This is a Rugby league forum.

One presumes you are red blooded males who know a bit about Biffo....as the Aussies call it.

What scene have you ever witnessed in your lives....where someone insults a blokes missus to the point where he flexes....and slaps the offending male?

Give me one example in your lives where you have ever seen that?

Total Yank institutional scripted bullshit.

In the real world Smith would pummel Rock If he was angry enough to walk up on him.

Who walks up and slaps the guy then sits down and cops more verbal and just shouts from the seats?

Crap crap crap....Smith is an aging has been in need of a boost and the Oscar's are a dying institution in need of two famous black men to generate some Gervais styled awkwardness to hook a viewing audience for the next awards which no one gives a shit about.

Negro please. That was so staged.

A slap? C'mon that has American wrestling written all over it.

A lame ass Yank attempt at revitalizing a dying white American institution by using the black on black violence trope.

Same driver behind the music execs who promote black on black violent gangsta rap over other forms of Rap.

Which is why Dre embraced Eminen and promoted his alternate white American underclass messaging as a counter to the music industries banking billions on African Americans shooting each other to sell records.

That shit was faux mandingo fighting, plain and simple.

It was pathetic

I ask any of you If you were offended at an awards night about a comedian insulting your missus....would you:

A) slap them in front of the world's media then return to your seat and get verbal like a W.W.E broadcast.

B) wait till back stage and knock fuck outta Chris Rock.

C) walk on stage grab him by the lapel and whisper in his ear shut up cu** I'm serious about my wife or I gonna deck you.

D) Lose you shit and run at rock like any angry partner would and assault him multiple times?

Well from my life of extreme violence...real violence....I can honestly say the slap is the least likely angry response.
You are talking about an extremely pampered man here, who if rumours are true would have felt pressured to ‘keep up appearances’ in defending his wife’s honour- and he ironically did it in one of the campest ways possible. Rocks awkward wtf just happened? then awkward recovery as if he just had the worst heckling of his life had me thinking there was something to it, also the off camera stuff with smith bawling his eyes out.
However with a foot in the staged camp, there are rumours that smith had already seen the joke at the rehearsal and usually the natural reaction when being slapped is to touch your face which Rock never did

The joke about jada wasn't even in the rehearsal. Not sure why Will Smith would be attending the rehearsal in any case.

Who just won award for best actor... 🤣
… and demonstrated it by putting on a good performance with that slap.

You watch the video closely and just before the slap Rock is leaning forward un-naturally with his face out just ready to be slapped…

The power of the slap and the lack of reaction (staggering backwards; holding face; speechless; etc) suggests it was planned. He even started to flinch backwards before the slap happened.

Will Smith posted before the awards he was getting dressed up to cause ‘chaos’… and so it transpired… Big stunt!

He is a pampered man who is from a culture where slapping another man is a "bitch" move.

I don't think so. Even Smith from his Ebony tower knows what the street expects when a brother disrespects your woman.

Everyone on the planet knows.

The whole thing was totally calculated, the awkwardness afterward is exactly what Gervais brought to that event without the faux slapping.

It worked, look at all the social media babble, well played Hollywood.

Just on the edge of "assault charge" .....it was the Trump Wrestling slap all over.

So he's human & his anger or whatever got the better of him. So what, the awards are a wankfest at the best of times...
Don't agree with violence & love Chris Rock's take on things most of the time but am sure its not the first time another black person has been in his face. This time it was public, whatever.
Now, for all his personal issues, Richard Prior was the man...talked about blackness from the point of view of a black man, made fun of it but never got personal in his act about actualalities that could offend actual people. Pushed the bar and got flak generally anyway. That was Rock's mistake...there's a line and imo, he crossed it, as did Smith, but maybe it's about time some of today's comedians think about how far to go.
I don't give a rats about how Smith and his wife live their life, it's none of our biz and there's been a lot about that recently...bit rich when we have on our screens a polygamist & his wives & their lifestyle & issues on primetime, ffs...

Its poses an interesting question. Is a slap the same as a punch? if the players on the field started slapping each other, will the ref interpret it as a punch and march the players off?

A punch by definition is a closed fist?

Looks like Willy has officially apologized to Chris.

Who slaps another man? Other than at wrestlemania.
What man stands there waiting for another man to come up to him after insulting his wife and doesn't move when the other guy goes to hit him?
Is will Smith trying to impress Vince McMahon to kick off his wrestling career?

I dunno, you have to remember that in the history of the Oscars, hell, the history of all of his jokes, Chris Rock has never had anyone come up to him and assault him on stage. There’s no precedent for that, certainly not a huge, generally mild mannered star like Will Smith. Especially when the joke wasn’t even that bad!

Shit, based on that Ricky Gervais should have been left black and blue with some of the shit he said the last 4 years

Imagine if it was Ricky Gervais - actually there is probably no point trying to imagine that, since we live in a world where if a black dude got up on stage and smacked a white dude, he'd probably already be in police custody and facing ridiculous charges. It says something that it happened to a black dude and everyone is just mildly offended, if just slightly bemused.

I've also never understood the desire/attempt to marry the glitz and glamour of Hollywood with the roasting of celebrities. I'm not saying I don't enjoy it - but why does the Academy let it be? Undoubtedly they will play it super safe and conservative from now on...

You have to let celebrities have their special warm security bubble after all.
