Warriors Orange Peeler
A couple injury clouds and suspension possibilities throws up a few selection problems for Cappy and Co.

Nathan Friend is ok besides a few bumps and bruises according to his social media posts. Not sure about David Fusitua? He played 70 minutes. I'll see what I can dig up on him.

Suaia Matagi and Ngani Laumape have dates with the judiciary. Suaia may get to play with an early plea but its looking grim for Ngani after his spear tackle on Josh McGuire.

With Glen Fisiiahi, Kevin Locke and Ben Matulino out with injury we will have to go with looking in the Reserve Grade to fill the gaps if Fusitua, Laumape and Matagi are out.

All going well and we dont have any injuries or suspensions I would roll with the exact same team as we played against the Broncos.

1 Sam Tomkins
2 David Fusitua
3 Konrad Hurrell
4 Ngani Laumape
5 Manu Vatuvei
6 Chad Townsend
7 Shaun Johnson
8 Jacob Lillyman
9 Nathan Friend
10 Sam Rapira
11 Jayson Bukuya
12 Simon Mannering (c)
13 Sebastine Ikahihifo

14 Feleti Mateo
15 Suaia Matagi
16 Charlie Gubb
17 Ben Henry

Should David Fusitua be injured Id go with Dominique Peyroux. Has experience playing on the wing with the Titans.

With Ngani Laumape likely to get some time off I hate to say it but I would go with Dane Nielsen. With the Panthers in good form you have to go with experience. Dane is the best centre we have in that regard and he is more than familiar with playing inside Manu Vatuvei. Would be his last roll of the dice IMO and a chance at redemption.

I think Matagi's clean record and an early plea will see him play on Sunday. With Charlie Gubb already playing and Nathaniel Peteru and Sam Lisone injured I would select Upu Poching if Matagi does get suspended. I wouldnt be surprised to see Agnatius Paasi debut though.

So my final team, with replacements named second, would be:

1 Sam Tomkins
2 David Fusitua / Dominique Peyroux
3 Konrad Hurrell
4 Ngani Laumape / Dane Nielsen
5 Manu Vatuvei
6 Chad Townsend
7 Shaun Johnson
8 Jacob Lillyman
9 Nathan Friend
10 Sam Rapira
11 Jayson Bukuya
12 Simon Mannering (c)
13 Sebastine Ikahihifo

14 Feleti Mateo
15 Suaia Matagi / Upu Poching / Agnatius Paasi
16 Charlie Gubb
17 Ben Henry

I wouldnt be tempted to move Ben Henry from his utility role to starting centre. He would most likely do a sterling job but we simply dont have anyone who can sub Sebastine Ikahihifo, can spell Nathan Friend if he needs it and play 70 minutes plus if needed. You could tweak the list by swapping Peyroux and Benry but Id only be doing that to shut Nielsen out of the squad. More an emotional reaction than anything.

Just my thoughts. For all we know Cappy might replace Fusitua with Tuimoala Lolohea?

Even though this is a home game we will be up against it with the Panthers. This wont be easy and we wont get away with playing the way we did against the Broncos...

1 Sam Tomkins
2 David Fusitua (/ Dominique Peyroux)
3 Konrad Hurrell
4 Ben Henry
5 Manu Vatuvei

9 Nathan Friend
10 Sam Rapira
11 Jayson Bukuya
12 Simon Mannering (c)
13 Sebastine Ikahihifo

14 Havili
15 Suaia Matagi (/one of the reserve graders who deserves the opportunity)
16 Charlie Gubb
17 Feleti Mateo

Laumape is likely to be out for 4 weeks, if watmough's punishment is to go by. so it wont be a fill in for a week, it will have to be someone who can play there for a while. Henry has showed that is more than capable of filling that role, so that goes to him. Dont want Nielson in the squad for the next month.

Never liked Friend playing 80mins...but McFadden cant use Havili the way he has...get him after 30mins and get him to play with 20-25 to go when Friend come back in

Mateo subs ikahihifo. Mannering and Bukuya to play 80mins

1. Tomkins

5, Manu

14. Gubb
15 Peyroux
16. Mateo
17 Paasi / Poching / Vete

I don't think we lose much at all with Suia out if that happens , in fact I think he has been very close to losing his Jersey to someone else ( having said that he was improving again ).

I've gone for Kata on the wing on the basis that we took the risk with David Fusitua and Kata was on the verge till he got injured......I thought his Kick returns V the Wyong Roos were better than Ngani's and Fusitua's.

I like the way Poching is running at the moment.....I like Paasi's defensive work and he's got a bit of toe for a big man.

Vete is more about hoping he re finds that early promise he showed this year / last season.

I would love to make room for Havili , I thought is was a smart decision to play him in the Vulcans.....he looked great.....seems to have been good for his confidence.

Lolohea I don't want brought in till the teams strong.....he's too important to throw in a team with so many reshuffles , Loloheas future in Fg is all but assured so I'm in no rush to throw him in.

It would be very useful to give Kata a shot at Fusitua / Laumapes / tier of player before ALlwood gets here.

I think Neilson deserves another shot, he hasn't had a good game in a warriors jersey but he did get selected for qld so he does have something in his game. If all he does is save tries and not score any, then that's still adding to the team. I would say this would be his last shot before being shown the door though

Lolohea for Fusitua (if injured)
Henry to Centre (if Ngani suspended)
RFM to debut at second row (if Henry moves to centre)

I’d have Benry in the centres, think he is a good centre and he is one of those who needs to redeem himself for his showing in penrith last year, Matagi should be able to play, can’t remember anyone being suspended for running into the legs, Laumape is no chance. Until like rd 18 probably, so need more than a stop gap centre to replace him.

I’ll understand if Nielsen is selected, but he was playing so badly in his last 3 or so games that it was almost sad, and by the sounds of it hasn’t been doing a lot in the NSW cup either, trying not to be a hater, but putting him out there is a risk, if he hasn’t recovered some confidence and form yet, whereas benry will do the job for you.

Havili to come on to the bench, though Ikahihifo can’t play big minutes, with four props and Mannering, Bukuya and Mateo capable of 60+ minutes, they should be able to shuffle it around so Havili isn’t on the field at the same time as Friend. More minutes to Gubb and Rapira could play lock for a few sets, something like that.

Peyroux might be the slowest winger in the NRL if Fusitua is out, but he’s tall if they try to bomb him and he is a hard worker, will carry the ball for Tomkins on kick returns and he might shoot off the wing and put a decent shot on someone as well. Carlos also makes a decent bomb target and can finish a try, how much tackling do wingers need to do anyway?

Assuming Fusitua + Laumape will be gone:

1 Tomkins
2 Nielsen / Peyroux OR Lolohea
3 Hurrell
4 Henry
5 Vatuvei
6 Chownsend
7 Johnson
8 Matagi
9 Friend
10 Lillyman
11 Bukuya
12 Mannering
13 Ikahihifo

14 Havili
15 Rapira
16 Gubb
17 Mateo

Gubb didn't do much, but he played fuck all minutes (13) so didn't get much of a chance. He did make a joint tackle with Rapira which saved a potentially crucial try, so he keeps the spot as a reward.

Havili returns, particularly because Friend went down vs the Broncos and I am now nervous of an injury leaving us with Henry playing most of a game at hooker. He went well for the Kiwis. But we do not have the Kiwis pack.

Henry to the centre spot. Lacks a bit in attack but he's a defensive rock, and a smart player.

Wing becomes a huge issue with Fish gone, so we have to choose between a slow and slightly gumby player who is really more suited to NSW Cup second row, or a slow and very gumby player who is really more suited to another club's roster... or debuting someone.

Whoever is on the wing is up against Mansour. Whoever is the best at taking bombs out of who's available because it will be raining them on Sunday

Anyone else think that the look on Friend's face when he came back out of the tunnel said he was anything but OK? Man, the look in his eyes was exactly what massive head knocks feel like, and you're not OK for a fair while afterwards.

I hope this isn't the game that propels Nielsen back into the squad for good
He'll only be back in for good if his form merits it, therefore he'd be outplaying Laumape, and it'd be a good thing, yes?

I'd prefer a specialist to go wing, it would be a good time to blood Hikutai or Kata but there can't be too many spots left for debutants this season as we have used quite a few players so far, so care might have to be taken in roster use, so I have Dane as back up to David and I'm near positive that Ngani is gone for at least 2 weeks, Benry against Whare sounds good to me..
Bring in Lolohea as the utility, he is more vital to the team now, we can't afford to lose anymore backs now, so we need to blood him in case of emergency IMO..

Tomkins
Fusitua/Neilsen
Hurrell
Henry
Manu
Townsend
Johnson
Rapira
Friend
Lillyman
Bukuya
Mannering
Ikahihifo

Lolohea
Mateo
Matagi
Gubb

This is my view also. I have'nt watched the NSW cup reply yet but from the second half I did see at the ground I vote "NO" to Neilsen who looks just as bad in reserve grade. Havili had a couple of dodgy moments also but I have been impressed with him in FG so far (and Kiwis) so I welcome his inclusion if he makes it.

I also liked the idea of Kata or Lolohea to the wing to get the future talent on to the park. However, on reflection I can't go past Peyroux for his experience and wholehearted efforts.

if were talking sheer desperation would anyone consider putting Neilson on the bench with thoughts of running him at 13 only. His tackling has never really been suspect and in the middle he might find plenty of opportunity to show off his tradesman like nature.

Anyway would you use him?

I would rather debut Raymond Faitala Marriner (sp?) than try this idea. I can see somewhat of an argument for bringing Neilsen back at centre, but he was pretty woeful on Saturday.

Are you Ivan Cleary? Our forward pack is small enough as it is
