While I can understand everyone wanting Aitken back to the centres - he's been exceptionally good in the second row for us. He really holds that edge together, more so than any of other other very green second rowers would've done, likely to the point where he's won us some games through his defence.

If we move him back to the centres I've got a feeling we'll have everyone on here moaning about the gaps people are running through there instead.

The guy dishing out the gradings for the judiciary must have been asleep for the last 12 months and not read the memo that Lodge now plays for the Warriors. Probably thinks he is still at the Bronco's. Well I cannot see any other reason why a Warriors player would not be banned for what Lodge did?
Cause it was a forearm, JWH does it all the time and doesn't even get penalised.

Fuck me, Tohu Harris round 12? I hate to say it but he's been a bit of a disaster for us, no fault of his. Probably our highest paid player and how many games are we getting from him?

No one is picking Kosi?
He had a bad game against Storm.
But did ok in the games prior.
I didn’t see much in Vailea versus Raiders.
Hit with your thoughts.
I'm bias.

I'd be keen to see Kosi continue to develop as you say at least let the poor bugger stay on one side, more importantly paired with the same centre.

If Berry played the Storm it would have been just as ugly, same issue out of position.

Raiders carved Berry up.

I'm just a dribbler but he's got all the qualities of a top tier Lock except the ball playing. Tough as, strong carry, can get some great late offloads away, decent at wrestling & has fantastic line speed. If he had the soft hands of Tohu Harris & a bit more vision then he'd have the total package.
He does distribute. He is a back up hooker so can definitely distribute.

A lot of our left to right or right to left sweeping plays will include a sweet pass by him. He is a very good ball player? At least that is what I have seen.

I would tempted to leave Jazz at Lock. Jazz is a better Lock than Sironen is a second rower.

Berry is a prospect, but there's no doubting he looks down on confidence/fitness and needs time in the reserves. Agree that Murchie replacing him in the centres mightn't be a bad idea if he stops making my heart skip a beat when he juggles the ball 😅

No way I'd bring Kodi back in. Siro should be there as he does give us cover in the backline if we desparately need it.
Berry needs to fill out to become effective.

Pompey is slower but can hit and stick better due to his size.

I would still have Berry in the potentially great category but still needed to bulk up in reserves unfortunately.

  1. Walsh
  2. Watene-Zelezniak
  3. Vailea
  4. Pompey (marks Talakai)
  5. Kosi
  6. Asi
  7. Johnson
  8. Fonua-Blake
  9. Egan
  10. Lodge
  11. Aitken
  12. Murchie
  13. Tevaga
  14. Sironen
  15. Afoa
  16. Murdoch-Masila
  17. Katoa
Pretty much what I settled on too I think.

Jazz always has to start for me. He's prone to trying a little too hard when he comes off the bench, better to get him starting and settle into it.

Murchie is a little similar - although I thought he handled the Raiders game well - unlike a few here I don't mind Siro starting/behing in the 17, he's got good utility and can fill in the forwards and the backs.

Think it's more likely we'll see Kodi starting at 6 and Asi into the 14 though - much as it pains me to say.

Can't see Kodi getting a game this week after Asi's performance. He has earned another week.

And as a side comment, has anyone else noticed how Egan seems to be growing another leg since taking a few mins as captain role. He seems to have far more confidence in himself and is playing well.

It's not that he can't distribute. He can adequately catch & pass it's more so his pass selection & timing of the pass that separates him from the very best in his position. The likes of Tohu Harris, Yeo & Radley have all the physicality of Jazz but could seamlessly slot into Standoff mid game in the event of an injury too. I wouldn't have the same confidence in him. Definitely a player you want in the 17 every week all the same

I think a rather rude truth that no one wants to say out loud but are wondering privately, is that if his Dad wasn't famous would be he in our top 30 for the past 2 years.

I didn't actually say that by the way. Somebody else did.

Whats he actually done to deserve a FG spot? Never heard of him coming up through the ranks

I don't know who should play centre next week. Murchie was very immobile when played there once for us against Storm or some other team.
Would feel better about Siro there maybe if we don't trust Berry to handle the elite Shark Centres. Siro can pass a bit too. Maybe he should be a centre as his best position?

Sironen - 6 foot 1 95 kgs - sounds like a solid hard centre with that profile

(If arthars is out, Berry sat down, and Dallin Watene-Zelezniak not back yet)

1 Walsh
2 Ratuva / Berry
3 Sironen
4 Vailea
5 Pompey
6 Asi
7 Shaun Johnson
8 Addin Fonua-Blake
9 Egan
10 Lodge (excellent not suspended)
11 Aitken
12 Ben Murdoch-Masila
13 Jazz

14 Kodi - he will definitely be 14 this week as they like his form
15 Pene
16 Afoa
17 Murchie

Unlucky Katoa
I would give Berry and Vailea another go. We can’t keep chopping and changing them, ye they Didn’t look to flash on the weekend but the team as a whole was pretty shit.

Interesting idea.

I never heard of his old man but then I don't follow Union at all.

I personally doubt that his Dad's rep would sway anyone in League too much, there are a bunch of kids running round with pro sports parents and most don't get anywhere in league.
