General NSW Cup 2024

You can't dive at the legs of the kicker. You can't tackle a kicker in the air. He was trying to charge down the ball. I called it dirty a few pages back when i first saw it. Now i am defending his actions. It was fine. An accident & unfortunate.

I am not going to get drawn into going back and forth over this
That is how abusive arguments happen on the internet
I have stated my position and sincerely hope Lussick gets 4 weeks or even 6 weeks

Anyone got footage of the ilias incident yet?

Still havent seen it only some still shots.

Hopefully Lussick gets cleared of anything but i wouldnt hedge my bets on it. Kickers are pretty sacrosanct these days. They tend to take a dim view of accidental or incidental contact with the kickers legs......no matter how good the defenders timing.

He’s looking at multiple weeks suspension apparently

Thanks man......just watched it live on the replay as well.

Yeah nah......Freddys taking a break.....unfortunately.

Certainly not as deliberate as elbowing a guy in the face
Followed up by tipping a player over to the point they are luck not to land on their head.

It will be interesting to see the media commentary this week. Souths have been a hot topic as they have been struggling.

They lost their halfback. I think Anasta said he manages him so there could be comments on how he is doing. Or in depth on the analysis.

Mitchell is high profile and had two brain explosions.

Do they spend more time on an incident in NSW Cup (a game most of them probably didn't watch) which resulted in an injury? Or the first grade game with the star fullback who had another poor game and got penalised twice for two incidents that could have been serious?

I agree with webby, they are down by six in the last minutes and he's trying to win the ball back.

He will get time but I still think it's not all as bad as everyone thinks.
Absolutely......nothing wrong with Freddys intention at all, the guy is trying his best to win a game with a charge down. Unfortunately unless people havent been watching NRL for the last 10 years contact with kickers legs no matter what the intention or circumstances are a big no no.

They clamped down on it around the time Steve Price used to specialise in it on the last.....it was around that time kickers we're ending up with ilias like injuries.

However, as others have mentioned consistency and the NRL do not make good bedfellows, apparently clearly attacking a players head with an elbow is fine.

I agree as well.

He will go for a few weeks but the kicker also has to be far enough back so he isn’t kicking as the defenders are on top of him.

A case could be made that he should have kicked earlier or been set deeper if he doesn’t want defenders attempting to charge the ball down.

Regardless, because he has injured the kicker, he’s in the wrong… but more accidental and unfortunate.

Some interesting comments on Souths forums about NSW cup.

They noted that although Souths reserves beat us, they don't really see anybody that could come through and play regular NRL.

They noted that the same could not be said about us and it was clear our much younger team is loaded with potential.

Our future is bright.

I've been scrolling through Fox Memorial line ups in the hope that Solomon Vasuvulagi was floating about but unfortunately he's not.
Brody Tamarua is back from a stint at Wynnum-Manly & could provide some extra depth to the side if required
