yeah those are the same people who said we would get the spoon this year lmao !!
His career was also supposed to die here. I wouldn't put it past him hearing that and being determined to prove everyone wrong.

He has led by example this year. His defense has improved ten fold and has made some breaks where last year it seemed like he was just doing hit ups.

A true champion.

Roosters fans would not STFU about how his career would go backwards here and that he should go "Home".

Only thing that worries me is how someone like Val Holmes is up to 20 odd trys and Sharks always seem to find open space and holes for him to run into where as RTS purely does donkey work here. Not a biggy but it would be nice to feed our most athletic player once in a while and getting him use to going over the line

A fair question....we seem to be very poor at creating space for our fullback despite having some really talented ones over the years

Is it because for lots of those tries Holmes ends up in the winger's position? Maybe we use Rog as more of a threat to draw players or a ball player.

That said we don't seem to run that many set plays like a block play or Cappy sweeping movement anymore. Seem to use brute force to punch at the line and commit defenders instead or tricking them with moving bodies. Maybe that Cows assistanct we hired might fix that.

Huge congratulations to Roger who has received the most votes by nrl.com reporters and contributors to be named 2018 Captain of the Year!!!!!

https://www.nrl.com/news/2018/08/28/captain-of-the-year-nrl.com-experts-have-their-say/
That first game this year set the tone didn't it? He was fucken pumped up like a truck tyre. That first try-saver will live in my memory for years to come. He had no right to stop it. The team lifted from there and he has made several saves since. And his metrage has stayed consistent. What an inspiration he is.

Utter bullshit or maybe an outdated rumour. Not only is RTS locked in here, but they've also gotten Mbye recently. While he could shift to the halves, he's a terrible halfback and a good to great fullback.

And who's gonna trust Clearly at this time? This is exactly what will come back to bite him around the Gould saga and what his own recruits at the Tigz will be wondering about. He got caught out big time and it will take a long time and a lot of stability for folks to put that to one side. The only way he can do that is to remain at the Tigz and somehow become successful. A tall order potentially after letting Marshall and Farah potentially say 12 months too long...

Yeah he's altered his mindset heaps to allow G.Reedy more try bombing opportunities.

I think making him our next 6 after Kaks retires will be a fab idea. Like Ponga - save his legs and get more miles out of him.

He used to be a Kiwi.
Nah that was Bunji Marshall I think he got confused with, hes always been an Aussie. his appearances for Aus in the black and white jersey cement that. ;-p

So its really between RTS and Cook for Dally M? To be fair Cook has had the best hookers season ive ever seen. But it seems RTS is just in front, but picked up nothing last weekend, so really needs to pick up 3 points this weekend to seal the deal? Im not 100% sure even then the aussies will give a kiwi a dally m. Jones only got one because the club would have threatened to withdraw with such blatant bias he was so far ahead of everyone else that year.

Ok, just to clarify once again Stacey Jones never won the Dally M player of the year award.

There are two winners who have played for the Kiwis, they are Gary Freeman and Jason Taumalolo.

Its neck and neck between Cook and RTS. Whoever gets the 3 points this week gets it . Would be amazing to have RTS as captain of the year and Dally M medalist. Fus as leading try scorer and winger of the year along with the boys going deep into the finals.

RTS is a far more balanced player. He creates, runs, links etc. Holmes is a pure ball runner/support player. He couldn't create shit at an Indian restuarant.

Agree that Rog is better but Holmes ability is to go length of the field or finish.

As you say Val can't create anything else but 100 metre solo tries are quite handy.

Do we really have to make every thread a Kata thread? Kata's passed to Ken for tries exactly the same number of times RTS has - why aren't we complaining that RTS isn't creating more opportunities for Ken?

Situational dude. There have been times where the pass was so obvious for Kata and he missed the chance. That is why people are so dirty about it. Remember Stats do not tell you everything. You could complete 90% but still play terrible if you make no metres or have any threat on attack
