Just so you guys know, no one in that thread is actually being serious - it's a long standing joke, putting mud into peoples names in inventive way. Magic Stick coined the phrase regarding Heremaia a few seasons ago and it caught on. It's not obvious when you're new to the forum but we have our own style of sadistic humour. Everyone on here is a Warriors tragic - why else would we spend so much time on sites such as these? I don't think anyone is in the position to question how much of a fan someone else is - we all have our own ways of dealing with the ups and downs that comes with being a Warriros fan.
Only thing I read was at the start of the thread it talks about getting the mud names sorted for when the mud naming starts. Sounded like people were preparing their rotten fruit with the expectation of throwing it at someone. Wasnt aware of the joke thing.

Im much too sensitive to 'mud' the boys just yet but for all its worth, mud.wellington!:D

Yip, it's okay to have League 'give them' the use of their park in Christchurch and then restrict the number of club games played there or want them to move to their white elephant of an Eden Park to help it pay of debts incurred from their World Cup but they certainly couldn't share their expertise by letting one of their coaches help with the fitness levels of one of the "enemy's" teams.
I know your probably only referring to NZ rugby but...

Fark that is top forumming by them, hadn't seen that. I have to be honest and say that I am fanatical about two other sports teams and that level of negativity is farking special. One of my teams hasn't won anything in 58 years but the supporters don't behave like that. Each to their own but starting a thread slagging off your players the week pre season starts takes the cake.
I see you've been a member for about four weeks Keano16. Welcome aboard mate!
If you stick around throughout the upcoming season you will learn much about the veteran members on this, and the previous, Warriors website.
The 'regulars' here are some of the most dedicated, loyal, intelligent, passionate, educated, die-hard Warriors tragics you will ever find....anywhere!
As such, they are entitled to their own brand of 'in-house' humour which, in time, you will completely understand....and appreciate.
As Spence pointed out, the 'Mud' theme originated with Magic Stick, who has become one of my favorite posters.
Short, sharp, and blunt.....that is the Magic Stick method! He, and Fazz, are the anti PC posters. They will, without hesitation, say the things that many of us are thinking, but are too worried about offending other peoples opinions to say ourselves!
You might see them as haters, but the rest of us see them as Warrior addicts that just won't accept mediocrity!
Stick around mate, and enjoy the ride......this is a great place to visit. ;)

Every team spouts the same PR about the toughest pre-season ever and so on. The difference for us this time is we have a full compliment of sports science pros, and hopefully better off-field facilities. So hopefully our more expansive approach will yield better results.

And hopefully there is a fair amount of sports psychology assistance going on behind the scenes... though Iro leaving will have helped remedy the attitude issues, from what I have heard.

Hopefully we also have a squad that saw what happened last year and are prepared to put their all in so it doesn't happen again.

The new League Fix episode focuses on the pre-season training we've been doing. Has made me extremely optimistic. Elliott and his crew seem like true professionals. Exactly what we need at the club.

Haha that was refreshing, been a lot of doom and gloom recently. I'm backing the club one hundred percent, seems like ever since Bluey left we've been moving in all the right directions, and I know it's dangerous but I'm feeling really optimistic about next year. The disappointment from last year is still a bit fresh though lol

Have they started talking about bulking up yet? Trust me...its coming.....
He already covered that in one of his first interviews.

He basically said the groups of players he had leant themselves to being big - that will almost certainly not be the case here.

Look no further than the 'mud' thread. They havent even kicked off a ball and already the half empty, pessimistic, negative vultures are sharpening their knives. Nothing like kicking a man when he's down. Sad really, in a pathetic sort of way...
Kind of a little hypocritical to knock people having a little off-season fun in a non-serious thread when you have joined in on the "negativity" yourself.

Perhaps you are not genuinely using this as proof of the negativity, but maybe people in glass houses...

I admit I tend to be a negative, glass-half-empty person, but I will wait to see a positive turn-around in attitude from some of the rogue players before my expectations go through the roof. Signs are looking good, but they were prior to "2012", as well.

Matt Elliott (Here) said that Leuluai will be in the halves and that Ben Henry will be used at a backrower, not a centre.

He also talked about how impressive Leuluai had been so far during pre-season, in terms of his leadership. If we go with a co-captain situation, would definitely not be surprised if Thomas was among the group.

I'd like to see us adopt the co-captain route. Something like Mannering, Friend and Leuluai would work well for me.

Fantastic to see Elliot has real plans for the players, and they're the right ones. Man am I glad the Dunce McClennan days are gone. Interesting to see him heaping praise on Henry... he's a great kid that's for sure, but will he be good enough to crack a first grade spot? Mannering, Lowrie and Mateo all pick themselves, from there you have so many to choose from for potentially 2 bench spots. I don't know if I really like the feel of Mannering, Lowrie and Henry all being on at the same time, nothing scary in that with regards to attack.

Good to see the maturing Kevin Locke waving his hands around like a dick in the background

Pity he was only trying to catch the attention of the grannies passing by in the Rest Home bus ;)

With that one obvious statement, Elliott has exceeded Blueys experience.

IMO, Mutts, Friend, and Henry were the most worthy of the Warriors name this season.

Henry went from being the receptacle of all my abuse & frustration....to the man who's hand I would most like to shake. None of his failings were actually his fault!
He didn't ask to be played over Inu, and he didn't ask to be played at centre. That was McLennan madness!

Whenever and wherever he was played, he appeared to give 110% and showed more ticker than many of the more seasoned players put together.
He was asked to face-off against some of the games biggest names, (Hodges, Inglis, Matai etc) in his 1st year and out of position, and he stunned both me, and them.

He would be my pick as the most improved and most potentially awesome rookie of the last couple of seasons. A year under the new regime could very well prove my claim.

We have returned to a position where we now have depth for most positions so Henry will possibly languish in the Vulcans, or fill a bench spot, but someone who showed me so much heart, strength and stamina....in exceptionally poor company....deserves a shot!

Just my humble opinion.

That post was originally in this thread and must have moved there by admin. I never actually intended to ever post on that thread. Also, its negative only to myself, not any player.

As far being you being a 'negative, glass-half-empty person', on this forum at least, you would undoubtedly take cake.

My bad. I had no way of knowing it had been moved. But to get involved in the conversation is to condone it. But so what! It was a bit of fun. These guys are athletes, not gods. We will not be struck down for taking the piss.

I take no insult from the last comment. I know who I am, and I don't pretend to be someone I'm not, so I take no offence from your opinion.

Dammm was that Hurrell who picked him up and powerbombed his ass! Brock Lesnar style! I cant wait for next season! Once again they will be the underdogs.
I think it was and I also think it wasn't a smart move cause for his 5 mins of fame from the boys he has to work with this monster all year...lol..... great to see abit of attitude being brought back.

Completely agree. Future captain material in my opinion.

As for Kevin Locke waving his hands in the background like an idiot... say what you like, but I think that does speak to his character, and that he probably is in need of a attitude readjustment. Can you imagine Billy Slater, Cameron Smith, Jonathan Thurston, etc, etc, acting like that? It might seem like a minor thing to pick up on, but I reckon it gives a pretty telling indication of his level of maturity. He is a fantastic player, but he'll never be one of the best (which potentially, I think he could be - certainly at the Warriors at any rate) if he doesn't grow up a bit.
