Pick Your Team 2017 Rnd 17 - Manly vs Warriors

Manly​

After the Round 16 game against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at Mt Smart Stadium do you want to see any changes for the Round 17 game against the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles nib Stadium?

Demotions?
Any new injury concerns?
Any returning players?
Any tweaks to the bench?

Kata is a tough one. Kinda feel like he should come back through NSW cup esp as his head may not be in the right place but at the same time it would kinda feel like kicking him while he's down.
It'll be interesting to see how sk handles it.
Obviously roache takes bully's spot but the question is who shares his minutes. Cherington could prove an inspired pick up- jazz is an option too.
Jazzs physical in your face style could suit starting the game with Roach coming on at a similar time as he did last night or.... u go all out attack with a roache/ cherrington combo.
Manu is still waiting in the wings too and Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad did have a bit of a shocker.
Team naming Tuesday is actually gonna hold some interest for a change.

Why not Kata on the bench, and I know, I know, he has played DH before, I am not trying to convert him to a Hooker.

Even coming on as a 2nd Rower near the end of halves.

Kata could come out and play for his brother, which could make him unstoppable.

just not sure who i would put him in for, maybe just on the bench as an impact player

Im not sold on Ata, needs more time?. He didnt offer any direction, 1 kick, took on the line like once, a few poor passes and errors.

I reckon Lino should get a crack in FG next week, has a few extra years on him ie 23. Has a better kicking and can organise.

The game last night just felt like last years games when shaun was doing everything (ie first receiver, all the kicking) and thomas would just be applauded for his defense.

Thoughts?

Roache capable of 80mins, Jazz as cover for Hooker and back row.

I'd explore Cherrington for Jazz out of curiosity but not much more.

Kata to spend some time in ISP to draw and pass.

Interesting observation around SK's clairvoyance, ATA on the bench when Foran goes off injured, Roache on the bench the following week and Luke goes off.

Buys a Hooker and a week later Luke out for possibly an extended period.

The process is becoming a forward looking entity.....

One player who is not improving in the team right now is Kata. I have believed for some time that he is ruining the play for his winger and running too much infield. He is a defensive liability as well, although not for lack of effort, he just makes poor reads.
The problem for SK is Kata has so much top line speed he is difficult to drop from the outside backs, maybe he would be better on the wing.
I think after the Dogs game SK has to see the light and persist with Ayshford and Fusitua in the centres, if for no other reason to progress Maumolo's game. That try of Ken's on Friday showed what an amazing talent he is, he just needs more ball in space.
That would see Kata and Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad competing for a wing spot, but I don't know that SK sees it that way.

Depends on what we want to get out of the season. I don't think Mason Lino will be the difference between us making the finals or not (assuming Foran spends the rest of the year in and out of the side with niggles). Therefore if Hingano is pegged as the future halves partner for Shaun Johnson, you'd have to say he should spend as much time as possible in first grade.

We aren't going to make the finals IMO. I am happy to develop for next year and JD would have more friends if he was honest about that.

I have always liked Lino, and his kicking game seems very sound, it just needs to be tested at FG level. Maybe because he doesn't have a manager fielding offers from overseas all the time he gets taken for granted. What I would like to see is another option to Shaun Johnson kicking all the time because without Foran there it is leaving Shaun Johnson exposed. Lino might be a better kicking option than Ata but in the long run I think Ata has the better all round game.
