Because they're a legit chance of making playoffs

So the teams in the 8 should be able to pick up players from teams in the bottom 8, because they are playing finals? That's the rich stealing from the poor.

The system is broken. Pangai Junior should not have been allowed to join the Panthers last season. It sets a messed up system, where a player can ask for a release from a poor side to join a top side for a month of regular season football, to get a shot at a trophy. It gives teams unfair advantages, and screws over the poorer teams at the same time.

If the NRL wants to stop players and managers breaking contracts and giving unfair advantages to the top clubs, they should cut off mid season transfers 2 months earlier. The Storm can go and pick up a reserve grade fullback. Or they should have planned their roster better and have a fill in fullback (which they do, in Meaney).

The Australian media are shocking. The Walsh let him go now vs make him play out his contract (which we have already allowed him to break FFS), they will beat up the Warriors either way. I would prefer Walsh play reserve grade for the rest of the year than give him to a club like the Storm for nothing in return.

My comment was in relation to why there's no media push for Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad to be released early. The Raiders would be shooting themselves in the foot if they released Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad now & injuries/suspension struck. I'm unaware that there's even been an approach from the Warriors to get him early either so I think they're very different situations.

I too agree that transfers shouldn't occur after say Round 10 but currently the rules are in place & clubs would be stupid not to manipulate them.

Sorry I was coming from the Warriors perspective.

New fox article today Bellamy has tried to get a short term loan on - Walsh, the fox, Jayden Campbell, dohuie, Laurie etc - basically any good FB/wing from a bottom 8 club but we are the bad guys!! Can’t wait until the next time we have some injuries and the storm loan us Huges, Munster and Paps

We’re not the bad guys, we’re the dumb guys.

Don’t understand why everyone gives the Aussie media so much credit. Their job and opinions is to create drama, sell clicks and papers.

No they have the right because they are the Melbourne Storm and the players will come back superstars after 7 weeks. Fancy them asking for Addo-Carr??? How far up themselves are they? They release virtually no one, do cut price deals and get 80% of their players on the cheap, such a fidget club. Did we get anyone from them when we needed loan players? Even the roosters released players to us. Don’t give them anything…

Dunedin warrior

I’d like to see Vailea get a run for the rest of the season. He was doing some good things before he got injured and Pompey got dominated by Timoko which isn’t the first time this season he’s been manhandled by his opposite this season.

Beyond that I’m easy.

Next 5 games against 4 top 6 sides and the resurgent Dogs. I think giving some fringe guys like Katoa some more game time could be beneficial but the cupboard is bare to be fair.

I think the secret to unlocking Katoas potential .. big hair. I’m thinking Olakoatu styles.
Not only would it add a couple of cm’s to his height taking him to 6.4’ but importantly would look more menacing and creating some hype around the ‘big back-rower’
You heard it here first!

Chanel Harris-Tavita
Montoya
Pompey
Arthurs
Dallin Watene-Zelezniak
Volkman
Johnson
Addin Fonua-Blake
Egan
Harris
Murchie
Katoa
Curran

Lussick
Afoa
Tevaga
Aiken

When I have watched him in reserve grade he has been whole hearted but lacks size against the higher quality opposition. It would be hard to have him in the same side as Jazz, Aitken, Curran
Agree with you there. On the face of it the stats make it look like he's a solid defender but when you actually dissect the games vs the top Q Cup team along with the Test he played vs Samoa he's actually not that accurate with a far few ineffective tackles. Could've been a viable option in a rotation that included both Addin Fonua-Blake & Lodge but without Lodge his 102kg frame is just too small in an already undersized pack
