Raiders vs Warriors Gameday Chatter [Round 19, 2022]

Raiders2

We could do this.
If the stars align and the boys keep their heads. I think the Raiders should beat us given how we're playing this season and with the lack of confidence in the team but we have been improving under Stacey.
And of course if the NRL have decided that it's our day and we get 50% of the calls

- The Warriors have won 5 of their last 8 games in Canberra after only winning 1 of their first 11 matches played in the Australian capital.
- In the last 3 games between the Warriors & Raiders the team leading at halftime hasn't gone on to win the match.
- Hudson Young has scored a try in each of his last 3 games vs the Warriors & Dallin Watene-Zelezniak has crossed in 3 consecutive games vs the Raiders.
- In the 72 minutes that Reece Walsh has previously played off the bench he's managed to contribute 2 Tries, 4 Line Breaks, 9 Tackle Breaks, 1 Try Assist, 1 Forced Drop Outs & has had no Errors.

C’mon lads, hope we get some stiff defence and what we saw against the Tigers with Chanel Harris-Tavita at the back isn’t a one off (organisational effectiveness more than individual defence I mean).

Either way have a crack boys and grab the FG to break Tricky Ricky’s heart again please - or just a Janfin special will do….

Looking forward to the game. A good recent history in Canberra for us. As pointed out on Fox video package for this weekend Shaun Johnson seems to like playing Canberra. Will need to contain Canberra forwards and slow down Tapine etc.

Asi has his chance to put himself out there for another contract.

Would like to see Dallin Watene-Zelezniak and Montoya continue their recent good metre eater games, makes a big difference.

Would like to see some improvement from
Curran and his hands/line running at 2rw.

Warriors by 12.
Arthurs first tryscorer
Addin Fonua-Blake anytime tryscorer.

Hopefully the storm game last week sapped all their energy. This is a very rough but winnable game for us!

Will be interested to see how our bench is used with effectively 2 back rowers on the interchange. Would be a shame to see Katoa up the middle of used that way.
I’ve got a good feeling about Asi and getting his confidence up in Q Cup 🤞🏾

Well optimism is out the window but hoping the lads give it a good go.
Will be interested in how Katoa goes, especially with all the rumours.
I agree I do not think Reece has been a shining light, raw potential at the moment but many mistakes make his effectiveness negligible, 14 may in fact be his best position at this stage of his development.
Depends on how much the game last week took out of the Raiders.

Best part of game day threads is the pre-game optimism.

Worst part is always the game itself.

Post game thread can get pretty fucking depressing too.

Let’s hope for something different today.

Raiders cup side playing on sky sport 4 atm. Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad at fullback, i only just turned it on so haven't seen how he's going yet
Mixed bag, made good metres against some shit defence off one run but poor defence to let one bulldog score and then stupid pass which gave dogs another try. Defensive structures dont look good in this league and this is supposedly a top of table clash (according to blocker), so maybe that's not helping and might be a bit rusty but not sticking out as anything flash.

Chanel Harris-Tavita imo is a far better option at FULL BACK than Walsh. In fact Chanel Harris-Tavita's 3 showings at FB have been 3 of his best games for the club, hes not lightning fast, but he has great defensive vision and has fantastic defense which is what you want from a FB. Yes it would be nice if we had one of the elite FBs who can do both Offense and Defense, but we keep wasting money on 30 minute props.

Throw Walsh on the Wing, that would give us an idea of what it would be like to play Metcalf in that position next year.

Walsh has just fizzled from having pace to having nothing on offense and he never had ANYTHING on defense, so glad we getting a real full back again. I hope Volkman and Metcalf kick on to become marquees halves for us in the next few years, Volkman has the game management style similar to how Stacey Jones played and Metcalf has the long range speed and capability of busting tackles into broken field play, its his defense we will need to work on. Im also glad we at least have Shaun Johnson to mentor them both, especially with Shaun Johnson being Metcalfs idiol.

Warriors team looks great on paper, one could be forgiven for thinking they have a chance if they hadnt watched the team play this year.
