Staff Phil Gould

I’ve always wondered if Brown was always a short term option and really brought here for the players he seems to be able to attract as he was also able to do at Newcastle. As I said this morning, Gould was hired more to do with pathways etc and hasn’t hardened their mentality to grind out whole games. A director of coaching seems to be what is being done at each club and last week ex sharks coach John Morris became the rabbits assistant coach, so Demeitriou is obviously taking over. If we’re to see on field results I believe Wayne Bennett needs to be our director of coaching. It’s a role where he could stay in Aussie and commute when bubbles allow, but the team is in Aussie for the foreseeable future anyway. I had some faith with Gould around in Brown, unfortunately now I’m concerned, but someone like Bennett overseeing him would put me at ease. Robinson also strikes me as a guy Bennett would like for some reason. Just my two cents.

Gould was almost in tears on that clip. He is a very loyal person. He will do whatever he can to help the club, as long as it doesn't clash with the Bulldogs.

He has a world of contacts, if you can remember back to when Ivan Cleary was poached to Penrith it came out that he had been texting Ivan for years. The saying goes that Gould always get what he wants, well he will not want the Warriors to go down.

What worries me is I can see at least one more season with no games at MSS. Not only is that going to cost Autex money, but only the true blue fans are going to stick around...that will be the true test.
well that comes down to Mowhaks ego. Is he going to want to listen to Gould now he is at the bulldogs? is he even going to to trust him? i mean do they even have ideas of who could replace him?

Winning games will solve the money issue. Sponsorship, Merch and membership sales will all rise not to mention you get all the band wagoners who will jump on the train to success. If there are no games at MSS next year you would have to think they look at where the biggest population of kiwis are and try and base themselves there and get people to a game. Central coast def aint it

Which is going to be nothing, but give his thoughts and opinions on Twitter or whatever social media platform he uses. Have you listen to him commentate during origin??. He sounds like he’s lost a few marbles. Just gibberish nonsense sometimes. Not a Gould fan. Never have been, never will be.

Robinson will probably say all the PR things in public but behind close doors I’m sure he’ll be fuming. Yes, it’s COVID it’s this, it’s that.. whatever the million and 1 reasons, the hits just keep on coming at this club…..

Robinson and Bennett might get on, maybe, but Brown made some rude comments about his time at Newcastle, specifically the thing between his legs.

I think it is beyond doubt he will be angry, that is the guy. However he has to do something about it and use his brains. That is what guys like him do, they have had problem times at Autex in the past and have always worked through it.

He is no Eric Watson, mind you covid is a real bummer, not just for the club but possibly Autex as well.

I have always thought Gould’s biggest fan was Phil Gould.

I don’t see the attraction.

Not like he didn't sign on when covid was around, only things thats changed is more money and a bigger name club probably. Surprised we haven't hit rock bottom yet, wonder how deep this hole really is? This club reminds me of Napoli in the 80s, nobody wants to go near it and everyone that comes here turns to shit.

Cheer up man, we're not the Titans. Tbf we've been in most games this year and haven't been involved in any of the 50 nill hidings (yet). All the signs point to a Bulldogs Warriors GF in 5 years thanks to Jesus Gould.

It's just been very hard to watch over the last couple of years. We've always been shit but atleast the warriors of old could entertain the shit out of you when you least expect it. Other shit teams have racked up scores and made it click one random week, what the fucks wrong with us?

We absolutely ruined Roger Tuivasa-Sheck career as well, that makes me sad. We never helped him reach his full potential and now he's gonna go out a bottom 4 loser playing on the fucking wing. We shouldn't be this shit!

Not this week!

COVID was a thing when we signed him. Was a confusing signing from the get go. How was he meant to learn the current junior environment and implement new pathways from across the ditch. Truth be told Gould was never gonna be able to fix the current situation - the allure of first XV rugby and dream of wearing the All Blacks jersey is too much to overcome. So not at all worried about this news, just as long as we hold onto POS.

I thought he'd be more useful for us as an influencer with the NRL and in the media, maybe get some friendly calls or something, that didn't happen. Like, he can recommend we have an SG ball team, they had one of those, covid ruined it, maybe in 2 years they can have it back again, probably didn't need Philip Ronald to tell them that.

At least browny doesn't have to worry about being declared tired anymore

I've commented previously that we have had various people come in and want to restructure the club or setup pathways etc. The job never seems to get finished before the person moves on either due to being fired or they decide they want to move back to Australia. This one is a bit more understandable as its due to circumstances created by Covid. Listening to previous interviews it sounds like Gould has tried to help out where he can due to the situation its currently in. This has meant instead of trips to NZ to work with the club its been Skype calls and working with the NRL side. He was doing a lot of trips up to see the team during the pre season.

Previous posters have stated Covid was a thing before they signed him. Probably like a lot of people around the world especially the sporting world it was probably a bit naïve (hope spell check got that right) from the club and Gould expecting things to change from 2020. A lot of people were expecting things would be back to normal in 2021. Now listening to Gould discuss his conversation with Robinson it sounds like its a bit more realistic that things are going to be disrupted for a while longer yet. I recall hearing ministers say the borders might be restricted till 2024. Sure we have/had a travel bubble but as we have seen the situation isn't stable enough to have teams travelling between the two countries.

It sounds like he will still be available to the club for advice. Now how realistic that will be time will tell.

Its a shame but understandable if he can't fulfill the task he was signed to perform. It's either wait, adjust his role or move on. It sounds like there is respect from both sides instead of the usual falling out you'd see in rugby league. We might see him back involved with the club once things settle down.

When the Bulldogs rumour first came up I was a bit worried due to him having history there. Like Penrith its an old club he'd like to get on track.

I'd guess when they came back this time besides the role they had an offer he couldn't turn down. Even if he Covid wasn't a thing and he could do his role at the Warriors as it was initially intended the mess the Bulldogs are currently in would of meant there still would of been rumours linking him to them. At least then it would of been a case of.

The Warriors job unfinished, set the club up like he sees an NRL club, pathways for NZ/Pacific Islands which he seems passionate about.

Vs the Bulldogs we he has history at the club, likely good money and local to him in Sydney.

It was great having one of the NRL's biggest names attached to our club. Usually he doesn't have a good relationship with the head office and would of had to push our case via his media work. He is meant to have a good relationship with V'Landys. He would of also been good as another voice when recruiting players, convincing them the club is on track.

I wonder if they looked at basing themselves in Brizzy and playing out of Suncorp every other week with the Broncos. Bigger cost structure so risk there - more chance of bigger gate takings?
