PUMA has extended its nine-year association with the Vodafone Warriors by signing a new three-year sponsorship deal with the club.
After outfitting the Vodafone Warriors with their apparel and footwear since 2000, the global sportswear giant’s new contract will be focused on footwear.
“PUMA has done a fantastic job for the Vodafone Warriors for nine years and we’re delighted to extend our relationship into a 10th season and beyond,” said Vodafone Warriors chief executive Wayne Scurrah.
“Since becoming associated with the club, PUMA has consistently demonstrated the highest levels of professionalism and has given the Vodafone Warriors a look that we believe has been one of the strongest of all NRL teams.
“PUMA has been associated with success at the club, its brand appearing on our jersey the only time the Vodafone Warriors have appeared in the NRL grand final until now (in 2002).
“PUMA provides us with a product of the highest standard and that will continue to be the case with this new contract.”
Paul Mendel, Country Manager for PUMA, welcomed the extension of the company’s association with the Vodafone Warriors both in the National Rugby League competition and the National Youth Competition.
“PUMA is proud to announce the continuation of its long term relationship with the Vodafone Warriors,” said Mendel.
“The extension for 2009 and beyond further allows the brand to showcase its innovative Team sport and Sport lifestyle products in association with a premiere NRL club.”
The new PUMA deal will see the Vodafone Warriors and the Vodafone Junior Warriors outfitted in PUMA boots and casual footwear.
The club also announced that Kiwi manufacturer Canterbury of New Zealand had been signed as a new major sponsor and official apparel supplier.
Canterbury has a long-standing involvement in rugby league as an apparel supplier to both the New South Wales and Queensland State of Origin teams plus the Warrington Wolves in the English Super League.
“We’re extremely excited about heading into the 2009 season with our players wearing PUMA’s exceptional range of playing footwear and the outstanding technologies in our new Canterbury of New Zealand apparel,” said Scurrah.
Further details about Canterbury’s sponsorship will be announced at a later date.
