same team except bring in katoa for one of aitken/sironen: one small backrow is enough.
Aitken??? He has been a solid player for us on the left. Coaching staff don't get enough credit for sticking him there, even when our centre stocks were low. He goes about his business and does the job. Doesn't get enough plaudits he deserves.

Katoa isn't being missed based on his recent performances. If we are picking on merit, he is on the fringes of top 17 selection, and certainly not at the expense of someone like Aitken.

I said one of aitken or sironen. On form Aitken deserves to be there so I would prefer it if sironen gets the boot. I just don't think we have room for two small backrowers.

Roosters seem vulnerable relative to the other top four sides. They are still lacking cohesion so maybe now is actually a good time to face them. I think we need to follow Broncos playbook of unsettling them through the middle and bullying young walker into make bad decisions. This game is still a long shot in my view but better than the no shot against the storm the week after. I still expect us to be 3-4 after the next two weeks: just hopefully our P/D doesn't blow out as it usually does against the top teams.

Kosi and Dallin Watene-Zelezniak are a straight swap for me when Dallin Watene-Zelezniak is ready. Dallin Watene-Zelezniak does some stupid stuff on occasion but he is far and away the fastest winger we've got.
Idk man, I know Dallin Watene-Zelezniak will slot back in due to his experience. But the more inexperienced player in Kosi has been making some real high IQ plays over the last couple games with covering tackles and defensive reads. Been a breath of fresh air

Only potential change for this week I would make is Berry for Pompey. But would be happy with an unchanged line up

Once A Warrior

Once A Warrior

1 R Walsh
2 M Montoya
3 A Pompey
4 J Arthars
5 E Kosi
6 C H Tavita
7 S Johnson
8 A F Blake
9 W Egan
10 M Lodge
11 E Aitkin
12 B Sironen
13 J Curren

14 K Nikorima
15 B Afoa
16 A Pene
17 J Murchie

18 T Otukolo

Same 17 but if Montoya is out I would be very tempted to hand Ratuva a debut. The only problem though is Pompey on the inside, so I would give Berry that spot on the wing and not in the Midfield probably more safe defensively.

I'm happy for katoa to get some reserve grade. I thought sironen and murchie were fine on the right edge.

Obviously if there is no Chanel Harris-Tavita Nikorima slots in and would be exciting to see a stint of Otukolo around some tired defenders.

Great effort to win again in the weekend! Winning ugly will just build that confidence as there is still a lot to work on (and that's a great thing), without feeling like the competition is getting away from the team.

I would rather Katoa an Murchie sharing a spot. Sironen didnt do anything bad but as soon as our 2 starting props went off we were going nowhere. We need to find meters from somewhere. Murch was well behind the ball literally but made us some good yards when we were desperate for them.

Never change a winning side.

This is a club culture thing too ain't it?
You don't drop the boys who got you a rare 3 win sequence if you want a winning culture in your organization.

The only changes should be veterans who are out through injury becoming available....and even then...only if those Vets have been maintaining a high standard in rehab in terms of their attitude and desire to play.

That type of off feild professional is what you get with Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, Harris, and Tevanga. They all have reputations of training very hard, and being out and out tough men that play through pain. The Warriors used to be short of these guys, now they got 3 on standbye, things look good.

Montoya Is a tough guy, he's a workaholic lunatic, but he will get banned, so hopefully Dallin Watene-Zelezniak is fit and can swap sides to allow Ed Kosi two settled games in the same spot...to help Kosi with the defence.

Arthur's and Pompey are both tough guys....really this is the first time in the clubs history that a coach has played tough defenders in every edge position.....and look at the results....throw in Chanel Harris-Tavita and Shaun Johnson and you have the best Warriors defensive backline ever.

Walsh is the weak point, but he has improved immensely in the 1:1's and who knows where is ceiling is.

I'm not a fan of moving away from our tradesmen defensive backline.

It is a deliberate ploy, a outsiders strategy, to change two decades of the Warriors inability to become a top four team, one that can play in 12 point games....because every single Warriors team ever...leaks on its edge.
This is why the Warriors have been trapped in this chase mode, you score we score, we are still stuck in it, our packs starting too slow.

We are approaching a new Era. On the cusp of a different style of league. Tacklebot backs and tacklebot forwards.

We just need Harris and Tevanga and these slow starts will begin to be solved, the middle ground will firm, making those backs lives a lot easier.

Those three small Aussie backrowers have a simple job, keep up with the pace of the game when the Refs got a hard on.

Not a role I would cast Katoa into in a hurry.

Plus Arthur's is hitting that Shaun Johnson channel at the line with speed, we don't need someone bigger and slower that can't pass...when really everyone in the world knows that move.

All these machinations...excuse the rant...are undone if you go back to giving attacking players second and third and tenth chances...hell we been down that road under every coach.
