Gonna put my coaches hat on here & go with what I'd like to see

Melbourne did a job on us last night with a combination of hard direct running & Smith engaging our markers & being able to clear the ruck with his long bullet passes to a wide first receiver which negated our middles line speed & exposed our edges

Obviously our middle needs to aim up on defense to minimize any roll on, but the way to counter the tactic used by Melbourne is to actually have our line speed being led from the outside in by the edge forwards rather than from the inside out by the middle, it is for this reason I would have Blair as an edge forward along with Harris, I believe this would also help whoever is defending outside them as well as long as they push up with them

I also think Blair is currently somewhat wasted in the middle on attack, he has decent foot speed good footwork (certainly more than Mannering ) & great ball playing ability which I believe could be best utilized on the edge now that Pulu is out for an extended period, Mannering needs to go back to the middle where he is best suited to these days

A big part of our attack over the opening quarter of the season has been the ability of Issac Luke to engage the markers & clear the ruck with long bullet passes to the first receiver, sound familiar eg: Smith, it is for this reason that we simply must have a genuine ball player in the dummy half role & although I admire the courage & defensive energy Tevaga brings to the side his service from dummy half is average at best & utterly appalling at worst

All attack starts with the service from dummy half, good service is like half opening a door for an attacking raid to step through on the front foot, bad service leaves our attack fighting to push through closed doors off the back foot, it is for this reason I would start with Lawton who is by all accounts a vastly superior ball player to Tevaga

I would also drop Lisone altogether for Sao, Sam has had a genuine dig so far this season & has decent foot speed & good aggression, but he can be too easily dominated in the tackle, is still prone to making simple errors & is a defensive liability, whereas Ligi's transformation this season has been nothing short of outstanding

I would also start Gavet to have his combination of genuine intimidation & aggression right from the jump

I also see a lot of forum team lists do not include young Papali'i who for mine has done nothing wrong so far this season, so I would still have him on the bench as long as he is fit

1. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck (c)
2. David Fusitua
3. Peta Hiku
4. Solomone Kata
5. Ken Maumalo
6. Blake Green
7. Shaun Johnson
8. Bunty Afoa
9. Karl Lawton
10. James Gavet
11. Adam Blair
12. Tohu Harris
13. Simon Mannering

14. Jazz Tevaga
15. Isaiah Papali'i
16. Agnatius Paasi
17. Ligi Sao

Maumalo went pretty good last week I thought against the dragons. Storm got off to a super fast start - inhumanely extra weetbixy fast start with kicks flying everywhere. It was their night. Let's hope they don't have any more against the warriors this season.
Genuine question but does he go well enough as a winger? No doubt he makes the metres with his hit ups but we have a big winger on the other side and his hands certainly have got better both on the ground and under the high ball but his positional play as a winger is questionable? He always looks a bit lost. Would have him as an impact forward to run hard at players when they tire.

Havent seen much of him on attack this season he hasnt had too many opportunities yet. When Kata is there he goes for the line himself mostly. I think he got under the high ball and did well a couple of times this season that i recall. He is just not involved enough in the attacking sets to judge this season i guess.

Most of us calling for Lawton’s inclusion (myself included) but i’ve only actually seen a teeny bit of him in ISP so far this year.
Anyone know how he’s been going?

And how far back has Cherrington dropped? Seems to have fallen completely off the radar.

Lawton's been playing 80 minutes at hooker in ISP but not sure he's in out top 30 seeing that Sam Cooke's been named on the extended bench ahead of him so far.

If Kearney's going to consider Tevaga as a makeshift hooker why not Mason Lino who would give us a kicking option out of dummy half and can utilize his speed around the ruck.

From what Kearney has said Cook and Tevaga are going to share the hooking duties. Funny though cause Lawton has been playing hooker for ISP and Cook half back???
Cook has been the starting hooker, Lawton has been playing 30mins odd off bench(maybe except last week due to Lino). But with Lino playing FG last week and this, thats why Cook to 7 and Lawton to start at 9.

Lawton still down the pecking order from Cook.

This patch is where we find out just how huge a loss Roache is for the season.

Tohu Harris, Solomone Kata and Shaun Johnson are all set to be fit. Straight in the team IMO.

Issac Luke's injury poses issues with Jazz Tevaga only suppose to be a bandaid replacement, not a genuine hooker. This is Karl Lawton's chance to step up. Rather trial him ahead of Sam Cook.

Peta Hiku gets another chance simply because there is no one else to replace him who wouldn't just weaken that edge any worse than it was tonight.

Pack to stay the same with James Gavet returning in place of Albert Vete. While Vete has more impact at the line than some players he is simply to sluggish on defence.

Time for Ligi Sao to make a return in place of tonight's debutant. His workrate and attitude has been sorely missed during both losses.

Would prefer Simon Mannering and Adam Blair swap over as all attack dies with Mannering a Blair lands his offloads better in less traffic but I don't think that will happen anytime soon...

17. Ligi Sao

Same team I would go for without Lisone.

Why Lisone out of interest ?

Not a lot of alternatives to be fair better than Satae ?
