Yeah I realise that but my question goes a bit deeper than that, what’s happened to his form, the first 1-2 months of the competition he was outstanding his form has dropped so dramatically I just don’t know why?!
Combination of things. Main two probably being:
- He's being asked to play a lot more prop and lock, so is in the middle of the field rather than being able to use his size and speed to break tackles on the edge. Evidence is seen with his tackles increasing from around 16 to low 20s, and tackle busts dropping from 2-3 a game down to 0-1.
- He doesn't strike me as someone with either a naturally high motor and/or the drive to put in the extras to get his fitness up to scratch. I remember he looked absolutely gassed his first couple of games, and he still does after relatively short stints.
Is it fixable? Probably, if
Lodge/
Addin Fonua-Blake continue to own the middle meaning we don't need to get the likes of
Ben Murdoch-Masila and Murch to play prop rather than their natural positions in the backrow.
