We needed to free up second row spots for our centres.
That could work... that might free up outside backs positions for our props...

I think Chanel Harris-Tavita can become that, he just hasn’t been able to show it because he’s always been in a team with a more senior half. If you look through his career, he was only 17 in his U20 day’s, then next season he was in NSW cup where Lino took the organising responsibilities, now he’s in first grade where Green does all the organising. This sort of thing will take experience but he has 100% shown signs already of being that type of player, SK has even said it himself.Running is definately a strength. Not sure Chanel Harris-Tavita is the organising type though. Chanel Harris-Tavita/Turner almost has a Milford/Nikorima feel to it. Might need a game organising 9 with that combo and they're hard to find.
Scouts don’t go around to these U15 games and go “oh look he’s good at telling his players where to go and managing the game”.Can we stop signing every talented running ifve eight in the country and save the money time and resources for signing organising halves. Brisbane are screwed because of this too many running halves spoils the broth.
Brain power is as important as athletic ability in the halves. Gotta have the basic physical level but they should be then testing on mental skills to decide who to backScouts don’t go around to these U15 games and go “oh look he’s good at telling his players where to go and managing the game”.
The halves that can only organise are never gonna make it to NRL because they’re not talented enough. That’s the plain truth. You need to be able to bring some other elite skill to the table. They back the coaching staff to develop the organising, which we obviously have a shit track record at.
Yep thats the problem in a nutshell.Scouts don’t go around to these U15 games and go “oh look he’s good at telling his players where to go and managing the game”.

That's exactly my point. That's why I don't have an issue with the club signing the most talented halves they can. As long as they are decently intelligent, the organising aspect will come later.Organising half’s need experience. I’m sure Green was meh as an organiser back in his younger days, but the mileage he’s had now gives him confidence, experience and wisdom which is something most if not all youngsters need to do their job well.
Definitely agree with this kind of testing, would filter out young halves like Tui Lolohea etcBrain power is as important as athletic ability in the halves. Gotta have the basic physical level but they should be then testing on mental skills to decide who to back
It's a good theory, and is how it should work, however the Warriors have failed miserably at developing the organising part of the ideal. That's exactly my point. Absolutely, where did they find him? That guy is future FG material without doubt. Also Perham will play FG this season without a doubt. He is the best of the new threesome.Peston Riki is a standout. Wouldn’t mind seeing his brother at the club
NRL.com has this:
Warriors: Good news for Warriors fans with Issac Luke cleared to return after missing last week's game with a hamstring injury. Jazz Tevaga successfully beat his dangerous contact charge and will come off the bench to allow Luke to start. Gerard Beale was omitted an hour before kick-off, while Adam Keighran and Liligiifo Sao were cut on Friday afternoon.
After that I am going back on the whisky. I can no longer cope. It's a good theory, and is how it should work, however the Warriors have failed miserably at developing the organising part of the ideal.
They have this saying once in a generation player and they applied it to the Warriors greatest ever Stacey Jones, but that was bullshit, Henry Paul was of the same generation and a brilliant organiser and runner.
Before those two names there was a stack of good organising halves, Clayton friend, Gary Freeman. After them you had Tony Kemp ( Brilliant Kicking game) and many others. So something changed on the NZ landscape to see those types end up being no more.
The Warriors overlooked Paul. There is something really shit at the way we evaluate our halves.
Even Isaac Luke should have been snapped up by this club as a potential half purely on the basis that he could defend, pass brilliantly and possessed a good kicking game.
I suspect in the modern climate that anyone like them, will be overlooked for flashy ball runners like Chanel Harris-Tavita. . . who joins a very long list of players like Gene Ngamu, Lance Hohaia, that the club failed to teach the organising side to (Add on Lolohea, Tuimavave, Hingano).
Have they learned anything from all this ? No they let Mason Lino go when he was just starting to get ahead as an organiser, he is twice anything that Chanel Harris-Tavita or AK offer.
Look at how long it took them to turn Johnson into an organising half, he was much better at it in the end, but watching him for the Sharks he seems to have doubled his organising ability with his kicking long to settle the game for them in an impossibly short time frame, Johnson is the poster boy for how the Warriors let people like him, Hurrell, and Kata believe that they play to score Trys / to look good first. Throw in Fusitua too, clown has dropped nuts since he stopped being in the race for top Try scorer, Ben Matulino after the shoulder charge ban says hi you dick.
This club needs to own the fact that they can't develop Athletes into footballers and that they need to change something radical to achieve this., So far the skills academy has been shit.
Blood pressure pills work best taken in the morning. Can we stop signing every talented running ifve eight in the country and save the money time and resources for signing organising halves. Brisbane are screwed because of this too many running halves spoils the broth.
Just had my blood pressure pill, usually take it at night, started taking it two hours before kick off on game day. There will be a lot of self medicating going on today, the Booze Barons must love the Warriors.
It's going to be hard not to form a prejudicial opinion of Kearney if his bench is a flop today, ? I know he's up against it, but if they try hard and the game plan sinks them then . . . . .there will be hell to pay lol.
