Warriors

We have been decimated by injury and suspension which is affecting our form and combinations. Our next block of 4 games:

9 - Sharks
10 - Bunnies
11 - Dragons
12 - Knights

Realistically we should be aiming to win 3/4 with only the Sharks in any form (but even they faltered against the Broncos).

Dallin Watene-Zelezniak and Pene help against Cronulla but more importantly, potentially we have Curran, Harris, Chanel Harris-Tavita, Montoya, Dallin Watene-Zelezniak and Pene all back for the winning run against the Bunnies, Dragons and Knights. That’s 6 extra quality and experienced players in addition to the Raiders team.

I just didnt like what i saw from Vailea and Berry. They present a risk in either defence or errors.
But.................I dont think we have anybody left.
I would give Kosi a wing spot on his preferred side.

Walsh
Kosi
Pompey
Aitken or ????
???

Asi
Johnson

Fill the ??? please.

Aitken can clearly pass the ball - his pass to Pompey for the try was perfect …

He also knows how to run into holes… years of experience at the center spot … make logical sense to put him back there given our injury problems out wide

Otherwise Shaun Johnson has to babysit that entire backline of kids

I've no qualms with how Aitken is playing in the backrow, quite the opposite, but moving him back to Centre makes complete sense. Our outside backs, with the exception of Montoya & Pompey, struggle to make significant metres, & neither are elite. Aitken can do better yardage carrying than any other option & is not too bad sniping from dummy half either. Playing him at Centre also means we have a Second Rower who isn't giving +10kg away to their opposite & may help restrict the PCMs we give up week after week

Berry to drop out, needs game time in reserves imo - the siro/lock question is an interesting one, i agree with fonzie that he is not being used correctly - what if he was put in at lock and given ball playing instructions? much like yeo is used in one mode at the panthers, as first receiver and distributor (obviously siro couldn't/shouldn't revert to the 'bend the line and off load' mode though, he's just not that kind of body) - and if it's a straight choice between siro or jazz i'd go jazz every day.

pompey proving to be a great defender - knows what he is doing there at centre - someone needs to sit on top of the talakai (and naden for that matter) all day

Pompey/Vailea will have their hands full with Ramien. Good luck to whoever gets tasked with marking Talakai. Personally I'd push for Aitken

obs - vailea and pompey are written in the wrong way there... also this one is an important game hey? We should be looking to beat the Sharks twice (next meeting in the 14th round) - if we can do that we will push in the post season, if not could well be condemned to languishing at 11th or 12th

Wighton was charged with a grade two offence for the 19th minute incident while Warriors prop Matt Lodge (dangerous contact) can escape with a $1000 fine following contact with Corey Harawira-Naera.

Lodge free to play if he takes the fine, which he bloody well should do 🤣

Berry is a prospect, but there's no doubting he looks down on confidence/fitness and needs time in the reserves. Agree that Murchie replacing him in the centres mightn't be a bad idea if he stops making my heart skip a beat when he juggles the ball 😅

No way I'd bring Kodi back in. Siro should be there as he does give us cover in the backline if we desparately need it.
