It'd be timely if Gavet makes a return for this game, we really missed his physicality against the Donks

Also what's the story with Vete ???

I don't watch ISP so I don't know whether his form of late has been good bad or indifferent ???

All I do know is that he seems to have fallen off the face of the earth when it comes to making the FG squad ... doesn't even make the extended bench

I have only watched one ISP game and it was the game yesterday. I think the problem with Vete is that he is not doing anything different than he has always done. He is solid but he looks slow and not particularly agile. His only real strength is to hit the line, then turn and offload. I don’t think he’d be out of place in our pack, as I don’t think any of our props are anything to write home about, but judging by the first few games I’d say Kearney is after mobility..

He’s been playing real well for ISP. Looks like a man amongst boys. Scored a try, bumped a few players off broke the line a few times. SK just doesn’t like that kinda players.

Gelling will get his chance. Being on the bench for the past 2 games as a back utility, he's locked in. I can't write him off after a couple 10 minute games. I just hope he defends well.

Pretty unlikely for 3 centres to be injured right now. Really hope Gavet is back, if not Sao to take Gavets spot on the bench, and Papalii on the bench with Simon to start at left second row. He needs to be beside Gelling. Mannering is a lock/prop, but his defence is needed next week out wide.

can barrack for changes without sounding crazy this week.

Kata out, Beale not ready, Ayshford not been playing due to bad back, Gelling… well you would hope not.

You need more than a 1 week fix, so I’d probably ask Fusitua to play left centre and put Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad on the wing.
If it was only one week just play Gelling and hope to get away with it. Would play Ayshford if he was fit.

Left back row, Papalii, he’s good, only lost his spot due to injury, so fair enough.

Hope Gavet is back then can really reshuffle the forwards, Lawton to replace Tevaga if they need backline cover, use him for that, also Luke will get a going over in the middle, he might need a spell this week.

1. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck
2. Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad
3. Hiku
4. Fusitua
5. Ken
6. Green
7. Johnson
8. Gavet
9. Luke
10. Blair
11. Papalii
12. Harris
13. Mannering

14. Lawton
15. Lisone
16. Afoa
17. Paasi, impact bench this time.

18. Sao (if Gavet can't play)
19. Tevaga, doesn't really deserve to be dropped, but you wouldn't play 4 middle forwards on the bench, don't think he's played a minute of hooker.

I rate him. Hes probably one of our more intelligent fullas too. But yeah hes a hit it up player. Hes a Union player originally isnt he? That probably explains things. Its like what Brandy was saying about the Warriors and only having forwards like Afoa, who just hit up, there is nothing dynamic about our forwards. Which Id have agreed with in prior years, but Harris and Luke are very dynamic. You dont get much better than Harris, a guy his size, with the step of a back (hence his line break stats) and his quality offloads creating second phase play (hence us having by far the highest offload count). Id like to see another Harris like forward. Mannering with a step and an offload haha.

I want the team that went up against the Roosters in Round 4, whatever that one was. Ta.

That would mean Lino replacing a player and its not going to be Johnson, the uproar on the forums if we were to play like that again if Johnson was dropped. One thing about the warriors is, they dont change. Also Pulu is out. I dont know if I liked the interchange much either, but yes the outcome would be nice and it definitely looked out most structured and professional game of the season.

Although hes still killin it in ISP

https://www.nswrl.com.au/news/2018/04/14/lino-stars-as-warriors-thump-blacktown/

On the Lino on the bench thing, they could use his kicking most definitely, but to be honest hes a half back. At 84kg he is nuggety, he could sub for Luke, Green, Johnson. Hes not slow like some make out, but hes not as fast as say Johnson. I think they kept him as they were going to put him in at 7 and play Johnson at 6, as it turned out they bought Green. Personally I dont think its a bad thing having a half back of his calibre in reserves, the only worry is him being poached as he continues to perform year in year out like above and in the rooster game. If we could keep him until Green leaves, that would be awesome.

Mannering is a real confidence player. If him and Green click out on the left look out.

Yep that would be my team. Ive been waiting for Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad to get a chance as Kata has underwhelmed since his first season. With his hip strength I really expected more tackle busts. Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad is pretty slight of frame though, but he has other skills.

Yay for Papali'i returning. Definitely the MoM round 1. So glad the injury wasnt too serious. A young super star in the making.

The only thing about the bench is, we dont have enough Mannering type forwards that can cover a back as well. A suppose Afoa. But really the club is overloaded with bowling balls and needs more Harris types. Mannering 2.0, this version insert side step and offload :).

And yep glad Gavet is back. Hes pretty 1 dimensional like Afoa, but what he does bring is intensity and i LIKE it.

I would give Gelling another crack, been riding the pine for 2 weeks and comes in cold for 10,tries to get involved and makes a couple mistakes which looks bad but I need to see him for extended time before dumping him.
Yeah that was a bit unfair. He looked frustrated too. I actually think hes the kind of player we do need on the bench as he could cover many positions. When he dropped the ball I felt so bad for him, he gets a crack in a no win situation and makes a 1/100 mistake.

Are you referring to Gelling’s dropped ball? To me, it looked like he didn’t give a f*ck lol.

Hoping for a strong performance from Mannering this week. Tbth, his attack is looking pretty damn average at this point, doesn’t seem to look to offload anymore. I know it’s been that way for a little while, but its more noticeable now amongst our other offloading forwards.

His defence is still legendary and I won’t question it, but I’m really hoping for a strong attacking performance from him this week.

I’d also prefer to see Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad come on to the wing, and Fusitua replace Kata. I know we’ve only seen snippets of AG but I really don’t think the class/skill level is there.

the least amount of changes possible in my opinion. i keep hearing gavet is out til rd 8. so assuming we have no Kata, Pulu (massive loss IMO), Gavet this is what id roll with. we definitely need the extra forward on the bench too. when pulu got hurt last weekend we lost some serious grunt. even if satae only plays 15-20 mins its bette than having a back that plays 5 mins.

I'm thinking that SK knows something about Gelling's game that we haven't witnessed yet. Maybe he has shown this at training and not had the chance in his tiny cameo slots. It would be very strange if he was not the automatic replacement for Kata. Least disruption to the back line, big body etc.

Not saying I'm a fan, just looking at it logically. I don't believe you can go off the very few minutes that he's been given so far. He'll also have the benefit of training there all week.
