honestly, i hope reece walsh leaves. for all his excitement and the odd try assist, he lets two or three tries a game in, in the exact way people used to bitch about hiku.

his missed conversions were the difference today plus the at least two tries he just let in almost without trying.

i have zero doubt he’ll come good. just not here.

🥱
I agree has some stunning speed off the mark . coming from small size lightweight ...But in D he's pretty much a speed bump ... not a powerful player that breaks a tackle.. could do well in a good team and develop into a superstar etc ... but agree very unlikely here ...

If brown was to step down I would do everything in my power to get Cameron Ciraldo.

But how I would do it is to try now to pitch a new role for Nathan Brown as footballing director. Keep his mate in recruiting management. Those two together in recruiting could work well together.

Would let Ciraldo bring in a Assistant he see's fit.

Next option would be Kristian Woolf and then Flanagan.

Yeah I actually think I agree with you and AusWarriorsFan, Ciraldo could be the guy and Cleary could be the guy that sells it to him having a soft spot for the Warriors and seemingly enjoying his time here. This article strikes me as Clearly being a big influence on Ciraldo and reads as though he’s warned him against the bulldogs job.

I think it would be a huge mistake for Ciraldo to go bulldogs. The Warriors have SOOO much going for them. All it needs is some coaching, Ciraldo trains what Cleary tells him too. He would easily have our defense in shape, he woulnt accept simple ball handling errors, all of these things that are training issues, Ciraldo would correct.

I just hope the owners some how see this through someone and strike while the iron is warm.

Ok I'm going to address an official decision error. When is someone held up ingoal? Last week Jazz held Taafe up in goal and every other year that would have been 7 tackle set to us - try saved. But the ref did not blow the whistle and the replay showed the ball was up in the air for an age.

Then this week Lomax was more than covered but 10 of his mates were allowed to push tacklers off and get him out? That's blatantly bad reffing.
Yeah nah they got it right both times, we just suck, no one helping Jazz hold up taffe and no one shutting down Lomax just lazy ass players

The Walsh dilemma - bulk him up and his acceleration (due to power to weight ratio) decreases but his defence improves.

Last year he got 20 tries/ try assists in 16 games - 1.25 per game. This year he’s got 5 try/ try assists in 10 games - 0.5 per game. Last year he also benefited from a faster, fatigue inducing game, which has changed again this year.

Browny claims he’s a much better player this year but guarantee he won’t make the Morons squad. As per the stats, he’s half the player of last year. But I don’t see it as a coaching fault. He needs to bulk up (to fragile) and try to keep the speed.

Can he get the attacking flair back with the extra required weight or will be another ‘talent’ that couldn’t reach their potential?

I said we should have put in a bid for Lachlan Miller, the Rugby 7s star. Sensational debut for the Sharks, 250 metres, 19 runs, 2 tries, 9 tackle busts, 1 long range sensational try. Essentially won the game for the sharks after a lack luster first half.

Just fill the team with X factor players and if we anything like Freddy and the Blues, we will find a position for them no matter where they are use to playing.

The issue is we are a team of halves, playing other positions ie Walsh, Egan. Then you got Metcalf, Volkman and of course Shaun Johnson, Chanel Harris-Tavita, Asi. 7 half backs. We just have to find the right spots for them. But Ive said this from the start we need a real full back, not a half that gets to first grade and is then asked to play FB. When it works it is the other way around, normally later on FBs become a 5/8th etc. Id have Metcalf on the wing for pace, Walsh ideally is a 6, but then you are pushing out Chitty or Shaun Johnson, so Id wait to see if Walsh wants to stay after 2023. If he stays, and Chitty is staying it may just push Shaun Johnson into retirement, especially with Volkman being a great player but not a fast half, so hes also eying up #7.

If I didnt know better Id say George is over compensating for his IDIOTIC move on pushing Shaun Johnson out and breaking down SKs team by releasing all our halves and Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad and then we have to debut Chanel Harris-Tavita at 6 and Tohu Harris as half back 7. Now we are flooded with halves.

So we just gotta fit them where we need them. Metcalf is a good tackle buster. But lik Walsh not great defender.

Thats why the club needs a Coach/Trainer.

Brown did the sneaky right in front of SKs face, how the flap did we go from SK rebuilding the team, to the CEO destroying it to the result which was no offense 2019 being blamed on SK and instead we hire a guy coming off 2 wooden spoons and a 28% win rate? That was some really dumb thinking to be fair.

I say sack George, move Brown to CEO as he has a good higher level head than coaching, Coaching Director/CEO.

And yes I think Toovs was the only one who was vocal about actually WANTING to do it.
Toovs is a good concept although he also inherited a winning Hasler team.

I dont think SK built a roster at all if anything he sat on players trying to build a mini replica of the Storm.

He had at his disposal, niukore, papalii, Shaun Lane, slept on Curran for 3 years. Adam Keiraghn, Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad, Chanel Harris-Tavita for 3 years, Lisone let go.

I get Brown's coaching may not be yeilding results. But end of the day he isnt missing tackles and simple ones at that. They are in the contest but perform poorly and crucial times.

Defence is attitude based. They have to want to get in front of bodies and compete. And their attitude to defence is pretty poor.

Drop him and all the guys not playing next year asap. Please wake up Warriors and realise the playoffs aren't happening this year without both of Lodge and Addin Fonua-Blake. Let's just pick a youthful hard working squad who are just buzzing to get first grade time.
After this I think I have the answer.

Murchie and Tohu Harris to play centres.

Change our method of getting away from our own end. Moved to scooping from dummy. For our wingers posting them. One off the ruck isnt heplful.

Katoa to prop. And play any young forwards who just want to rip in and prove they got the metal.

Make a rule for Johnson he has to take 3 steps forward before he can take one sideways.

And lets see what happens.

Indeed, he didnt. Its like SK did what Brown needs now and SK needed what Brown has, Roster lol.

Toovs still did very well, its not as easy as taking over a winning team, he was a huge part of that team being on point long before he got HC. And the proof in that is when they sack him for this unproven concept called Barrett who ruined that club for a long period (until Dezzy came back).

Its odd because Cleary says and it is reality, Barret was instrumental as Offensive coach for him. But he cant make it as a head coach.

So to me it kind of illustrates some people just have 1 specialty. For Brown its internetworking and analysis. Its not coaching as such.

I think Toovs is a great defensive coach and an amazing inspirational coach.

That is the main reason I would back him. Or anybody who has those two attributes with the Warriors. Teach them how to stop any team and inspire them to be hangry to run over the top of players in offense. Obviously the little stuff that pops up like ball handling where needed. But just identify those are our 2 main issues and deliver on them, its not rocket science (not saying coaching is easy, but identifying where we are lacking is)

I see some hope, Manly without Tommy out for the season and others due to origin. But we have to beat the sharks.

That will have us 7/7 after 14 rounds, likely needing 6/10 to make the 8. Probably a pasting the next round vs Panthers, so likely needing 6/9. Its doable. But we need immediate change in our defense, especially how our edge reacts to back lines catching and passing running at them, not even hard stuff we end up flanked or somebody falls for a draw and pass.

But part of me hopes we miss the 8 badly so there is no exscuse to keep Brown on, ie Covid, away from Home ground, all BS reasons for defending like nobody is coaching them.

Wheres Ackland at?

Why we essentially experimenting with Stacey Jones and Justin Morgan.

For mine Johnson gets way too many touches. Asi can kick, other teams probably wouldnt expect him to get the ball before Johnson too.

So element of surprise there, not to mention the times he has had the ball he gets points / results.

I wished SK rolled with a youth policy when Shaun Johnson left. Wed have sat through 2-3 years of halves CTH and Keiraghn plying their trade then reaping the benefits for the last 2, well into the next decade

I think there is some risk about what he may or may not become but certainly a lot to work with, missing top end speed which is a concern for fullback but his speed off the mark and goalkicking (last week aside) are great assets.
I am not sure he would get the same remuneration next year from another club, he hasn't really gotten a lot better than he was last year although he might take unders to escape.

Jackson Frei has been at the Warriors for a while and has not really done anything. He’s played 1-2 first grade games and is too small for a prop. He’s injury prone - maybe a great club man and trainer?

SK actually never crossed paths with Shaun Lane at the club & seeing as Niukore first appeared at the Eels in the 2017 9's he probably didn't either. He had Curran at his disposal for less than 12 months & if you seen him play reserve grade you would have been unlikely to pick his new found success in the NRL. Kearney might have regretted letting Lisone go once Bunty done his knee to begin 2020 but I'm not sure if Sam would've got picked ahead of any of Pa'asi, Ah Mau, Blair or Afoa if they were all fit.
Roster management wasn't a great strength of Kearney but had he have had a NRL standard 6 or 7 to pair with Green to begin 2019 then our club may not be in such a low position as it is now
