Haha they did play the dogs down there at some stage tho right, i remember going to the game.......fark now u got me thinking have i got the right city?

Talk about early Alzheimer's.
You’re not going mad- they’ve played the bulldogs there a couple of times.

I don’t think they did get shafted and I think there are real concerns for Pongas future- this is a bloke who had 5 HIAs last year alone.
I applaud them for erring on the side of caution (if that’s what they were doing).
What I find strange is calls that the doctor shouldn't have made that call with the game in the balance with 10 minutes left to go. Sorry, but I don't think that the impact of a concussion in the last ten is any different from the previous 70 minutes.

Ponga was trying to milk a penalty by indicating he'd received a knock to the head. The Knights staff weren't going to pull him off the field so the independent doctor did exactly what the NRL, and mostly likely voted for by the clubs, wanted him to do.... review the footage and decide that there was enough evidence there to pull Ponga off the field to undertake an HIA test. It is the role of the independent doctor... to review and take action when the club's staff won't.

was good to see the warriors playing physical again, AFB produced his stats last year but wasn't running with much venom, was banging people on friday, can't really blame the players too much for not wanting to crash and bash given the enforced relocations and past it coach they had.

I thought Warriors forwards set a great platform, backed up by the Bench. The four of them will be able to play longer minutes effectively. Fresh legs will help both sides of the ball.

The spine did not really combine as a unit. That will come. However, tries were scored because distribution from the PTB and Centres was fast and accurate. 3 of 4 tries came from accurate passes to support runners. The ball will always beat the man if done right.

At home where me the wife and anything between 1 and 5 of our adult kids and spouses and a few grandchildren come to watch we celebrate every win like there is no tomorrow and it looks like the players are playing like that.
There are no easy games.
Pretty even comp I reckon.
Webster will be working on what we could have done better and there is plenty but he will be stoked with the effort and commitment.

Just rewatching the game, what really stands out is how much the team are buying into it. Every time there's a try saving tackle or line break all the players are so supportive all running over and congratulating the player. I'll be happy if this continues.
You're right - similar to the Panthers!

Btw the Warriors win didn't even rate a mention on NRL 360 tonight...

It's a good way to weed out the faking: If you fake it you're going off for 10 regardless. Wonderful innovation lol.

Ponga got snapped milking, he should be apologising, not finding exscuses or some over the top ego where he thinks he would have done more in the final 10 that he didnt show in the 70, delusional. I really dislike Ponga for his self absorbed universe he lives in.

Anyway, good game. Warriors looked in control but also not quite gelling just yet. I think the roster is excellent, if Kosi can catch and defend like that, hes going to create competition for that position. So pleased to see backs in our team leaping to catch the ball again like Fus, Ken and RTS did. Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad resolves our FB woes, RTS was brilliant but 95% poisitional and defensive. Walsh was 99% offense and couldnt tackle a tackle bag. Its so good to have a defensive FB who also has pace on offensive. Pace would be something Id like to see in the team, we have Metcalf in the 30, a 100m pace specialist and his long range try reels show it, but hed have to play one of the centres and possibly the wing. Shaun Johnson feeding his pace with an overlap would be deadly. Some how we still have some money for a Marquee in the salary cap....

I was just so impressed with the defense in many periods, even Shaun Johnson got his act together on defense after a few bump offs. Egan came to us as an under developed half back, who we stuck by in dummy half. He is still a very small guy, but pound for pound one of our toughest. He now knows when to take the offside dummy halfs on, when to run 10m+ and when to pass. I wanted a marques hooker, but now I wouldnt want to lose Egan. Too many brilliant defensive efforts and guys in our team like Niukore folding players in half.

Was fabulous to see Shaun Johnson taking the line on again which is really the job of he 6, Shaun Johnson just needs to be more switched on with his bombs before starting the match. Martin Im not sold on yet, I hope he becomes like a Hughes for the warriors and cant wait for him to break the line and put his after burners on. It was nice to see some shape in the back line so early in the season. that is what scores tries the most after all.

Id have to give the game a B- or C+ or 6/10. It was definitely above our avg games last year, but still has a lot of improvement left, and by that I mean this roster and an excellent 30 man squad has the talent and attitude to become a top 4 side, which is playing 9-11/10 every game.

I see the potential that we havnt had since Cleary was coaching us. My expectations are pretty high.

I dont expect to beat the Roosters as they have some monsters coming back after a Rd1 loss. But if we put in a decent effort and stick with them on the scoreboard, I can live with losing to top 4 teams this early. After week 9 I expect us to be challenging them.

The Saifiti's were a handful in their first stint on Friday but I always thought we would be OK once they were off and that was the case, even in their 2nd stint they didnt have the same impact, too big for the modern game maybe? Problem is if we come up against a team that has 4 decent props we might find it tough.

Yes, we have gone for pace over size, but we have some Aussie forwards who have big engines, Niukore is tough as nails as is Harris and clearly AFB.

I guess we have gone for a ball playing team, which if honest I prefer as thats our natural game, but a lot of experience and go forward and hopefully a forward pack that is capable of long stints without a rest.

Which hopefully means we should be running around tired big forwards in the final 20.

But whether that happens remains to be seen. By RD9 we should start to see what Webster is trying to do here. I dont often have much trust in the Warriors since Cleary left, but I feel they got roster this year and I can see them pushing the top 4 by rd9. Expecting a loss this week, but as long as we stick with Easts, I will be happy enough with that. And to see some more shape in the back line and start building toward draw and pass along with other trickery in the back line :)

Yeah I'm all for it.

Gonna play dead then go get checked. It'll soon stop as player realize. Some are staying down when a pinky caresses the cheek. Or the skin of their lip.

To compound it the big screen should play the replay of the love tap so the crowd can get stuck in.

Guarantee the crowd will all go "oooooooooooh" in unison if it actually is a bad shot and warrants a penalty.

This post is a bit late but anyway..

It seemed largely overlooked that two of our tries were great tries by any team from a long way out.
OMG who saw that flair coming.

Our defence was brutal and unrelenting.

Webster knows how to coach the players he has.
