Recruitment NRL Rumoured Player Movements, Re-signings and Rumour Mill 2023-2024

The Wests Tigers are preparing to offer Mitchell Pearce a two-year deal worth $1.5 million in what’s being slammed a “desperate” move from the battling club.

The premiership-winning halfback left the Knights abruptly at the end of 2021 to join French Super League club the Catalans Dragons.

Pearce turns 34 next week but the Tigers halves, Luke Brooks and Adam Doueihi, have struggled badly this season in the club’s winless start through four rounds.

Was a bit hopeful at the time that we might give Jaxson Paulo a contract when he departed souths from death threats, he’s been great at the roosters and a pretty skilful big body in the backline. Perhaps the people who gave death threats knew he was off to the roosters behind the scenes with the feud between the roosters and the rabbits.

In a major shakeup for the National Rugby League (NRL), it has been announced that Rugby star Roger Tuivasa-Sheck will be signing with the Parramatta Eels for the 2024 season. This news will send shockwaves through the Rugby community, as Tuivasa-Sheck is widely regarded as one of the best players in the game.

Tuivasa-Sheck, who currently plays for the Auckland Blues, is a versatile player who has won numerous awards throughout his career. He was the Dally M Medallist in 2018, and has been named the Warriors' Player of the Year four times.

Despite his success with the Blues, Tuivasa-Sheck has reportedly been considering a move to a Sydney-based NRL team for some time. The Parramatta Eels have emerged as the frontrunners for his signature, and it is expected that he will sign a lucrative deal with the club.

The Eels have been searching for a X factor player to add to their roster, and Tuivasa-Sheck fits the bill perfectly. His speed, agility, and game sense make him a formidable opponent on the field, and his leadership qualities are highly valued by coaches and teammates alike.
The news of Tuivasa-Sheck's signing will been met with a mixture of excitement and disappointment among Auckland fans . Blues supporters will be disappointed to see their star player leave, while Eels fans will be eagerly anticipating his arrival.
In an in house statement released tonight, Tuivasa-Sheck expressed his gratitude to the Blues and their fans, and said that he was looking forward to the next chapter of his career with the Eels.
"I've had an amazing time with the Blues, and I'll always be grateful for the opportunities they've given me," he said. "But I'm excited to join the Eels in 2024 and help them achieve their goals. I can't wait to get started."

The signing of Tuivasa-Sheck is a major coup for the Parramatta Eels, and is sure to have a significant impact on the NRL landscape in 2024 and beyond. hh/ptt.dailyheral

Sounds like bullshit, surely.

Sheck is not the answer to unlocking the Eels attack!

Pinch and a punch!

There is some conjecture over on their forum whether it’s an April fools prank because it was apparently announced last night, early of the time and others saying I’ve heard it announced on SEN. would have thought highly unlikely most likely an April fools prank.

Dolphins coach Wayne Bennett has revealed his interest in signing Jaydn Su’A as the Queensland Origin hitman weighs up his future at the Dragons.

Su’A will be a key man for the Dragons in Saturday’s clash against the Dolphins at WIN Stadium, but Bennett is circling amid speculation the St George Illawarra enforcer may consider a return to Queensland for family reasons.

The development has emerged amid a backdrop of uncertainty surrounding head coach Anthony Griffin and the confronting reality that 80 per cent of the Dragons current roster are yet to be re-signed beyond next season.

As it stands, St George-Illawarra have 24 players that could be available from November 1 this year.

Among the list are the club’s biggest names including Tyrell Sloan, Junior Amone, Jack Bird, Moses Suli, Matthew Feagai, Max Feagai and Su’A.

The bloated list of players yet to commit to Saints could also prove beneficial, should the club move on Griffin.

It would allow an incoming coach to make immediate calls on the roster without inheriting players on long contracts.

The club isn’t sitting idle with discussions underway with winger Mikaele Ravalawa in the hope of locking him down on a multi-year deal.

Ravalawa has an option in his favour for 2024 that he is yet to take up, however the club are hopeful of making progress to keep him at the club.

Jack de Belin has already taken up his option to remain at the club for 2024.

The deal worth about $800,000 ensures de Belin is amongst the highest paid players at the club. De Belin will be 33 when his deal ends.

The rest of the uncontracted players including regular first team starters Moses Mbye, Jacob Liddle and Josh Kerr are yet to receive new deals.

However, Bennett’s interest in Su’A should be treated with alarm by Dragons officials.

Su’A has a long history with Bennett, who gave the 25-year-old his Broncos debut in 2016, threw him a lifeline at Souths and also handed the hard-hitting back-rower his Queensland Origin baptism in 2020.

The Samoan World Cup star is contracted to the Dragons until the end of next year, but Bennett says if Su’A is open to a fresh start at the Dolphins, he is keen to talk to him.

“I would certainly be interested in Jaydn Su’A,” Bennett said ahead of the Dolphins-Dragons round 5 clash in Wollongong.

“From my understanding, Jaydn has another year to go with the Dragons but I have a good relationship with him.

“He was a very good player for me at the Broncos, I brought him into first grade and then I gave him a chance at South Sydney when he was struggling with injury (at Brisbane) and he was outstanding for us at the Rabbitohs.

“If and when he becomes a free agent, if Jaydn wants to come back to Queensland, I’m certainly keen to talk to him.”

It is understood Su’A considered asking for a release last year during a difficult 2022 season for the Red V, but he never formally advised Dragons bosses he wanted out.

Another disastrous campaign this season could convince Su’A to reunite with Bennett, especially due to his family ties in Queensland.

A veteran of 105 NRL games, Su’A said while he misses his family in Queensland, he is content with his football at the Dragons.

“I’m genuinely happy here at the Dragons,” he said.

“My partner is set-up down here, she works at one of the hospitals here.

“We obviously do miss our family. I don’t get to go home too much and that can be hard.

“There‘s obviously days where you miss home.

“But I’ve created a good bond with the boys. I need to play well to get that next extension

Hope you're talking about Fancis Molo 😂 to be honest he wouldn't be that bad but we do have a lot of props with that same body shape. Kerr would be Interesting because he's a bigger body, but man how are we not throwing the kitchen sink at NAS!

I also think Vailea, Berry and Leiataua are better prospects then the twins from St George

Don't know about you guys but does Berry look a bit bigger than last season? Just looks like he's a bit stronger.

I agree the tigers and dragons first grade and reserve grade deserve a look at

Player with Potential at new club with new surroundings, decent coach and on the rise is an attractive carrot

Now it’s us the CLUB and not us the PLAYER

Matthew Feagai’s going to be a gun as a strike centre.

Told my kids their was a big fire at their school had this morning and it was closed until after the school holidays. They spread it on their social media to their friends and even when their friends parents started trying to work out what they were going to do. I thought it was time to remind them the fire started on 1st April 🤣

I'm sure he is! But the warriors are a development club so that signing makes no sense to me. Surely they are only plugging holes when it comes to going to the market now?
He’s played 31 first grade games, hopefully Berry makes it but there’s no guarantees that his development turns into a weekly nrl player and Leiataua is making progress. Pompey would probably be the player that he could replace but it would be a conundrum, Pompey’s defence is much stronger but also Pompey is never going to score some of the tries this guy can. I’ve been a long time defender of Pompey, so would probably lean towards him but if we were looking for a strike centre this would be the guy I reckon.
