Maybe its the optimist in me but I actually think we have a chance here. The raiders weren't hot and the Sharks could have won if they had taken their chances. Be more clinical with our chances and I think we have a real opportunity here. Much higher prob of winning this than the next one. 2/4 I can live with.

Yeh I don't like their chances against the Roosters, but the Raiders game is winnable.

NRL coaches, and brown no exception, being so conservative will probably see Sean O'Sullivan start at 7 but there is a case to put kodi on the ball more, his kicking has been the better of the 2 halves (not saying much) and it will force him to be more involved and let Turner play a bit wider.

The raiders are very strong defensively though so its not a great game for turner get confidence in straight away, but he’s also bigger and more athletic for defence than Sean O'Sullivan so that could tip it his way, as again, NRL coaches are boring, boring men who value tackling and not making mistakes most of the time, and the raiders play pretty up the guts style as well.

But you’ve got to take a punt on your promising players when their turn comes IMO, otherwise what are you waiting on. If it was a one week injury then patching it and not changing anything with Sean O'Sullivan would make more sense but its not looking like that.

Expect they both remain in the 19 up until kick off though.

They won’t notice Jamayne Tounua-Brown not being there, probably start Ah Mau and give Bunty his minutes and Kane Evans gets the short Bunty stint at the end.

Also if you rate your forward depth and we should, then don’t play a half crocked Sironen instead of fit Murchie. Whether they start Ben Murdoch-Masila (who has looked great) or Murch not sure.

Good read.

I had Evans as a starter, because Addin Fonua-Blake makes serious in roads off the get go, and having another monster out there could be really interesting. Short starting role.

The other reason, is that the Bunty Ah Mauh Ben Murdoch-Masila combo looks among the best impact combinations in the NRL. Want to preserve that if possible.

Depth is getting a bit thin, signing Sean O'Sullivan was a smart decision. After Turner, we had nadda really.

Warriors page confirms Chanel Harris-Tavita out

Bugger.

The big picture is we needed Chanel Harris-Tavita to have a run of games this season to answer the big question in terms of the Warriors future direction.

This just muddies those waters and means when he comes back, the assessment of whether we stick with him or not....will go back to the drawing board again....square one...two opening season games forgotten.

Whether you like it or not, this is a rebuild season, therefore any success is a bonus, and as such, this is the year to test people like Chanel Harris-Tavita to make decisions about recruitment for this team, and whether we go in a new direction.

The injury just delays all that planning.

Hopefully Turner is given a crack

We need to be picking based on form right?

You would have to be absolutely stupid if you’re not picking Paul Turner and Tom Ale after their performances for Redcliffe, not only in the weekend just been, but in the Redcliffe trial. Both already showing that they’re too good for QLD cup.

Kane Evans was embarrassing in the weekend. 57m in reserve grade. That’s some washed up Leivaha Pulu type shit.

We need Paul Turner’s ball playing. Our attack is stale as fuck.

I think that we actually need Paul Turners footwork and speed to turn around the Raiders big guys

I was going to say the same thing.
Tom Ale has been our best forward for Redcliffe every game. He has to be in front of Evans, surely.

He has to be. There’s no way you can’t pick him.

150m on the weekend. One of metre leaders in dolphins trial and set up 50m try with a clean line break through the middle.

Had 160 odd metres in last years only NSW cup game too.

Given Brown's track record of after two games, Ale will get the nod just as Pompey did. Turner though is not a given as it's easier to hide a selection amongst the forwards or even the outside backs but not the spine..

More to gain than to lose IMO

Apparently raiders fans think Hodgson has been disappointing since coming back from injury and Soliola is too slow these days and should be dropped. It should be a dry track in Canberra. PT might be a weapon.

Should be a lot easier to hide than it is. Two excellent ball players in our back row with Tohu Harris and Sironen. Good game manager at hooker in Egan. The problem is our experienced half Nikorima goes missing too often and Roger Tuivasa-Sheck doesn’t offer much playmaking.
