Same winning team.

Should win this game easily against a pathetic Roorters team who will be missing Boyd Cordner and Blake Ferguson because of Origin.

Just like the Knights game that people were worried about this another game we should win well but this time at home...
It shocks me how many of you guys are on the same page as Cappy Bro.
I haven't been happy with one of the teams he has selected, or maybe this thread should have a different name.;)

Fact is we are winning.

I dont like Cappy but Im not blind enough to let my biasedness get in the way of results.

I'll wait until that changes before criticising the man or his selections...

There's a part of me that didn't want us to win against the Bronx just so they're forced to get rid of crappy
but it's the time of the year when we get wins , But have to admit it felt good when we won ,I just can't buy
into it just yet

Wells or Maumalo on the wing if Manu's out.
I'm still struggling to see what Gubb brings. Don't not like the guy but he just doesn't look like a first grader to me.
I'd actually like to see Lane given a bench spot. Seems to be going ok in reserves and he brings something a little different. That try he scored yesterday was pretty special.
In saying that, happy if same team announced as its a winning one at the moment.

I see why Charnze isn't considered for First Grade yet. His decision making is poor.

Wouldn't choose Maumalo either.. as big as he is he just doesn't use his frame and the tries he let in were shocking. Don't want to see that in First Grade.

Wright offered nothing but Mcfreddo will probably pick him.. 'safety option' selection. zzzz

Wells is the guy for a wing spot.. he's a busy player brings a different dynamic to Manu obviously but he deserves a chance. Footy smarts tall and lean like Fusitua. I have a hunch he'll do well if given a shot.

I have a feeling the second tier cap will stop him from getting a shot this year unless we have a bad run of injuries in the backline.

No chance of us getting a dispension for him at this point.

There was an article earlier in the week about I think it was Manly being unsure if Liam Knight could play because they'd already used 28 players this year. We've used more than that. I wouldn't be expecting to see anyone get a start who hasn't already played this year.

Wells is very unlucky, he is one smart player with a great work ethic, the places he shows up in is what we have been asking for since 02, I think he's a bit more talented than Ivan but his positioning is first class, he like Blake where they put themselves in positions that make other people look good and support play that is unreal.
Deserves a shot.

How the hell does New Castle field a team then, even the Rorters have used heaps.

Newcastle are playing a bunch of kids who would be on SFA, plus the amount of injuries they have the NRL will most likely give them dispensions. Roosters are in a similar position. They let go Elliott, SKD/Pearce are injured, Copely has been injured, Ferguson will be missing for Origin etc

If we have guys who are fully fit in the same positions, the NRL won't give us permission to go outside the second tier cap just because we'd rather use someone else. There's zero chance the NRL give us a dispension for Wells when they can just turn around and tell us to use Wright/Allwood/Maumalo instead.

I get what your saying but unless your JD telling me its all speculation, are you JD?

No, hence why my original post started with "I have a feeling".

And just because it's pure speculation on my part doesn't mean it's wrong. Whether it's cap or coach preference, I'll be very surprised if we have anymore debutants for the club this year without a bad run of injuries alongside it.

So 2 weeks you reckon?
Personally my knives are away until there is no doubt we wont make the top 8. For me thats enough of an improvement based on the shit we have put up since 2011. I CBF discussing the guy as its absolutely pointless when the options are slim to zero of having him replaced. I'll save myself the unnecessary stress and go with the flow.

God help this club if we dont make the finals and Cappy isnt fired though...

I know exactly what your talking about Bro, my point is more of the how could they let that happen?
Particularly after losing Roger Tuivasa-Sheck so early.

After the last few years where teams haven't been able to play Moylan etc, you would think that we would insulate ourselves from that very situation.

Cappy is a shit Coach and reactionary without actually doing anything to improve the make up of the team and it took someone else to take a hard line for something to happen form wise, and Im not so sure it really worked.

The Storm still would have put 40 on us yesterday, by half time.

Yeah it's frustrating for sure if there's any truth to it.

I first suspected that the second tier might be facing a bit of stretching when we played the Dragons. Palavi, Lousi, Allwood are all top 25 but not in the clubs plans. Them getting a run made me think that we were out of options more than anything else.

Then there's guys like Tevaga who wouldn't have been top 25, but just surprised everyone with how well he adapted (those are the positive second tier ones you can handle eating away at your cap to a degree, Gavet is in a similar boat).

Hurrell is another complication. Obviously top 25 but we had no intention of playing him. Can't remember if Ayshford was top 25 or not, but the Konnie situation could definitely have had an effect on that. Now that he's left I assume the next highest player gets pushed into the top 25 and that may cause more issues (or free up room, who knows).

Robson may have inadvertantly caused a similar situation for Hingano. With Tevaga/Roache having emerged unexpectably that seemed to completely remove the option of TL playing bench hooker and therefore Robson becomes surplus but if there was a vacany in the halves we'd again almost be forced to pick Robson.

Also I have no idea how compariable RFM and Lane were contract wise (you'd assume reasonably close for both sides to agree to a swap) and whether or not either of them are top 25.

I'm just spitballing at this point, but if it is a cap issue rather than coach preference then I would guess it's a combination of things that have caused it, and I agree it's not an ideal situation and quite frustrating.
