Player Roger Tuivasa-Sheck

He is a pro..he is doing the right thing by testing the water...when you see how a stepper like Milner Skudder transferred from Doggie under 20s to the All Blacks Roger Tuivasa-Sheck would be a sensation.
What was Milner-Skudder doing before the Dogs under 20s? I wonder if he grew up playing rugby and was poached by the Dogs. There's no guarantee anyone switching codes will be a star though wing is probably the easiest transition. Fullback he would need a kicking game and thats not really in a league fullbacks repertoire.

I agree on the kicking game for fullback, but Milner-Skudder can't kick that well so maybe Roger Tuivasa-Sheck would have to play on the wing or centre or stay in league with the pay rise he gets for being wanted by the All Blacks

will he get a payrise to go to the ABs? He's an $800k a year fullback right now... that's more than MOST of the All Blacks earn (before endorsements) I believe. Obvious exceptions being McCaw, Carter, $BW.

Usually you’d say it’d be too much of a step to crack an AB’s world cup squad in your first year in top flight union, but that’s exactly what NMS did, the blues would fall over themselves to give Roger Tuivasa-Sheck a super rugby slot in 2018 despite having not played since he was a school boy.

Every indication says he is a special, maybe generational, player so the warriors really need to make the most of these next 2-3 seasons, a lot of the squad should be in their prime. And maybe if we do get some success he won’t want to cross over.

Moneys not everything and the All Black jersey is proof enough of that. Theres hardly any regular All Black who wouldnt be better off playing in Japan or Europe. Thats the legend and lure of the black jersey...

Does that count for the boys from South Auckland with their extended families to feed?

Lets not all get down. He hasn't even arrived for pre-season training yet and we're all worried he's off. We still have 3 years of Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and a soon to be matured Sean Johnson ripping the NRL a new one while they play off the back of some great dummy half service from Issac Luke.

He came back because he wanted to come home to Auckland, buy a house, set himself up and play for the Warriors. He's on good money and the cap will most likely increase by the time he comes off contract, he's marketable so he's a good chance of getting TPA's. When it comes to re-signing him we'll be in a good position.

oh I completely agree. I was just pointing out there's a moderate to good chance he won't get a payrise to switch codes...

here's hoping 3 years at the warriors doesn't wreck him as well...

Dont forget that if he decides to go to Rugby Union he can walk out on his contract tomorrow if he so chooses. Not that I think he would but you never know...

Technically he shouldn't be able to walk out and head off to union. But unfortunately history has shown us the Union clubs or World Rugby aren't really worried about enforcing a league contract. Technically if I was on contract and wanted to walk away from my contract to another indstry I wouldn't be allowed to until I'd seen out my contract or organised something with my employer. But professional sports is a little bit different to the real world.

The main example or probably the only example is SBW. I have to laugh as the owner of Toulon was recently complaining on the need to enforce contracts with Quade Cooper not honoring his deal and they needed to recruit someone else.

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck may want to go back to union but I still think with the salary cap level in the NRL compared to the money in union in this part of the world; along with Doyle and some of the players we have for him to play alongside we will be in a good situation to keep him. For all we know he could have a few kids by then and wouldn't want to travel as much as the union guys do.

The best thing we can do is build an environment he can perform along with a team that competes every week and can challenge for a premiership. Keep him happy and make any decision to move on a hard one.

Peter Hiku is better than anything we have in the centres right now and neither Brown nor Taylor would have put up that limp wristed defence we saw at the end of the season

You want them in the centres?
