Lukes had a dig twice this year ,roosters been the other .. that fat little unfit fuck can piss off to stewart island for all i care .. allthough he did set up ashfords try. He is not the future of this club
Why do we have fans like you calling our players names like *Fat fuck* when all we do is sit on the couch pushing buttons telling them how to play?
His attack is ok. Nothing to write home about. His defensive work is better though. Hes a hard little bloke. Hits hard & often. Takes them head on. He has no fear. Unlike half of our pack who should be doing the work he does.
I'm not saying hes in the best form.
But he more than does his fair share of the work load.
Stop already with the name calling ow.

As far as the stats go what constitutes a tackle and a miss. I mention that as I know the All Blacks started using stats of effective tackles, which changed the look of things entirely.

Same as run metres, make it effective run metres, Gavet didn't run for as much as others, but he was effective.
Effective in that the tacklers were probably still counting their marbles by the time the next runner arrived, the Shane Webcke type of prop. the thing with Webcke was that he was running as hard at 80 minutes as he was at the first hit up.
we need balance, the biggest reason we don't win the forward battle is because we have a team full of workers, Mannering, Hoffman, Lillyman, Gubb, Thompson.
a few of those guys in your 17 are fine but they're not asking any questions of the opposition, there not fatiguing the opposition through heavy contact and they're not forcing the opposition in to mistakes through aggressive defense,
I would not like to tackle Mannerng, he is all muscle and bone and deceptively fast. It is just that he is so good he makes what he does look easier than it is.

so for us uninitiated, what does an effective tackle constitute re the allblacks. I just wonder what the differences would be in the stats we see.

If I remember rightly they had concerns about Conrad Smith's defence (this was years ago) when they started counting effective tackles it was different. Although he never destroyed people in the tackle he was a very effective tackler.

A difference in the stats would be hitting an opposition player and he carries on for another 10 metres and offloads. Under the present system it is a tackle.

Whats the saying, there are lies, damned lies, and statistics.

Is that the the union system? That isn't a tackle.

I've only seen the highlights, but it appears Thompson has been playing poorly from his stats, particularly attack. I would have Afoa in there.

For the Trainspotters out there I have questions.

1. Why do we have players who only play about 10 minutes off the bench or even not at all, surely it is a 17 man game. Surely that 10 minutes can be taken by a Sipley or similar if necessary.

2. Are there stats showing how many interchanges are unused each week.

3. How do forum members think Kearney handles the Interchange (he is ultimately responsible)

Okay, I'll put my hand up as a Trainspotter!

Re 1, I have no idea why teams (not just us) use the bench so inefficiently. Having someone sit there for 70 minutes means you've given up the equivalent of seven 10 minute breaks for the guys in the run-on team. Why would you do that?

Re 2, I'm not aware of any, but it would be a useful thing to be able to monitor.

Re 3, the pattern has mostly been, three of the bench get a decent go, fair enough, but Roache sits there for most (or even all) of the game. I seem to remember we've had other people earlier in the season sit there for the whole 80 (Lolohea, maybe?) The only reason I could see for that is, you have a nagging fear that Issac will break down, and covering Luke is Roache's sole function. But that seems a terribly limited thing to do. Why wouldn't you (for example) have a 'super sub' (Hohaia comes to mind, natch) who would do do more than just sit there as insurance against just one eventuality? So no, I don't think it's been handled as effectively as it might have been, especially as in one of the recent games (can't remember which) Luke was taken off around the 70th minute and Roache brought on - just at the critical point where you need your first-choice hooker at the death. Can't see the logic there at all. That said, I though there was an improvement on Saturday when Vete and Lisone came on at the same time - that seemed to work as a tactic

I think Luke came off after he ran about 60 metres trying to get back to cover the Broncos second try. He would've been pretty gassed by then.

Ugh, 9:50pm start, I hate these games.
The odds are against us with this time slot.

If you look at our win/loss record in this time slot/away from etc,,,, that is.

If you like throwing magic beans into a big wooden bowel to judge the odds, then we got this....:sperm:

Does the time not get negated by the cooler weather???
I did the survey a few years ago now, but I don't think it makes any difference.

And it's always time plus travel for the late games, which would explain it.

It's still no excuse. It just points to a continually slack effort on the preparation side of things.

But odds are odds if your a betting man. So best to know them before putting your hard earned cash down I say.

I hope Kata doesn't play. The let side attack is muck more functional without him. Winger actually has a chance of scoring without him shutting everything down. Come to think of it, defense is better without him too.

From Fox sports, they are expecting the Warriors to be slaughter on Friday night.

EELS

Outs: Isaac De Gois (concussion, indefinite), Matt Woods (shoulder, round 13), Frank Pritchard (ankle, round 18), Corey Norman (knee, round 14-15), Nathan Brown (ribs, indefinite), Michael Jennings (quad, round 16)

It’s a big week for: Mitchell Moses. His arrival at Parramatta has been all over the shop thanks to Corey Norman’s knee injury, but the young halfback looks in good touch. He could have a day out against a hot and cold Warriors side.

In calculations: Despite whispers suggesting Corey Norman could make an early return from injury, he has forecast a more realistic comeback for round 15. Nathan Brown’s ribs will be monitored, but he could also play.

Crystal ball: The Eels will tear the Warriors’ defence apart, with or without Corey Norman. Expect plenty of tries.

WARRIORS

Outs: Matt Allwood (ribs, indefinite), Manu Vatuvei (calf, round 14)

It’s a big week for: Shaun Johnson. Last week’s win over Brisbane didn’t do much to silence the doubters. Johnson starred against a depleted Broncos side but plenty of supporters want to see him do it against a full-strength Parramatta on this side of the ditch.

In calculations: Solomone Kata due back from a calf injury but Manu Vatuvei remains a week away. Veteran Jacob Lillyman may be kept on ice depending how much Origin takes out of him.

Crystal ball: The Warriors will fall back into old habits and leak plenty of points to the Eels. It could get ugly.

Ah, Kata is back. Only change. Hopefully he has a decent game. At least as much as hungus battering ram with limited league smarts and basic skills can.
