Potential Round 2 vs Canberra Raiders team list discussion.

Will Sam Tomkins be fit? Where will he play?

Have Albert Vete and Sam Lisone done enough to get selected again?

My team:

1. SAM TOMKINS
2. TUIMOALA LOLOHEA
3. KONRAD HURRELL
4. SOLOMONE KATA
5. MANU VATUVEI
6. CHAD TOWNSEND
7. SHAUN JOHNSON
8. JACOB LILLYMAN
9. THOMAS LEULUAI
10. BEN MATULINO
11. BODENE THOMPSON
12. RYAN HOFFMAN
13. SIMON MANNERING

14. NATHAN FRIEND
15. SAM LISONE
16. SUAIA MATAGI
17. ALBERT VETE

If Sam Tomkins is fit I believe he'll slot straight back in. No point having Tui play fullback if it means we weaken the rest ofthe outside backs (by playing Benry at centre).

Dont have room for Ben Henry. Rather have another prop instead of a utility. Even a Sebastine Ikahihifo/Sione Lousi utility type would be better IMO...

With Tomkin's skinny frame and suspect defence, any opposing team would have a field day with him @ 6.They would steam roll him until he was beaten to a pulp...

also i would rather have Peyroux as well. Ive never seen him play poorly in the first grade games and he brings that stability that young guns often lack.

I can't think of too many times where Tomkins gets "steamrolled". The problem is that when he's called to defend more often than not it's right on our line where all the bigger guys have to do is bump and fall. He's not strong enough to hold a big player up one on one, but that goes for most halves and fullbacks, which is why teams try so hard to isolate them to begin with.

Slightly OT, but does the team return to NZ or stay in Austrlia for the week?

I'm glad we get the Newcastle & Canberra games out of the way, from what I have read it's a pain crossing the Tasman then getting on a bus for 2 1/2-3 hours to travel out of Sydney

This is exactly my team. If Tomkins is out, I would select Peyroux to play centre.

I'd like to try Tomkins and Chad in the halves and Johnson at full back. Behind the best pack in the world Johnson is golden boot material, but in the Warriors he's struggling with the intricacies of guiding the team...

Tomkins is a more composed thinker who struggles to achieve the running game that Lolohiea did so well yesterday, and Johnson is the best running back in the NRL. Johnson with space running from the back is a scary prospect for the Kangroos, let alone the average NRL team, and with less responsibility his goal kicking might come right as well.

So I'd have Chad as the first receiver, and Tomkins playing both sides, with Shaun Johnson lurking out the back looking for space, and Lolohiea out the right wing as an extra threat down that side...

Give Tomkins the ball with the option of hitting Thompson, Shaun Johnson or Hurrel, or the long ball to Lolohiea...

Then out the other side Tomkins has Hoffman, Shaun Johnson, Kata, or Manu...

How is that not awesome?

It still leaves us with Chads inconsistent kicking game, but there's no one better atm. And he did get us a 40/20 before hoofing it out on the fool...

Never going to happen, as people are stuck on Johnson as a 7 FML, but that's what I would like to see tried out at least once...
