Changes Needed!
Cappy gets a bad rap on some things, but one thing that isn’t in dispute (IMO) is he a TERRIBLE manager of an interchange bench.
Selects bad options and uses them seemingly at random.
Take Matulino, he’s gone from coming off the bench to being some sort of 80 minute super forward?
Get real, play him in two 25-30 minute blocks with a break in the middle. How a top prop is supposed to be used.
Konrads brief run as a lucky charm is ova, two backs on the bench is not an option at this level.
If its important to give TL some minutes (I agree with that part) and you aren’t going to sub Issac, then what are you left with?
Vete is the only proper go forward man on the bench as Gubb is not that kind of player. Crazy stuff.
For this week:
Hurrell, Robson, Gubb (punishment for having a mare) are OUT. Lisone is borderline as well. He might be too lightweight for the bulldogs.
Thomspon and then Sao, Gavet, Lane, Lisone or Lauitiiti or any 2 specialist forwards over 6ft1 and 105kg I don’t really care which, IN.
And manu if he’s 100%. If he’s likely to limp off, then just keep Wright for another week.
Start Vete, sub with Lillyman after 15-20.
Sub Matulino with Gavet after 25-30.
Inject Sao or Lane or whomever in the second half for one of the backrowers.
That’s 6 changes if you bring 3 bench forwards on, and then off again, still got 2 left.
You have “senior” workhorse prop on at all times, you have a hard charging shorter minutes one on too.
You have some sort of offloading strike player available, not a center masquerading as a prop.
Keep Tevaga or even Robson up your sleeve if you really need utility cover for TL breaking down.
Does that not make more sense?
