days. I not sure why we dont

The issue we have vs Sharks now is mental, beaten by an 11 man team. I agree on paper we have a great team. But some reason the coach could get their intensity up like the sharks are.

If Stacey can get our intensity turned up to frothing level, and our defense is non compromising, our offense will do the rest. So dpending on intensity, it is any bodies game.

Things are feeling a lot LIGHTER than they were last week! Have we got a long way to go!? Yup! But I’ll take feeling a little more positive over the last few weeks any day! Hoping Stacey can get the boys over the line this week and if not at least a passionate performance 🔥

Im hoping Stacy can unleash the offense now he is head coach and has been with the team a fair while now and was successful at u20. Specifically I hope he asks Johnson to start running a bit more, although imo he should ask Chanel Harris-Tavita to play 7 and Johnson move to 6 where he would be a lot more effective running. I hope he rotates Otukolo and Egan and asks them to start running the ball. I hope he asks Walsh to start playing like Papenhuyzen and following the hookers when they run not pass so he gets more open field play which is where he is most useful as a player. In fact Id like Stacy to put Arthars in as Full Back with his hgiher quality defense and get Walsh into the halves so he is hands on ball more often and is more likely to be closer to the hookers and known offloading forwards.

Somehow he needs to find a way to turn the mentality around, so that the team plays for their season and plays for pride, knowing they will be home soon and if they win the games prior it puts them in with a chance of making the 8.

Keeping in mind it wasnt just Shaun Johnson who wasnt happy with Brown, they all look dejected.

I also hope Jazz ate some humble pie after those 2 tries, after the week prior giving some other guys a bit of a spray.

We've seen this before, poor performing team gets coach turfed mid-season, suddenly they feel like proving themselves but it lasts maybe 2 weeks max.

Let's not forget the Sharks absolutely humiliated us not that long ago beating us comfortably with 1 less man most of the game. They'll be keen themselves to drive the stake in as well I think.

I think we are either going to get up and win for Stace or get completely hammered. Don’t know why but I think we have a chance $6 for 12 and under - worth a crack!!
I agree. What we dont know is how much the team was being held back by Brown for strategies that are either yester year or just not good. SK at least had really good processes/methodologies to follow, he just took to long to get to a point the team could be top 4, and by then it all came crumbling down due to multiple reasons. I hope we get someone like SK again, but they prioritise fitness and defense, and then provide the team some shape and depth in offense. Hiring Barrett would give us a similar offense to the Pennies, now we are a mobile forward pack and will have 3 dangerous backs to use next season and hopefully Egan and Otukolo just keep improving with the Harry Grant style dummy half stuff.

I might just put a small one on them for that kind of money, maybe increase it with a multi.

Strange how different folk see the same game

As I watched SOO I thought that NSW were getting the favourable calls
I didn't spot anything completely blatant for either side. But its clear that SOO is controlled differently to the average NRL game. Isaiah Yeo was clearly concussed from the first tackle and was staggering back to the line which is usually an immediate HIA assessment. Also the lifting tackle where Munster landed on his head would have been a sin binning.

It would have been interesting if a try similar to Taupau's had been awarded the other night. No doubt it'd be getting talked about for days. I don't ever recall seeing a try awarded when even the attacking player is feeling certain they didn't reach the line and plays the ball.

They are really 50/50s to me that Fitler is asking for clarification over. I was fine either way they went myself. I can see his point, but flak, Ive seen the Warriors massacred by obvious mistakes that even when gone to video ref have gotten very wrong.

I can't see the warriors winning this week unless our forwards completely dominate the sharks pack.

Expecting to see the Sharks cut us to pieces on the edges. Pompey and Berry marking Talakai and Ramien really scares me. Hynes is probably going to put on a clinic to say "pick me NSW, pick me!".

Hope to see them get off the couch for Sundays game.I don't want to see or hear anymore excuses from any of them.Play for the jersey, each other and the fans otherwise it will be another thrashing.Hope Stacy has got that into heads.

We actually did a good job containing Talakai last time, that surprised me. But if we are not using Arthars, oh lordy. Pompey sits at 80% efficiency and our wingers have made some bizarre mis reads coming in for no reason leaving the wing wide open. If we have the 2nd worst cente-right defense, Id like to know where we are placed on the left..

we had a 1 man advantage for most of the game, and a 2 man advantage for 10 mins, and they were still troubling our edges though.

I hope we play well, but suspect a clinic coming up.

Jones playing it safe with them picks and safe as got us nothing. I said Johnson had to have a great game for us to beat Manly and i will say it again this week!

6Again

I’m aware Jones pretty well copied and pasted the team from last week because of what had happened with Brownie on Tuesday.

We could see some changes, positional or otherwise 24 hours prior to kick off.

I was enjoying the Otukolo swaps. I guess Sironen is the safer bet, so Egan will be doing 80mins this week.

I didnt realise how bad our wingers were on D, 64% and 70% efficiency. I thought Arthars in for Pompey with 90% vs 80% and imo runs a really good inside the redzone and doesnt seem to make too many bad D reads, but why bother if the Wingers are going to come running in as soon at the 6 gets the ball in his hands lol.

sounds like we don’t need to worry about Talalai….

Warrant issued for arrest of Cronulla Sharks star Siosifa Talakai after failing to appear in court

Cronulla Sharks star Siosifa Talakai has had a run-in with the law after failing to appear in court on a minor driving charge.

A magistrate issued a warrant for the arrest of Cronulla’s star centre Siosifa Talakai after he failed to show up to court to answer a minor driving charge on Friday.
Talakai was due to front Sutherland Local Court on Friday after highway patrol officers charged the NRL player with driving with an expired licence on Captain Cook Drive at Caringbah on May 13.
However, the 25-year-old was a no-show when his case was called just after 12.30pm.

Magistrate Roger Prowse then issued an arrest warrant for Talakai, despite the driving charge carrying a maximum fine of $2200.

When approached by The Saturday Telegraph, Sharks management knew nothing about the court case but sprang into action, grounding Talakai from flying to Brisbane with the rest of the team ahead of Sunday’s clash with the New Zealand Warriors and sending a legal team to try and have the decision overturned.

The court reconvened on Friday afternoon and Magistrate Hugh Donnelly agreed to revoke the warrant and adjourned the case to June 23.

Sharks media manager Rob Willis labelled the missed court date “an oversight” on Talakai’s behalf, saying the player “hadn’t realised” he had been due to attend court that day.

He confirmed Talakai had not disclosed the charge to the club but did not say whether Talakai would face repercussions.

He was also unable to provide any comment about the facts of the case or indicate if Talakai intended to plead guilty when it did return to court.

Same team- a change in mentality and playing style?
You don’t get Kevin Campion in for trainings to only give him the tour, he’s there to give some of the guys a ‘refocus’.
Not confident but always hopeful.
The Talakai issue hopefully to be a distraction to work in our favour.
