Soooo we are essentially transferring Tomkins money to RTS.

Does that mean we still have a little cash hanging around or did we use it all on upgrades for the likes of Matulino/Hurrell etc?

Reading the press release from tomkins I feel for the guy you can tell he loves it at the Warriors, doubt he'd play for another nrl team in the future.

Kiwi and Aussie players get home sick in the ESL by the million and get granted early releases......goes both ways people.....goes both ways....

It's a mistake to stick it out in a situation where you are not happy, life 101.

Good luck to Sam, he will go back to the ESL and be the Man from day one, he belongs there really....light weight punching above his weight class in the NRL ( that is not a reflection on ESL players, he is too small for the NRL in reality).

I would have liked to have seen Tomkins play halfback and Johnson in a standoff / five eight for you younguns role.

Ah well The bigger news is that Doyle has been going all out for the Kiwi international stars in Foran and RTS.

He got one.

Who's next ? Someone else will come, the drive to chase the biggest NZ names in the game has been relentless.

no offence to Tomkins but this is a more exciting signing imo. Tomkins has gone better that I thought he would but I always worried about his lack of physicality.

RTS has that attribute and he is just coming into his prime and hes proven in the NRL, he could be playing for the next 10 years.

A name that did cross my mind last week as Tim Simona, a guy who could cover 1-5 easily.

This however, yeah, much prefer this.

Got to be honest, as big a fan of Sam as I am... I think weve come better off as a result of this.

Massively, massively stoked.

Physically, Sam was always going to be one step behind the rest in the NRL, and as sublime as his skill levels are, he was essentially playing with a handicap the whole time. The same cannot be said for RTS. Between him and SJ, we have 2 of the the 3 best athletes in the NRL.

Can't sleep right now.

I expect Fish may be gone or dropped to a low end contract based on his injury problems. It would be great if the Warriors could keep him and get him NRL capable. The speed in the team would be blindin with him on a wing

edit: then we just need an NRL standard centre to partner Hurrell, maybe Loloheia could be that guy

Disapointed Tomkins is going, after one season and 5 games a decision has been made. Tomkins wanted to prove himself and was going great until the women card is played... Oh well that's life, most of us are in that boat... Sigh!

RTS is going to be awesome, I really hope someone can gel the backline like ST had been able to next year

Rather have someone that wants to be here than someone whose mind is half the world away

mixed emotions really, sad and happy at the same time, Just so happy RTS signed with us, major coup for the warriors, huge signing, the future at the back looks bright for us ....
pretty gutted for ST been a big fan, probably the best thing for him if his heart is at home with family, it happens:(... but hey we got RTS :)

The worst part of that video was when it ended just as Gould started talking about how the Roosters had been grooming him to be their long term fullback.
Great individual try, but what I like most is the humble way he scores and walks back to his mates without blowing kisses or kissing his armband.
Hope his humbleness wears off on a few of the OTT Warriors.

When you're down 14-0 against the only winless team in the league you can't afford to go overboard.

I do get what you're saying though, he's always come across as a humble guy.

English star leaving his contract early? I smell a premiership coming... This is why Graham hasn't won over here yet.

Possible perhaps Tomkins was pushed? No point paying 1.55mil to two fullbacks. Dean: "Hey Sam, do you ever think about England...? Wouldn't it be lovely to go back...?"

At $800K (reportedly) a season would that make him the highest paid Warrior? Hoffman was what $650K? Whats SJ, Mannering and Hurrell on? Can't be more than $800K surely?
Don't tell princess that.............................................:p

I'm not convinced this is the awesome deal many see.

I worry about the Kiwi boys. The culture we have been trying to iradicate may return easier without the foreign players.

I think Sam has more than proved himself to be NRL level. Listen to the Ozzie opinion, they rated him far higher than most here.

Lets hope there is time before the June 30 deadline for Sam's mrs to head home, and Sam to fall for a local lass (or lad, as some keep alluding to).

And yet no one has asked the most important question of all.....

Why didn't the Tin Tiger tell us of this?

Sad that Sammy is leaving but pleased that we've signed a player of RTS's caliber!!!
