This is the best time of week, the initial post game anger, shock and pain has gone and out comes the bargaining and acceptance. Its the time of week when you think "do I need to attach less to the Warriors, these are genuine symptons of grief/depression."

Don’t want to be overdramatic, but the first half, there was a legit sinking feeling of despair, that this year won’t be any different after all.

Rounding the bend into the denial-acceptance stage, the warriors will probably have a dig this weekend, they’ve got their contractually obligated piss poor effort for the fortnight out of the way.

Albert Einstein defines insanity as "Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

I guess that makes us all insane. On the bright side I wonder if I can get a few days off from work due to having an illness that needs treatment.

I think normally we would have folded completely and not even had a look in.

The fact that we fought back and could have won with a lucky bounce says to me that this season is going to be huge.

It's still going to be the roller coaster, but the highs will be a lot higher than the last 4 years. Our squad is the best we've ever had IMO.

I'm not going to talk about the real reason we played so bad. But when that factor isn't a factor, look out NRL...

So if we go with a sensible team this weekend we can beat Bennys Broncos...

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck. All round madman.

Wright. Tackle Slave
Allwood. Tackle Slave

Based on previous years I can't see there being any changes unless the Coach has all of a sudden grown a pair of Cojones.

Vete in for Henry with Lisone or Roache to play back row if required.

As an aside, I wouldn't mind seeing Roache in the halves. I think this kid has it in spades.

The selecting Manu has got to be a real headache for the coach, but the current logic of pairing him with Kata doesn’t make any sense.

If the club believes that Manu is first choice, he’s still a weapon on attack and his presence lifts the team, whatever the justification is…

Then you have to cater to him, as his defence is getting worse as he gets older you need your best defender (we don’t have anyone good, find the least bad) who can also pass, or you get the bad D and you’re not really using him on attack fully.

Kata fits neither of those. Neither does Hurrell. Lolohea had a go in the last trial and the footage was EXACTLY the same as in Rd 1, left centre doesn’t move, manu comes in, and easy try.

Who can do the job? Ayshford might be the best bet on curent evidence...

If he isn’t the force on attack he once was, then… what’s the point?

Currently just creating a highway for teams to attack us down the left, other teams aren’t stupid, they’ll just keep going in that direction and eventually find joy, how can we be successful, when just basic moves every team can run will catch us out?

The only way would be to completely error free and disciplined every week, dominate possession and their limit chances, but Vatuvei hurts that plan as well.

Surely they must see this at training, Johnson and the right hand side must run stuff against Kata, Manu and the left, do they score every time? Do they actually shut it down in training only to fail on the weekends?

I’d guess most of the team gets a chance to redeem themselves this week (though its really 2 poor performances in a row) and if they fail badly again, the axe gets swung for the first home game.

Yeah I can't see them doing something like Manu to lock on a 5 day turnaround. Plus the NSW Cup side had 36 points scored on them, mostly on the edges, so I don't think we can look to Allwood, Fusitiua or Hurrell to fix the left side defence.

The problem is that we really don't have any all round centres who can defend and attack.

Either we offload Hurrell and try to buy one or we teach the ones we've got how to do their job.

Swapping players with a NSW Cup team that also got raped out wide isn't going to solve the problem.

The coaching - or lack of - is the problem.

the team announcement tomorrow will be interesting.

Honestly, I expect us to win this week against the Broncos. This game just has that kind of feel to it. Coming off a horrible performance, short turn around, flight home, flight to Brisbane, away against the 2016 competition favourite who backed that up with a strong week 1 performance away from home... Everyone will be predicting a hiding. These are the games the warriors aim up for and surprise people.

(well, either that, or we're looking down the barrel of a 50 point hiding).

Regardless, even with me expecting us to do well this week... I don't know how long they can persist with Kata/Manu on the left together. They are both fine as individual players and I have no agenda when I say this. But together - the defensive reads are abysmal. Either there is no communication, the reads are bad, or the lateral movement is bad, or the attempted tackle is bad. It can't be persisted with IMO. Last year they were shredded a few times. Round 1 this year they get obliterated on the edge. Do we seriously think teams won't target them?

The problem is - what do you do with it... we don't have a defensive centre to babysit Manu. Without completely rearranging the structures between left and right - it will be difficult. I don't think they'll make any changes on that left edge this week. I think Hoffman, Robson, Kata, Manu will run out. But what will happen if the broncos tear us a new one out there?

Oddly, I don't see Bennett getting his side to target our left as much as the tigers did. The broncos tend to favour right to left play, so Ayshford/Lolohea will get a bit of attention this week. I also would not be surprised if the Broncos targetted us in the middle of the ruck... punching holes and looking for offloads. The obvious strategy will be to target our left edge... Bennett doesn't always go for the obvious...

You can swap the side around positionally as much as you like. Sub in a forward or back here and there. It won't change anything. These guys are all practicing the same flawed gameplans and structures at training, and they'll all have the same issues on game day.

Ok doky new team. Thinking here is to only have one dropsie, incompetent defender with attacking upside on the field.

1. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck
2. Lolohea
3. Ayshford
4. Allwood
5. Fusitua
6. Robson
7. Johnson
8. Gavet
9. Luke
10. Matulino
11. Thompson
12. Hoffman
13. Mannering

Bench
Roach
Lisone
Vete

After having a good thunk about how Taylor used Lovett, Im really liking what he did there and it would mean Shaun Johnson has to play more of an old skool half role getting his hands on the ball all the time.
Really not too sure how it would go but The Tigs were killing us using a similar structure.
I really don't want to play around with that right.
So I've come up with this one that I think would help relieve the defensive problems of our left, you could go for a number of options at 4 and 5, but you can't have Manu/Kata or Kon playing together, any particular combo will do though as long as we break it up with safe.

1. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck
2. Tui
3. Blake
4. Kata/ Hurrell
5.Wright/Allwood
6.Manners
7.Shaun Johnson
8. Mutts
9.Bully
10. Jimi
11.Thompson
12.Hoffman
13. Lisone
14. Nate
15.Vete
16.Bull
17.Manu

Edit:just swapped Manners to put him wider in the defensive line.

How would a squad with no Tongans look? I'm not suggesting we do this (cause it's not right at all to pick a squad based on Nationality), just interested to see what it looks like.

1. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck
2. Wright
3. Allwood
4. Ayshford
5. Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad/Wells
6. Johnson
7. Robson
8. Matulino
9. Luke
10. Gavet
11. Thompson
12. Hoffman
13. Mannering

14. Roach
15. Lisone
16. Lillyman
17. Lauititi

The outside backs are the place where it looks the most different. Almost unrecognizable even....

One half and an extra forward? It's been tried before with the likes of Faumuina, Mateo and Koopu, and I can't remember it ever working out too well.

Yea I know, it was the way Taylor utilised them that was interestingly different with Littlejohn at Hooker and Moses roving, Lovett was an extra Forward.
With the Warriors they tried playing a halves role with them.

I wouldn't make any radical changes - the NSW Cup team for bummed too - I'd spend this week practicing catching, tackling and counting opposition players in defence.

Kata out, Hurrell in (Katas hands have let him down since the back end of last season)
Manu to the bench to play time in the forwards then backs if needed, Fusitua in (Fusitua may have issues but he is the future)
Lisone out, Vete in (need more size)
Lillyman has to make an impact this week

1. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck

3. Hurrell
4.Ashyford

13. Mannering

14. Roach
15. Lisone
8. Vete
17.RFM

Manu gone, Lillyman gone, I could easily keep Robson in the team but I'd like to see Tui getting his hands on the ball more.
The backline has a nice mixture, the fire power of Kata and Hurrell tempered with the steadying Wright and Ashyford
