Our think our biggest issue all season has been our back row.

A combination of Aitken, Sironen and Jazz are to small. Katoa also while big gets fatigued and doesn’t dominate. Individually they are good defenders but they don’t dominate or control the ruck speed, allowing the opposition to put the most meters on us of any team and expose our edges.

Aitken - 92m per game
Jazz - 75m per game
Sironen - 46m per game
Katoa - 75m per game

A decent second rower should be over 100m highlighting they are physically spend and undersized.

Tohu Harris back fixes a lot of issues (as shown on the weekend) and if he pushes Aitken to centre that solves a lot more issues there as well, where you just need to stop the attack without dominating it. Next year we solve this through recruitment.

Our 11, 12 and 13 have been a major cause of our defensive woes.

Pene with 65m per game and only 93% tackling has also underwhelmed. He seems to light weight for a prop.

In the nhl all the acquisitions are immediate or for the following season
Approaching players in November 2022 for the 2024 season is naff and contributes to how hard it us for cellar dweller teams to recruit and turn their fortunes around

My point only loosely connected to yours

Good team, but will Brown do it? No
Looks pretty solid. Every team is going to shift it wide all day against us now to expose our inexperienced backline if it stays the same so NB has to shore up the outside D with Aitken…. Doesn’t he?
I suspect Tohu Harris might need another week or two to improve conditioning before getting a starting spot, he might also add something coming on in the first rotation with Bunty.
Against the Drags I think Tevaga becomes your back up hooker and Ben Murdoch-Masila comes into the team. He’s been looking good and they need to get him the ball more often.

I know we are still too early in the season for this but below is my “throwing caution into the wind” 17

Vailea
Dallin Watene-Zelezniak
Asi
Atkin
Montoya
Walsh
Chanel Harris-Tavita

Addin Fonua-Blake
Egan (hopefully back)
Lodge
Murchie
Katoa
Harris

Shaun Johnson (in case of golden point)
Ben Murdoch-Masila
Afoa
Pene
Lol I love the idea of having a specialist Golden Point player on your bench...
Its like nfl , just substitute on a whole defensive and attacking side lol

Cannot agree. Look at the 95kg prop in sundays game. Cant think of his name
Stats say he’s not a standout…

I like the guys potential but he has to do a role within the team. Being lighter and faster he needs to be supported by dominant players around him. We don’t have those dominant players after our starting props go off and with our lightweight second row.

To much smallness at once and it’s showing up in the lack of run meters and lack of control of the ruck speed game after game after game…

Can i favour you with a Murchie 80 mins 107 metres and 45 tackles??

Is there any possibility that Kosi might replace Dallin Watene-Zelezniak? Kosi averages 110m & has had zero errors as a right Wing this year. Dallin Watene-Zelezniak has topped 100m only once in his 5 starts & makes 1.6 errors per game.
Got to feel a bit sorry for Dallin Watene-Zelezniak with just 5 wins in his last 42 games!!
Bro i think going off your consistency in positions post I think maybe keep Dallin Watene-Zelezniak there for a few more games, he started to build up in that second half and may need more reps for his own game and someone on his insides that isnt new every week.

1.Arthars
2.Pompey
3.Aitken
4.Berry
5.Montoya
6.Walsh
7.Johnson
8.Fonua Blake
9.Egan
10.Lodge
11.Murchie
12.Harris
13.Tevaga

14.Otukolo
15.Murdoch-Masila
16.Afoa
17.Pene/Sironen

18.Lussick

Theres too much evidence that Walsh and Shaun Johnson will work in the halves

Aitken to centre.
Upon further review of last weeks game i think this squad would be ok without knowledge of whos coming back off injury

1.Walsh
2.Dallin Watene-Zelezniak
3.Vailea ( Still green but i need to see abit more defensively from him, im hoping he can correct some things)
4.Pompey
5.Montoya
6.Asi (best we have till Chanel Harris-Tavita or Volkman is experimented with)
7.Johnson
8.Fonua Blake
9.Tevaga
10.Lodge
11.Masila (I think Katoa to the bench as I dont think Ben can do any worse but I could be wrong)
12.Murchie (my new favourite backrower)
13.Harris

14.Lussick (hes good and one more game to see if it was the Asi effect lol)
15.Afoa
16.Katoa
17.Pene

The Aitken second row experiment needs to stop. He’s leaving at year end. So theres no long term gain for us letting him play through learning a new position.
