Pick Your Team Pick Your Team 2022 Rnd 4 - Warriors vs Broncos

Just been watching the warriors v dragons replay. i know this might not be a popular opinion but i think Nikorima and Shaun Johnson might actually be the right halves pairing moving forward. They have a connection that I think started in England, if you look at the behind the scenes of alot of the plays they are setting things up together, sometimes kodi would jump in to dummy half because he knows what shaun is trying to do, i know thats counter intuitive to what weve seen I just think if we're comparing the last 3 combos weve had that Shaun Johnson and Kodi look to have the most points in them and the most expansive offence of the lot. Its actually amazing to watch Shaun Johnson when he demands the ball, the service is better and they give him the ball in the right place. I would just throw it out there that there is something there with him and kodi that if you add the walsh element could actually turn our offence around. I believe it would need the next 2 games between the broncs and cowboys to see if it works.

The other option is you have Chanel Harris-Tavita at 6 and kodi at 14 who comes on as hooker, i believe he adds value at that position and can help Shaun Johnson setup alot of plays especially around the ruck. We just need all men healthy to see the value of it. Unfortunately injury has deprived us of seeing these combos in action.
Can't buy into that when he's not part of future plans. Johnson needs time with Chanel Harris-Tavita and we have Metcalf on the way, there is no room for kodi in this team what so ever!

Kodi Nikorima is a stop gap at best, and Jazz and otukolo could offer the same as nikorima out of Dummy half if not better.

Brisbane are a pretty fragile bunch, once things start going bad for them they get into ruts, so good result for us yesterday, they'll be getting the media pressure this week, and they haven't responded well to it in recent years.

This is the week to Move Aitken into Berry's spot - doesn't have to be permanent, just feed Rocco some supplements for a fortnight and when there's an injury he can come back.

Sironen or Murchie can take Aitkens spot with the other one on the bench. Ben Murdoch-Masila is a bench only player IMO.

Johnson if fit, for Nikorima and if Pene is injured, rotate Lodge to the bench where he can play longer minutes, then can play Otukolo for 25 minutes as Jazz would be the other bench middle, Bunty can start.
Don't kid yourself, the Cowboys were a total discipline defensive unit that the Warriors are not even a shadow of!

We can beat them yes but last week's win was a joke. I would of been surprised if they sang the victory song because it felt like a loss. One of the worst winning games they have ever played.

Broncos will defo be expecting an easier game than yesterday's bashing.
The Cows play rough and tough footy and there may be a few forwards who don't make it through the week.

But we have to remember they beat us even when they are totally shithouse, so it will be a hard game.

We have to start fast. Or start locked into the grind, if we give them the 12 point start we are fkd, they will be confident.

We have to sort those edges out too.

Shaun Johnson would have been invaluable, he has their number.

If the teams been training well all year.. then stick with the same starters I suppose but add in Shaun or Ash if fit..
There's something going wrong on game day, me thinks our halves are targeted and pressured into mistakes, timing of passes, kicking options and so on, last year exposed Kodi's and Chanel Harris-Tavita deficiencies and coaches are exploiting them.
When that happens the whole team turns to shit.
I just hope Kevvy doesn't follow the trend.. else we'll be in trouble again.
But I guess there's no other choice but to keep picking them.

The Warriors played completely crap but they still WON so that must carry some weight. It would have been much worse if they played really well and WON by 4 points or even worse if they played really well and LOSS!

Just hoping for Johnson back (and Vailea) - I'm currently some sort of masochist for having just now gone back and watched the first 15 min of the Dragons game when they were on the park -- we looked good! There are some stupid simple errors and some incomprehensible officiating (the very first penalty for the year blown against Aitken for what?, not offside, not high, not not clearing the ruck... no explanation... what was that? and then the 'inconclusive' dragon's captain's challenge... eh?) which compounded into two tries against us... but that was all really contingent and bad luck (if systemic bias is bad luck)

Clear common denominator from first 3 games is a nervous start that for what ever reasons lead to cheap points against us - can that be fixed? I believe it can be with Johnson back, tempering attitudes and (probably more importantly) projecting confidence (which tends to translate into fairer refereeing of the confident side)

Especially important against a confidence driven team like the Broncos, doubly important given the opportunity of playing them away from Suncorp (how many calls went their way even while getting smashed there on the weekend? A lot)

Shaun Johnson returning is a huge boost. It will instantly lift the team and immediately add that spark and solidarity with intent and direction.

Just need our outside backs to be ready and prepared to hold the ball at all costs!
Is he in line to play this week?

Looks like we must wait until 6pm tomorrow night and the team list.

That team list has been an exciting event in Browns tenure. Under SK a player could be egregious for 20 games in a row and not be dropped.

If our first choice spine plays we are in with a show. I want to see them play together. And in the words of Cameron George during his infamous pre-season speech in 2019 where told a roster comprised of Lawton, Papali'i and Adam Blair they could win the comp if they put in 100% effort every time they played and that their previous losing seasons were borne from a lack of effort..."Now is that to much to ask" he finished with.
Is too much to ask to have our spine at full strength soon?

First time commenter, long time lurker! Thought Montoya really redeemed himself defensively last week, would love to see Ratuva/Kosi come in this week on the other side.

With Adam Cook, is there any timeframe we have to wait to be able to play him since he's not in 1st grade? Would much rather see him over Kodi if the half injuries drag on, he doesn't look like he gives a flying F when he's out there

Agree there could be a lot of flaws in ratuvas game but he could also be a lot to handle once he gets going. Worth the punt on a winger I would say.
