Murchie needs to be resigned. Hardly plays a bad game and is only going to get better.
Really good game last weekend.
The week prior he absolutely butchered a try by not passing to his Winger though. Shows potential here & there (best on park vs Bulldogs in 2020) but there was a patch last year before he got axed that he was dropping balls & giving away penalties on an all too regular basis. I think he might end up at Parra, if not the Dolphins, & kick on

His dropsies in the Manly game last year still haunt me.

I am really not understanding why we are persisting with Vailea over Aitken at right center. We have been very poor defensively in our edges and yet we opt to play out best defensive center by a margin in the forwards. Vailea I know he is rated but I haven't seen anything especially defensively to give me any confidence in him for this year anyway. I feel him and Dallin are unlikely to get any decent yardage return either. I don't want to be negative but can't help it....
I suppose you need give Vailea the chance to keep getting NRL game time now so he is a better player next year because Aitken wont be here next year. Aitken can help by defending along side the young centre this year.

Aitken will be defending alongside Pompey though. Katoa is here next year & as you state Aitken isn't. Aitken deserve to start but wherever he plays he stalls a youngsters development so we just need our best 13 out there

Yep totally agree Aitken deserves a spot. I just think our young centres need that consistent game time more in the scheme of things. Katoa can play off the bench if needed and still get good minutes. Fair call though.

Wrightys Analysis

Fullback Advantage Warriors
Wings Advantage St George
Centres Advantage St George
Halves - Who knows which Shaun Johnson will turn up. Will it be dinner suit Shaun Johnson who tries hero plays like kicking for his wing on the 2nd tackle or the incisive Shaun Johnson we saw in the second half on the weekend. Let's say Tie
Hooker - I don't rate Mbye at hooker I say advantage warriors
Props Warriors
Second Row Warriors
Lock - St George
Bench St George Times 2

Totals
Warriors 4 Advantages
St George - 5 advantages

I would say Chanel Harris-Tavita coming back for Asi might help the Warriors
I think our wings and centres need to match theirs and the game will be won or lost there.

On average points scored for and against warriors are +1 point on average over st george.

Murchie racked up 45 tackles last week. Did he shift to the middle when Ben Murdoch-Masila was on?
Yes he did shift for a period there to the middle and did quite well. I was thinking we could turn him into a middle forward he has the physical tools and can impact more than Pene, just thinking due to backrowers sausage fest next year he might want to transistion to prop if he wants to stay otherwise he will go

He has tidied up his game a fair bit, Hes a big unit and i think Shaun used him well as a battery ram. The 45 tackles is unexpected and the 80 mins, that says his motor has improved and its an upgrade over Katoa at least, if he and aitken have the ability to play 80 it gives you more freedom to continue to allow Tohu Harris to play his limited minutes as well as use Lussick sparingly etc

I'm happy with that team.... Thankfully Ben Murdoch-Masila has had some impact of the bench, Murchie earns his spot over Katoa.... Pene and Afoa a similar not great metre eaters but not much else to choose from... Afoa always starts the season great even looked like he developed a step and pass but has gone back to just running it up... Happy to have Lussick come on for limited minutes and get some enthusiasm around the ruck.... Never change a second half winning team😎

Don't forget we got Ale and the Kepu brothers. He might be competing with Pene for a spot but Pene has one more year on his contract. At this stage I'd take him over Pene.

I think we'll scrape out a win & we'll go on a run of 3 wins straight. Lean pickings after that though with only wins over the Tigers, Bulldogs & Titans, all in Auckland to follow. 10W-14L season to finish in 10th. An improvement on 2021 but an overall fail.
Would love to be proven wrong

That's optimistic! I don't think we in danger of the spoon, but maybe 5 more wins, 2 at mt smart and a few others. The attitude just isn't there, they should have had their come to Jesus moment after the Sharks game and still produced just about the worst half of the year the next time out.

The big concern coming into the year was getting walsh, johnson and the two big props on the field more often than not, but those four have been mostly available, but the outside backs have been worse than feared, the forwards have been a bit disappointing compared to their on paper potential and the playmaking has been rank. The coaching/gameplan/getting the right attitude hasn't improved either. Bloody long season, so it could turn around, but no signs of it occurring.

True 50-50 game this week. Dragons being at home to edge it.
