Pick Your Team 2022 Rnd 7 - Storm vs Warriors

Promotions?
Demotions?
Any new injury concerns?
Any returning players?
Any tweaks to the bench?

If we can lose to the storm by 13 or less, I will take that as a win. We need a good points differential this year. Historically by round 7, our points differential would be generally abysmal.

Making 8th spot should be the goal as we look to build for future years.

There has to be question over the centres - even if it is answered by, 'sure, they're doing okay, give them another shot'

I personally prefer Vailea over both Pompey and Berry. Pompey is just a bit ponderous, seems to think he has more time than he actually earns in some plays - harsh, I know, given he marked up and beat Manu yesterday - happy to have Arthars holding done one side though

Be great to have Otukolo in as a straight swap for Nikorima

Jazz's return is welcome

Lodge - I just don't know, he's been hobbling - back in if really fully fit

When is Tohu Harris expected again?

Lodge should be fine. It's only a mild back sprain according to the Warriors he could have played through it yesterday.

They probably should Tailor his weights to power lifting, his back at his weight will get super strong.

He is probably a bit too heavy for his core to handle.

After yesterday's sterling if at times hit and miss efforts, we have now put together a quarter of a season of 'try hard' games.

I said in the lead up to the Chooks that the Warriors would struggle out of their own end.

No Brainer really, you take out Jazz, Lodge, and Murchie and Ben Murdoch-Masila and you got big problems.

I did not think it possible we push the Roosters.

This week, I think the opposite.

You find a place for Murchie, Jazz gets rid of Kodi, Lodge and Addin Fonua-Blake plus Pene and Bunty gives us the much needed size.

I think we can definitely beat the Storm if we don't get Reffed out of it.

Teams are kicking to Kosi's wing on the ground to turn him like they have done since Manu V.

But Kosi doesn't play like a prop wing, he defends like a specialist....he attacks the ball....he attacks his opposites....and he reads the play.

I think we have got a really good chance here.

I am banking on our team showing up again, they have showed up every game.

This time we have some engine power to fight back.

Unfortunately the Anzac games are the worst of Australian officiating of the year. Expect machine guns on cliff tops...

Good to know we have a good option in arthars backing up our outside backs, but he's not here next year so time to keep developing the new guys, and in a game where there is no expectation is a good chance for Berry to develop further.

I just don't see the point of continuing to play a loan player if we have one of our own fit - would rather see Berry out there developing.

Arthars or Berry is a tricky one, Jesse runs good lines and hits gaps off Shaun Johnson, Rocco is further behind in his development. So I'd play to win at this stage, keep Berry at the Dolphins for further education until he gets an injury opportunity for mine.

Sironen impressed me yesterday too, big motor, did a lot of work off the ball and Mannering-like cleanup tackles, more valuable than he's given credit for and the type of player Brownie likes, I reckon he'll find a place for him over Katoa or Murch atm.

By all reports the club have reached out to broncos for permission to have 2023 contract discussions with Arthars
We want him to stick around so developing him this year ahead of berry is fine
According to other posts I read the tenor of the overture was
“ dear broncos
We want to be a good partner in this player loan. Naturally you are expecting Arthars to return next year. Please be aware he has interested us and we would be keen to make an offer but would not want to compete with you if you wish to retain him.
At your earliest convenience please let us know your ongoing contract intent with him.

Best regards

Craig Hodges “
