I'd like to see Hurrell on Brown... Given Brown's jersey grabbing tackling that would be fun all day long...
Won't happen though, ME for all I like about the guy, he seems to make some perplexing selections.

Yeah a power runner versus Brown would be ideal actually... particularly when you consider Brown's love for silly grubbers and offloads which generally result in opposition line breaks.
Hurrell is bigger, faster, stronger, and ironically probably tackles better... the more I think about the match up, the more it makes me think it will be Benry on Brown...
The team lacks size and impact off the bench therefore;
1 Locke (Fisiiahi if injured)
2 Fisiiahi/Laumape
3 Henry
4 Nielsen (Laumape if injured)
5 Vatuvei
6 Leuluai
7 Johnson
8 Packer
9 Friend
10 Matulino (needs to start as he is average off the bench)
11 Mateo
12 Mannering
13 Lowrie
14 Lillyman
15 Rapira
16 Ikahihifo
17 Matagi
Fish
Vatuvei
Hurrell
Nielsen
Laumape
Shaun Johnson
TL
Packer
Friend
Matagi
Matulino
Lillyman
Mannering
Bench:
Henry
Rapira
Gubb
Mateo
I like the idea of a big angry pack... Rapira is benched so we can use his quick play the ball and experience off the bench. With Lillyman and Matulino in the second row - Matagi can start with Packer... I'd love to see Matulino and Lillyman running a bit wider to make more metres. Mateo to come on when our pack has softened theirs up.
What I would love to see though... a front-rower doing a hitup on the third tackle... our sets usually start with: fullback/wing doing a kick return, followed by a dummy half run from a back, followed by a dummy half run from a back, sometimes again followed by a dummy half run (or first receiver run) from a back or a small forward (aka Lowrie or Mannering)... If our front row are only playing approx 40 mins per game - they can get back and do the third and fourth hit ups... make some metres...
1. Fish
2. Laumape
3. Hurrell
4. Henry
5. Vatuvei
6. Siejka
7. Johnson
8. Packer
9. Friend
10. Matulino
11. Mannering
12. Mateo
13. Lowrie
14. TL
15. Lillyman/Sam Lousi
16. Ikahihifo
17. Matagi
Imo the time has come to at least give Siejka a shot. Will he change anything? I dunno...but I feel like we need an injection of peptid--I mean energy. Siejka could be that angry little Aussie battler we need in the side to rark the boys up. Godinet has been quiet/average in his last couple of games. TL to get a shot at hooker.
10 rounds in now, 2 games won. If we aren't gonna try out some new players in key positions, when will we? When the season is already done and dusted? I'd rather give some fresh players a shot while they can still potentially drag this shambles of a side back into contention.

Before the Panthers had beaten the Storm I thought that, even if Vatuvei had a below-average game, we could still pull of win. If, however, Vatuvei has a shit game (something we all know he's capable of) the team might lose for it. After their win against Melbourne I'm not too sure if we would win without Vatuvei at his best. So at this stage I think I actually would like Vatuvei at wing over Laumape...I think that your hatred of Vatuvei is making your posts laughable. That wasn't meant as an insult or the prelude to a great debate on Vatuvei or anything, just it's staggering that you wouldn't want him in the team based on performances.
Laumape, who you have replaced him with, is a natural centre, plus he played poorly vs Melbourne and was average in a team beaten by the team running last on Saturday.
Elliot simply said it was a selection choice. I believe he wanted Carlos to get Manu the ball in space. Or perhaps he felt Benry needed to be by Tupou and was unwilling to put Konny next to Manu?[DOUBLEPOST=1368427072][/DOUBLEPOST]Can't catch though.
Anyone know why Hurrell was dropped last weekend?
A lot of posters have in the past defended Mannering's style the excuse that Kiwi players may not take to kindly to that type of captaining. I say, that is exactly what we need. I want the players scared to make a mistake or let the team down.Given a couple of games in FG, a chance to get comfortable around the boys enough to speak up, I reckon that could be exactly the quality he could bring, and moreover exactly the quality this side needs.
We said it last year, and we're saying it again, where is the player that is given everyone a rocket when things start going pear shaped? Where is the player that is rarking everyone up? I think this is what this team needs more than anything right now.
Im inclined to agree and ive been an ardent supporter, time for a new captain. will it help, i dont know but that hand in the ruck from mannering last week was inexcusable. late in the tackle count, you could see us beginning to choke, and he contributed to it by practically handing the opposition 2 full sets in a row with good field position. he's showing the pressure, i wouldnt mind seeing friend given the reins.Elliot simply said it was a selection choice. This forward pack's worth a crack.[DOUBLEPOST=1368423507][/DOUBLEPOST]
Maybe Sjejka can put the bombs up. Shaun Johnson is just giving the opposing fullbacks catching practice at the moment. Are his bombs too long or our chase too slow?
then he should be kicking to the corners or to the in goal as close as possible.I think it's more a case of having to kick them from too far out due to the fact we struggle to get good field position- therefore if he wants them to come down close to the line he has to kick them long as opposed to high and the chasers can't get there in time
He has appeared to be one of the first and worst panickers in the team, to me.Im inclined to agree and ive been an ardent supporter, time for a new captain. will it help, i dont know but that hand in the ruck from mannering last week was inexcusable. late in the tackle count, you could see us beginning to choke, and he contributed to it by practically handing the opposition 2 full sets in a row with good field position. he's showing the pressure, i wouldnt mind seeing friend given the reins.
really? i cant say i noticed that. in fact he is the one covering the misreads of others normally. i just think hes trying too hard nowHe has appeared to be one of the first and worst panickers in the team, to me.
I'm talking the recent games, not overall. He just looks freaked whenever the camera is on him in the last 20. Its like he knows what's coming. Perhaps I have over-read it, but its what I have been seeing.really? i cant say i noticed that. in fact he is the one covering the misreads of others normally. i just think hes trying too hard now
