General Peter Jessup sucks

On Lowe ..I don't mind his column.. but I don't like the way he sometimes uses half his column to crap on about some player he used to coach in England 20 years ago that has some loose similarity to someone in the Warriors squad.[/QUOTE]

I believe that they do have quite a bit of similarity. I'm sure what happened 20 years ago still happens now and what is happening now will still be happening in 2029.

i cant believe that people are so thin skinned that they would get so upset about an article to write a thread on it!!! they are journalists, their job is to create interest and hype up things or get people to think from a different perspective, they dont give a **** whether you agree or not. their job is to sell papers.

id much rather have this anyday than 'positive' stories about the warriors week in week out. that is one of the reasons why i visit this forum, we all express our concerns when we lose, and all celebrate and go ecstatic when we win. id much rather a person who says it like it is then a bandwagoner who just agrees with you all the time.

I think everyone would prefer that.. and that's not my problem. If the Warriors play sh*t i expect to hear about it, and vica versa. We played well last weekend considering the conditions and there were plenty of encouraging signs which Jessup chooses to completely ignore for whatever reason. And to say that it was a much improved performance is a matter of fact, rather than opinion.

My main problem is that the person writing the articles on the Warriors clearly doesn't actually give a sh*t about them. Anyone who follows the Warriors knows that Aiden Kirk is in for Patrick Ah Van, and yet he says that Steven Price is the only change to last weekends line-up. He consistently makes mistakes in his league related articles..
I don't want some Warriors fanboy writing about how "the boys lost but they tried really hard!!" .. What I want is Impartial, accurate, and intelligent reporting from someone who actually cares about the game and more importantly the Warriors.

And don't tell me to harden up, I'm not a little baby who cries when someone says the Warriors are sh*t.. I've been saying that alot myself lately. I just care about how the team and the sport are reported in the Media. Just as I would also like the people who are reporting it to care.

What have quite a bit of similarity? I didn't think I gave any specifics on what he was writing about.

He's actually a terrible writer too. This casserole of words for example:

The club's director of football John Hart knew he had the right bloke when thanks returned to the club from a couple of schools that the 20-year-old and a couple of under-20s teammates had visited in response to invitations to talk to the kids.

I think there was an easier way of saying that Peter... how that got past the Herald editor I don't know, people on here write more legible "pieces" than Jessup.

Jessup has been terrible for a long long time. He constantly gets facts either mixed up or 100% wrong. I've emailed the nzherald often about it but get no response. I might have to start doing it at least once per article because that's how often he makes mistakes.

I'll join you on that, what email address do you send them too?

Democracy in action ;)

Rattue's a RL 'hack' from way back. He is old school i.e. - best sporting memories being weekends spent at Carlaw Park and Kiwi victories.

I think that Jessup is a former RL player and junior coach. I don't mind his stories but as previously stated he does get facts wrong.

It is good to get a balance rather than the usual Warriors 'cheerleading' stories

I always assumed he was a union scribe as most of what I'd read from him up until recently was All Blacks/Super 14 focussed. His work is streets ahead of Jessup. If I screwed up at my job as often Jessup does I'd be fired and that's saying something cos I'm self employed.
