General Random Stuff Not Deserving It's Own Thread

Here's some of things I've been thinking about this morning...

Disclaimer: what follows are opinions, though I may choose to present it as if it is fact, simply to aid the flow of conversation.

Lote Tuqiri is way overrated. Inept defence (including our own) made him look so much better than he is. When he comes against a good teams, he looks like a hack...

Are the Morons overrated? I don't care much for Origin, but could it be that the Morons keep winning simply because NSW suck real bad? I mean, they have the talent, but it's not incredible. Lockyer is long past his best. Thurston too. Great forwards, but nothing write home about in regards to the backline. Now, my bigger question is, who'd you think would win between Qld and the Kiwis? Now that would a fcuking excellent match-up!

Isn't it strange the Kiwi's lost their first match against the Kangaroos in the 4N, who were fielding their B-team, and were playing away, only to go on and twist that right around the following weekend? I'm starting to get the feeling that Australia, with years of dominance across the sporting spectrum, have forgotten how to clean out the dead wood.

Should I, or should I not, click on that ad for penis enlargements?

I mean, if it were bigger, I might have the confidence to click on the date Russian girls one!

I think Australia have lost that aura of invincibility that they once had. We now know we have a generation of footballers that can take the game to the Australians and win.

NSW are terrible. Sides from the past from QLD would put big points past this current side. It sticks out like dogs bollocks to me that the problem with the NSW starts with the captain and moves down. Gidley isn't a rep players a-hole.

I personally think that QLD team is excellent....operative word being 'team'. They play as one, and have done for the past 5 years. They don't look as though it takes them any time at all to gel.

As for the backline being average, at one point this was their backline: Slater, Folau, Hodges, Inglis, Boyd, Lockyer, Thurston. How is that average?

As for Kiwis v QLD, I think the Kiwis draw strength from the same thing QLD do. They play as a unit. However my money would be on QLD.

Touche. Personally, I only really rate Boyd out of that lot.

Having said this, all those guys deserve their places in the team. There's no-one really better, at the moment.

I think that the tide will start turning in the next few years for NSW. They have some good talent such as Carney and Uate who should be in the team this year.

Really? You don't rate Hodges when fit, or even Inglis? I know he's a dick but he's basically the best centre running around. You must really be in despair when it comes to our centre stocks, Moon and Ropati.

I wasn't paying enough attention to league when Hodges was going good (which is what, over a season ago?) to really be able to rate him. But my vague memories of him don't stand out. Why would he be better than say, Jennings, or SKD, or whatever? For me to rate someone, they really have to stand above the crowd. That's not to mean I don't think they're no good, but rather just not as good as everybody else thinks. As for Inglis, I have huge contempt for the fact that he only plays well when he feels like it. He's brilliant, on occasions, yes, but I'd rate a more consistent performer higher.

But, and I have to be careful here, to really rate a player, we need to have a definite scale and rules on which players are to be assessed, otherwise, as I am here, pretty much just blowing out a lot of hot air.

Yeah you don't know what you're talking about! Nah jks. Hodges IMO was excellent when at full fitness. Almost perfect centre. At the start of his career he was a dickhead, lots of niggle in his game. I can't think of a weakness, and he's so deceptively quick. Agree re Inglis, just chooses when he wants to play properly. Brilliant all the same.

In a nutshell homeboy this is how it goes

- toopi was considered the best centre in the world in 2002/ maybe 2003?
- willie tonga was probably the best around 2004?
- then it was gasnier, hodges was considered to be 2nd best
- when gasnier left hodges was the best for a while before he got injured. (yes, folau and inglis were good centres too)
- when hodges got injured i think inglis took that title

hodges was part of that QLD backline considered to be the best in history:

1. slater
2. boyd/tate
3. inglis
4.hodges
5. folau
6. lockyear
7. thurston

i don't rate Jennings at all; i think he's good in open space and he's a good finisher but apart from his blinding speed he doesn't have the size or skills to be 1 of the best centers. I do like SKD and he deserves to be the Dally M center of 2010 and a nominee for golden boot but he isn't the most consistent player. In saying that; I don't mind the roosters and I hope he keeps up his form and if you compare Inu and SKD they've shown equal amounts of potential in their careers so hopefully old mate Inu takes a lesson from SKD and gives us a brilliant year

Uate is a Fijian and should be playing for Fiji.

SHOULD being the key word there. It's a joke he's gunna be playing State of ORIGIN. The Aussies just need to man up and rename it to Team Red vs Team Blue. The name Origin has NO credibility anymore.
