Yeah roman was a mistake letting him back in, a few following him over - but that move to Kura ain't for everyone, culture is different; I know i've been over there for a look and many of our juniors playing there still hang around the club telling us, it's for the $. Trustme Roman ran kura down to the ground to us , and 12 months later lol he bargained his way back in.

We are losing some NYC juniors, people in the 20's set up are telling our kids that same line to move to Howick or Papakura to make them grow - what a load of crap, both money clubs that have no decent juniors coming through. Funny that a NYC Junior said those exact words to us this week at training ,why he's leaving for Kura????? I don't think James Taylor developed much when he moved from Northcote over to Kura in 2012 - he was on good coin that year as well.

Hasn't come from the coach more the support staff I hear, about kids moving around to other clubs,so I'll take that back what I said about Jones last year on here, pushing south players to Pt Chev. Maybe James Bell might come to Mangere and grow more as a player????

Did Roman want to be player coach?
What mangere juniors are still at kura? I thought they went back.

Havent seen the 20s squad yet but wouldnt Mangere have 30-40% of the squad already?
But as long as they aren competiting with each other for spots im sure warriors dont care.

Papakura dont have any decent juniors + James Bell, George Edwards both just made 20s lineup.
But not 100% they might be manurewa juniors.

Would be dumb mover to move to Pt Chev = they already have a stacked team.

Moving clubs is good for a change sometimes(for some) especially if you get to learn from Veterans + quality coaches.
Hopefully Mangere can hold onto a few quality old heads for all the young bucks to learn from.
Thats how you win Fox championships

Eels score immediately after half time. Warriors hit back with back to back tries.

28-18

20 mins to go.

I know it doesn't mean much really, but the performances of our lower grades against the Eels lower grades does nothing to help the nerves.

Warriors get it back to 28-24.

They then let the ball bounce dead from the kickoff for a goal line dropout

Yup, welcome 2014. It's the Warriors.

Eels score, 34-24. 10 to go

40-24. Less than 5 to go.

If we're trying to get all three grades to play the same structure this is hardly an encouraging start.

Having said that, it's almost a completely new Warriors team and we historically take a bit of time to get the new boys up to speed.

Managed to catch the last 20 mins of this game at the stadium. Massive alarm bells at how our boys just threw in the towel at the end there.

Looks like it was a pretty rough outing for Stacey's new look side. I guess with 9 debutants it was going to be a bit of an unknown as to how well they'd come together as a team - but to get 50 put on them... ouch!

Better luck next week, younguns!

Hope Jones sticks with the same boys again shows some faith in his selections from what I hear it was the 1% errors that gifted parra a few of there tries. - the preparation up to the game was positive, just a few of the players were surprised at the speed of the game Parra played it at - these weren't Fox players. The size of the Parra forwards compared to our pack showed,we were the smaller team; hit of the game I hear was former 20's warrior Eric Newbigging on James Taylor - Eric showed up to play and had a point to prove called out a few players to run the ball at him lol.

Those 2 x poms didn't dominate in the middle like you would of thought - they are still adapting to the speed of the game - for there size and experience they should of banged a few of the Parra boys. The Parra polynesian boys used there size and dominated the middle. Bunty Afoa should of got a run IMO best prop in the trials, he can play both ways on defense/attack.

On paper that team is solid IMO maybe the experience factor might of played a part in the score line, you can only see what happens this week.

I'm not so worried about silverware etc for the 20's, for me it's about getting them used to systems, travel, crowd exposure, eg getting a gobful from a hostile crowd, and the day to day experiences of pro football. Winnings good but preparing them for the next level, way more important.

Same.

Which has me wondering what competition we were preparing our first graders for last week

There's a tackle free bullrush tourney coming up at a local primary school in a couple of weeks, looks like the training for that is right on target.

This on paper is probably the best NYC team they have put out in years.
Pauli Pauli made his NRL early last year.
But watch out for Zack Docker-Clay young maori boy - he is a future kiwi half/hooker for sure.

The poms will need time to adjust to the NYC/NRL style of footy.
Afoa will play plenty of NYC - he is probably the best in his age group. Still only 17.

Unfortunately NYC trial against Fox teams - must be too epensive to play NYC clubs.

Wait to you see Bunty Afoa (18 man) at full speed on the kick off, carries that ball up hard - definitely a regular in the 20's IMO - he was the most impressive prop in the trials , put his hand up for a spot , can bang as well on defense.
Had a look at him last week. I like the look of Bunty a lot.

Haven't seen a Kid like this for a long time. He got very few chances in the dragons game.

The hair the hard fast straight Running reminds me of Ryan James at his age. Bunty Looks a similar hard and fast player but at the same age the difference would be Bunty is clearly faster, more explosive , more violent.

He knows how to use his legs , on the Kick return he has that fast piston long stride ( unusual in a prop or a forward who's not a converted back ) good sprint technique without lifting the knees Runs like Manu ( especially not slowing down for the contact part ).

Very unusual combination of natural ability in a Prop forward. If the Warriors keep him in the body shape he has ( I was expecting an Albert Vete heavy set player with the descriptions ) and the way Bunty stays on his toes ( he looks eager out there on defence ) I hope his favorite player is Gordon Tallis lol because he has the physical running style and the lack of fear in his runs to go a long way.

I will be following him now cheers bro. Like some of the Raw ability special kids that come along , I could live with another NRL club snapping him up....some kids you see play for the first time and you take more interest in seeing what can be made of them than measuring them as a Warriors fan.

Physically he is a bit special.
