You're the most positive guy in the world after the last 3 weeks. I've got a funny feeling about this game though. It's not quite optimism. Oh yeah that's it... dread.

Can I have some of whatever you're on? :p

It’s not easy trying to be positive - defs exhausting AF. But with so much dread in other aspects of my life it’s a nice reprieve 😂🤡
Let’s hope we all have that nice feeling that comes with a big W on Saturday! 🔥

Lang Park could be quite soggy with rain since forever or about a month and a lot of rain predicted Friday.
We will be the third game so probably be fairly chewed up.
is our forward pack better?

Man looking at our 18 to 25
None of them are nrl ready
Which means injuries really hurt our team
I can see the benefit though
All those prospects bar volkman must be on peanuts which is good for the salary cap and more experienced players would be frustrated not being picked
As well as the obvious about growing the future

Vailea for me has to be replaced in centre, even if its Aitken back to Centre. And Asi, what a total rocks and diamonds, was just a speed bump last game after a good first game. Sure had one nice TA on offense, but defense was horrible. Cant have 2 halves who are prone to either missed tackles or ineffective tackles. or both in Asi's case. Cant wait for Chanel Harris-Tavita to get back and Continue helping Shaun Johnson push the team around as well as doing a solid job in 5/8th and just FOLDING other teams Alpha's.

I hope Brown mixes it up or it will be just a slightly less bad version, but still bad, of last week.

I am the same.
I give us a winning chance every week.
Whoever we are playing.
We at home celebrate every good run, tackle, off load etc. We go totally nuts when we score.
Warriors us our families team for life.
We are fans unconditionally.

Yes. Bunnies have the better halves and hooker, but to be honest our pack is far superior with Murray out and Harris back.

I don't care about our previous form, this is very much a winnable game. They should be fired up. On the face of it, losing to the Sharks and Storm is hardly worth throwing the season in the trash over. We have shown we can beat teams on the Rabbitohs calibre, so no excuses for the lads.

I just want to see us play some decent footy for once.

No surprise he's yet to perform well in first grade
Yep, the 3 we have tested are all not at FG imo.

What do you think about Volkman? Too early to try the young man out in FG? Im real nervous leaving Asi out there as a speed bump.

Of course if we dont drop the ball and our Completions are above 85% its quite possible the backs go from embarrassing to genius, simply by possession. Give Shaun Johnson and Walsh enough time in possession and the more likely something dominant is going to occur.

Who is going to hand the ball over time and time again in our half this week? Its always fun to guess who is going to gift he opposition points with the way we are playing.

They should be fired up.

And there in lies the problem, a twenty four round problem. Brown is all words, not emotion. He is yet to show he can get a team prepped emotively game day since hes been back in the NRL for a single game. Maybe we should put a motivational speaker on the payroll permanently.

Players need to know who they are playing for, why today is the only focus, why today is so important, how very good they are, how excellent they perform as a team, then an emotive G up about the team and self pride etc etc. Twenty four rounds a year. Just like Bellamy does.

Prolly not the thread for it, however I don't wanna taint the Shaun Johnson thread anymore than it has been but....

I know this sounds hugely unfair but, after SJs return I have been bitterly reminded of the bad years, the player power years and the clunky can't do anything right years.

This got me thinking about what kind of influence someone with his distinctly separate personality has on a club.

They called him princess, it's not a very flattering name.

You really wonder how he comes across to young guys and guys who have been around the block.

Anyway call it coincidence if you will, but the earnest try hard look to this club under Brown is suddenly looking all too pooh familiar with Shaun Johnson around.

Great great man for clutch plays, just wonder what he'd be like monday to Friday, seems like a bit of a pretentious dick sometimes.

I would blood the Rookies. Shaun Johnson is not going to get better. Hes older on the decline, invest in the future.

My last whakaaro before post match :nailbiting:

I have watched some tape of souths and I come away feeling this is a very winnable game.

This game will be won in the forwards and the ruck. Its a game calling for our forward pack to dominate. Its also a game where if we lose the ruck we will lose the game. They have great go forward off Cook. They like to play one out similar to us, although the variety Cook provides out of dummy half is the difference as well as Walkers side, the other half is mud imo so dont see much happening on the other side.

I haven't been impressed with Jazz at Lock, we really need those middles to slow the ptb and dominate in the tackle, alot of our middles are struggling to contain opposition hit ups which compounds to our sets starting on our 10 and the cycle hasnt been nice once we get later into the game with the constant line defence and 6 agains against us. We and the knights have made the most tackles this year. We are defending for long periods of the game. Browny has mentioned it. I think an issue is our early tackles in the set and contact is either on the back foot or not dominant. Would love to see abit more line speed but a real strong effort in the middles early in sets.

Souths make alot of errors overall so we could get plenty of chance at evening up the possession. If we have even possesion im confident we can build some pressure but will need to keep our errors low.

I honestly think the Sharks were that good. I wouldnt be suprised if they make the final. That team is gelling really well so I'm not as freaked out by last weeks game now. As for Souths they are very beatable but it will require a really big effort from the forwards and especially Egan. We are at the bottom in dummy half runs in the comp and I feel we could do more around the ruck to generate go forward, I would like to see Reece around the ruck looking for offloads and opportunities, we are very predictable, i think asking more questions around the ruck could lead to more openings out wide.

Anyway just my thoughts, I'm quietly confident about this one but you never know as a warriors supporter.

That's a very opinionated piece.

They started calling him princess in his second or third year. Inu started it as a joke. He seemed to be ok with it and took it jovially. Noone offended by the nick would dress up as a princess otherwise.

I dont think anyone would be impressed by his start of the season, including him. He has been woeful with really bad decisions at key times. However, we should turf him based on that? He is still our best half. Our younger players all talk glowingly about him.

Hes not back here to be the star. That is not his role. He is a ROLE player. Don't get all the "seems to be a pretentious dick" part. Based on what exactly? He is different to majority of the team in some ways. Not sure how anyone who doesn't know him personally, can call him or anyone else a pretentious dick.

Dumb on the football field yes. But making a comment about someone's personality without knowing them is absurd. Might as well state that your opinion is based on reading on a forum that he is a dick because he sat on the edge of a table for breakfast.

Just get pretty boy soft cu** vibes off him. Comes from a touch background, good at doing the flashy stuff but doesn't have the grit or grind of elite players half his size in his role.

You dont need to know someone personally to know what they would be like. Some of us see more of Shaun Johnson every weekend than we do our family 😅 i think its ok to make calcuted judgement calls.

Hes a princess but he's our princess and we love to hate him.

I hated his performance last week - he was very disappointing ...but I never hate the man or the player. I am in his corner this week. Last week - outside of Lodge and a few good runs by Reece - there wasn't much to like in performance from any of the players. Shaun Johnson is not our marquee player now - Addin Fonua-Blake and Harris are with their pay packets. However, Shaun Johnson is our halfback and has a responsibility and we need him to take charge - remember 4 backline members were 21 yrs old or under - and two of those are in the spine with a hooker who had his worst game of the season. There should be heat on their performances too.... Before our spine can dictate, first we need our forwards to bend or break the line.... we need to be more dominant in tackles so we are not starting sets inside our 10m. Defensively - so many were poor on 1 on 1 tackles and that was / is inexcusable.

Many things need to improve before the spine can flourish. I expect more from all and I am hoping and expecting much improvement by all & Shaun Johnson v Souths. It's very winnable if we have ambitions of the top 8.

Yes it is just opinion.

I have no idea what he is like in life.

What I was really trying to make conjecture about is ....what if he is one of these personalities that doesn't stick in a team culture.

You have to admit there were strong allegations about a spectacular dummy spit over his salary way back when.....along the lines of pay or I will not try out there.

And even if those things aren't true, this year in an interview he did say he will pull the magic out on occasion and he was talking about magic Johnson his persona in the 3rd person....which is fine...but to some it can seem pretentious....even if it's not.

And the headline 'I wanted that shot' referring to his winning feild goal.

Like I say he might be bees knees in a club.

None of us know wot he is like, I guess his laughing Sharks game seemed very familiar...echoes Warriors past....and he is a common denominator.

There was one point in Shaun Johnson career just before he broke his leg where i thought, man this guy might be the best half ive ever seen. He was taking the line on and breaking it at will. That Shaun Johnson might have been able to carry a team, like a superstar player.

This Shaun Johnson is a far cry from that and ever since he resigned with us thats all ive heard the coachs and even the player himself say, hes here to provide direction to young a young team, hes not the same player that left.

Even within this diminished role i have been bitterly disappointed with what Shaun Johnson has put out on the field. Yes hes hit 2 game winning fg, but his play in those games has been a big reason why we have even needed to kick a fg in the first place.

I knew we where not getting the player that he was when he left but i thought we would get the player he was when he left the sharks. But that has not been the case so far this season, even the little things he has struggled with, making accurate passes, decent kicks and tackles.

Shaun Johnson the nrl player is deserving of the criticism coming his way, hes been poor. Shaun Johnson the man, is not deserving of the personal hate. As you rightfully said, none of us know the man on a personal level and can comment as to whats hes like.

To me from the outside looking in he seems like a cool guy, and a nice man. As someone whos been around rugby heads and league players for a large portion of my life i have come to appreciate people who have different views on on life, as its a nice change from the usual rugby raging achohol smashing boof heads that make up a lot of rugby teams.
