I think there was enough on show from most players to see the potential in most of this line up. I thought Harris Tevita while not looking great at fullback, offered more than Nikorima who showed his 2021 CBF attitude. I would put Chanel Harris-Tavita into 6, and get Nikorima out of there. Chanel Harris-Tavita also potentially has a future at the club.

Vailea was quiet, but Montoya and Dallin Watene-Zelezniak had far poorer games if you are looking for someone to drop. But, they are our best wingers despite that shit showing.

I really like Curran in the roaming 13 role, hard to see him lose that, but he might when Harris returns. You can see Katoa and Shaun Johnson are going to be dangerous when the gel.

I would stick to it;

Walsh
Dallin Watene-Zelezniak
Vailea
Berry
Montoya
Chanel Harris-Tavita
Shaun Johnson
Addin Fonua-Blake
Egan
Lodge
Aitken
Katoa
Curren

Tevaga
Afoa
Pene
Otukolo (if Egan can't play 80, Sironen if he can)

Dippa

Arthars in the Centres

You would think Nathan Brown has to take a stab and throw Ash Taylor into the team against his former club. He didn’t get the chance in the 2nd trial - Kodi has effectively played 2 games and came up with a shocker when it needed to count. I don’t think the team can afford to be patient with someone who has been below average for so long.

Let’s see how aggressive Nathan and the coaching staff decide to be with their so called “competitive halves “.

I don't usually post in these threads but I'll give it a go seeing as its round 1.

Walsh and Lodge coming in should help.

I can't see the coach ditching the Aitken to second row move after one round but I'd be moving him out these to have an experienced voice alongside Watene-Zelezniak. To try and keep him focused. They weren't a bad pairing last year. A bit weird having to put an experienced player next to an international. But hopefully it stops some of the brain explosions.

Valilea it is a bit tough to drop after one game. But necessary to move Aitken out.

Montoya it might be a case of we need to look at the match ups. At the moment he'd stay due to past performances and effort.

Harris Tevita seemed more comfortable ball playing at fullback than he does in the halves. Did push a lot though. He needs to keep it simple and get his side of the field with some shape. Also favour him for his defence over the other options.

I'd move Curran out there to give him someone to run off him.

I debate Pompey and Otukolo for the 14. Went with Pompey as he can cover the outside backs and if we need mobility in the middle he could play in field or we can move Aitken back.

I'm assuming Arthars is still injured and Taylor is still a few weeks off. The Taylor one is going off Brown's comments in interviews. Otherwise I'd be looking at him.

1 Reece Walsh
2 Dallin Watene-Zelezniak
3 Euan Aitken
4 Rocco Berry
5 Marcelo Montoya
6 Chanel Harris Tevita
7 Shaun Johnson
8 Addin Fonua-Blake (C)
9 Wayde Egan
10 Matt Lodge
11 Josh Curran
12 Elisia Katoa
13 Jazz Tevaga

14 Adam Pompey
15 Ben Murdoch-Masila
16 Aaron Pene
17 Bunty Afoa

Not that your suggestion doesn't have merit, they were literally paired on an edge once in 2021 & that was the hammering inflicted by the Panthers.

Kosi plays on the right so would you assume he's the front runner? Pompey has the strongest carry out of the replacement candidates but Brown hasn't shown an inclination to play him on the Wing despite some good performances there in '20
I haven’t heard anything about Vailea but he was limping on the weekend and it wouldn’t surprise me if we are looking for a right centre as well, if so that could be Pompey. Arthars seemed to be ahead of Pompey in the pecking order..

I’d probably go with Pompey on wing but like you I think Brown will go with Kosi

With Kodi.. the opposing coaches have gotten into his head I think.. they've pretty much shut him down. Hes become a target and its belted his confidence. Chanel Harris-Tavita or Walshy for the 6 jumper..

I have missed alot of posts but I watched the Titans play and they were really good. Strong forward pack and scored some good tries out wide against the Eels. A mighty task for the Warriors this weekend especially with all the errors in their game!

Yeah we're losing by 50 if we played like we did on the weekend. Dragons are not a good team. Could be a blood bath this weekend.

No Dallin Watene-Zelezniak (injury) and no Kodi (hopefully dropped) could help though. Addition by subtraction.

For me, Kosi comes in for Dallin Watene-Zelezniak and if Vailea is also injured then Pompey comes in. No point playing Vailea if he's not 100%.
