PJ Marsh

PJ Marsh 2002 2

According to the Herald on Sunday, the Warriors have been aggressively chasing the signature of PJ Marsh.

According to the article he declined a 3 year offer from the warriors, and then declined an improved offer from the warriors last week.

Hope not.

He is not worth a big offer to old.

I doubt he will come back after we didn't show much faith in him last time after his injury.

He was overworked here as a player. I Always thought he would end up getting hurt because he was so small giving so much for the team. I know that is easy to say in hindsight, but i do recall thinking it.

Wonder how much we've thrown at him?

Would you play him at half or hooker or rather not sign him at all?

He said in and interview that he was upset at the lack of game time at Parra and would like to get back to the Warriors now he's knocking back offers.
I agree with JonB he's not worth a big contract, he might think he's still worth what we paid for him first time round.

Obviously then they're looking at him at 6 or 7, does he have the kicking game to partner Ropati in the halves? The club's invested a lot of time in Ropati, I think it'd be an error to move him out of there or indicate they're looking at it when finally he's hitting some good form. Confusing message that one.

I'd rather target a backrower.

Stuart Webb is another mentioned as being targeted, he's a good little player, fiesty, but he's a hooker and we already have a couple of good hookers in my book. Apparently he's going to reject us and the Cowboys and head to the ESL.

i dont reckon we should go for a high profile hooker, we dont need to waste our money. pj wants to play 80 minutes, and i dont think he will get that here.

Good move.

We should never have let him go back to Parra in the first place.

I might be spitting the dummy but seriously what the hell are we doing chasing hookers when our backrow is an absoloute rabble, for god's sake Penrith have thrown an offer to Bronson Harrison when they still have a Frank Pritchard, we have NO backrower like EITHER of those two. I simply can't understand why we are targeting hookers when we deperatly need a decent backrower, our halves have been playing solidly in most of our games unlike our backrow & the backrow is the other VITAL link to the back's & our current backrowers are failing miserably. TO THE MANAGEMENT THE HALVES ARE NOT THE ONES LOSING US GAMES, WE ARE GETTING COMPLETLY DOMINATED IN THE BACKROW.

I would have to echo your sentiments in regards to the apparent lack of urgency / interest our management has displayed in signing a 2nd rower for next year.

I cant see us signing anybody in that area now

Exactly what i was thinking.

Wouldn't suprise me if this was true given our history of senseless recruiting.

well, we paid PJ's wages for over a year when his neck was bung. but we shouldnt expect any special treatment from him because that doesnt happen in professional sports.

At the time his career was in limbo coz no one knew for sure if he'd play again or not. Frankly I was disappointed with his leaving. Btw, does any one remember in 2005 after one of the games they played us at home and he had a spray at Kempy?

80 minute footballers are awesome. If PJ signed, we could use more interchanges for keeping our forwards on the field fresh. But having said that, our tandem hookers are doing the job. I like Fein and Gatis. Like others have suggested, I'd rather fix our problem areas first. Problem 1: Lack of spark in the backline... Tate will definitely help. Problem 2: Crap backrowers.... thats the one we havent addressed yet.

And arguably, problem 3 is our halves, but I reckon Witt Rovelli and Ropati will do the job for us. Especially Ropati, I like the way that man makes things happen. I know not everyone agrees, so lets not go into that one too deeply. :)

In short: PJ would be good to have back on board, but lets solve our back row first.

The alarming part aside from the obvious is that backrow. I at first didn't think it was that big a deal the more I see of it thou the more of a sore thumb it is. Unfortunately I don't think we can attract any one over :(

@Skinny_Ravs

It's not obvious to you that the backrow is a problem?
Not initially it wasn't. I think that was because much of the focus prior to it was with the halves. Then the backrow comment kept coming and coming and I had a look more into it.

I must admit I still have a thing for PJ...sigh...

Best of luck in the sunny north!
