Hmm 90s RnB. Anyone remember this number from the Highland Place Mobsters? Used to go off in the clubs......guaranteed to get everyone to shake their thang.....still does so my son tells me.

I remember the group, but was a bit young to remember the song exactly. While I was at intermediate Feel Me Flow by Naughty By Nature was massive:

Some of my other favorites I discovered over the years when I was older are:

Old school hip hop still does it for me, would much rather listen to something upbeat than moody and depressing.

Eminen the biggest rap artist in the world famously given his opening by black Rap Royalty Dr Dre.

Reminds me a lot of Elvis who came out singing black music, gospel and Rock and roll to be more palatable to the US market than other artists like Chuck Berry.

Most serious Academics who study music including Rap acknowledge that the hegemony who control American music were anti black Rap that did not contain tropes like gangs and blacks killing blacks, most white music producers were not interested in black rap that did not contain gang and crime stereotypes.

Like I said, this has been seriously analysed by American academics as just another vehicle for controlling the racist narratives about blacks.

Anyway, Eminem is the white guy who Dr Dre weaponized to change Raps image.

Meantime if you follow social commentary a lot of white Americans post racists post crap about how Eminem is the only artist who you can understand the lyrics.

Well that is bullshit coz those of us exposed to other languages understand black rap artists accents perfectly well.

What's happened this time? Some white guy cut you off at the traffic lights? You can be good value when you're not spouting this stuff.

I like Elvis. I remember my parents dancing and singing to him. Garages with a few beers. Mostly the guitar player and the best singers were Maori. That's this countries history.
