Regarding our attack:
"Cappy" Mcfadden left at the end of 2018, he was the 'Attacking coach' right? He was replaced by Todd Payten, a former prop/second rower. The full coaching staff is made up of three second-rowers (Kearney, Iro, Payten) and one halfback (Stacey Jones). As far as I know, there's not a lot of high level success amongst those guys, in any of their coaching positions. 2018 was the last time it seemed like we could score a try.

Regarding Green:
Green is part of the senior squad, and seems to be one of the only halfbacks in the whole organisation, so his experience is needed, but his execution as a player has not been great lately. As people are saying, he is slow, and his kicking is less than accurate. So this is my crazy idea, could he "pick up an injury at training" that means he has to avoid contact. Give him a few games as a waterboy/trainer. Direct the team, but give someone like Chanel Harris-Tavita (we need someone who can kick) the #7 jersey?

In the past I think coaches have fallen on the sword for this club, when the players weren't really putting the effort in. I think the players are trying right now, but it doesn't look like there's a decent plan for them to actually win games. The coaching staff needs a full rebuild, and a plan in place that fits the squad.

Nikorima says “ hi”

we need a someone at hooker with speed who can run at dummy half

Nikorima says “hi hi” 👋
I'd love to see Chanel Harris-Tavita have a run at hooker or at least work in a four with Nikorima, Green and a hooker. Chanel Harris-Tavita has pace to scoop and accelerate as well as having a kick game that while not ready to control a game could still be a handy option, and hes shown not only is he not afraid of contact hes quite good at it.
Id even look at having Chanel Harris-Tavita and Nikorima sharing the roles of 9 and 6 I think they could be dangerous. And sharing the work could save some energy for late in the game. Then a hooker who can start and then operate as a forward like Jazz has done in the past.
Would be a great way to get them all in the 17, also Green has been unconvincing so far and could be a chance to get Chanel Harris-Tavita ready to step in if Green cant refind his touch especially his kicking.

Kearney cant seriously turn a blind eye to scores of 0, 6, 0, and then 18 against the worst team in the comp where you had 50 sets of 6.

I'd have a throw of the dice a couple of ways,
Turner at FB
Roger Tuivasa-Sheck at 6
Green at 7
Kodi at hooker
If Turner has a bad day he can be subbed and the other 3 go back to their normal positions.
or
Roger Tuivasa-Sheck at FB
Kodi 6
Turner at 7
and have Chanel Harris-Tavita on the bench
Green is really only in the team for his kicking and organisation skills and both are completely lacking atm.
Would like to see ATG get a run but hes probably got too many offloads in him for Kearneys liking.

If Kearney cant change it up before it's too late then the one good thing to come out of it all will be him getting the sack next year
ATG should be in the squad. Thought Katoa & ATG were a good combo together in the trials. ATG brings mongrel & a desire to win. SK should be trying all options instead of keeping his head in the sand. Of course this doesn’t fit with the process.....Thou shalt not offload in attack

another hooker??

maybe Harris in the halves with Chanel Harris-Tavita and Nikorima in at hooker?

we know hes a good ball handler, has played in the halves before and will be solid on defence

Need to think outside the box if we want to solve this problem... I'm all for experimenting at this stage...

I don't know if I'd call Rocco Berry a big body, he'd be lucky to be 75kg dripping wet from the looks of him. I'd still give gim a run over plodder Pompey.
I would say hes about 6'2 about 90kg still a bit more filling out Hayze is 6".... I know hes still green and weve been playing a lot of rookies but I would just blood him in cant be worst than Pompey and the Knights played Bradman Best who had a great game and is 18yys
Terrigal training 1n berry

Can someone tell me what Papalii brings to the team? Am I missing something?

Well, folks, the sad news it that unless we're gonna knock out Mary McGregor and the entire Dragons team and nick the St George/Illawarra playing kit, we ain't got a hope in shit of getting that darn wooden spoon for the cabinet.

So that's another year's reprieve the spiders are gonna have, darn it. Charge the bastards/bitches rent.

Were Pompey and Perham same side? If so, that certainly was not the way to The Promised Land. I'd maayybe pick Perham again but not both. Given the lack of choices but to pick both, I'd even swap sides just to avoid a Winger/Centre combo that are both that inexperienced. Outside that, I can't see anything - given match fitness, injuries - beyond picking the same team as last week. Maybe I'd bring a newbie onto the bench. I'm wedded to the 3 Forwards/1 Utility Back idea so don't see who that Utility is going to outside Chanel Harris-Tavita or KN. I know players like to say "I play my best game at such-and-such-position" but fuck that. In a relative newbie like Chanel Harris-Tavita, you play where you're picked (Roger Tuivasa-Sheck began at wing, let's not forget). Especially with bells on with KN where "I play my best game at such-and-such-position" isn't showing itself when you're playing him in that position.

I thought before kickoff it was suicidal having Pompey, Hayze, and Katoa all on the same edge. With a grand total of sweet FA first grade games. Even when he uses rookies, he sets them up for failure by not having them mix and mingle with more experienced players around them.

He'll be crazy not to play Fusitua, even if not 100% fit, he's experienced.

Lack of it showed on last Friday.

Except 6 of the 17 player had less than 10 first grade games experience. 9/17 had less than 50 games.

You literally couldn’t keep the inexperienced players apart because they were more than half the team.

There was nobody more experienced available after a perfect storm of injury, isolation and a squad weighted to the future.

I get what your saying however that lack of experience is on the coach. He could have had a more experienced roster available if he had blooded players last year, during that terrible rebuilding period that we keep hearing about. The refs had already decided that the warriors werent going to make the 8 so it was the perfect time to do so.

I agree but what’s the chances of Fusitua, Maumalo, Ah Mau, Bunty, Paasi, Hiku, Burr, Kerrigan, Milne, etc all being out at once 🤔

About 100 per cent i would say.

Honestly out of that list i would only pick Hiku, Bunty, Ah Mau, Fusitua and Maumalo. And i really am not sure about Fusitua to be clear.

I personally think under the new rules the player we are missing most is Jazz and that is really really sad. Plus im not sure its about the players we are missing, its the players we are seeing that are the issue. Green and Nikorima would be first picks based on their wages every day. No team gets to sit and wait for the perfect moment before your halves start to play. They need to inject themselves into the game. Serious grabbing of the scuff and giving it a damn good shake out. For once you can see the forwards trying, thank god Tohu Harris Harris is back (I said at the start of last year how important he would be to the team). Put your youth and speed on the wings and dont let Rodger try and carry every kick back .

I was expecting to see Beale swap to the left, to sit inbetween the 2 rookies. With Hayze over the other side between Tohu Harris and Herbs who is also a rookie but appears more mature than Pompey.
