Recruitment NRL Rumoured Player Movements, Re-signings and Rumour Mill 2023-2024

Nobody is reading this thread right now.
It is obvious that we need at least one more NRL grade prop for this season. Can anyone give me insight as to why we released Aaron Pene? He would be a great player to fill the hole.

If we want to sign someone of a similar quality who already has an NRL contract we will have to offer them a multi-year contract, for example, Seyfarth. Which is not ideal for a second-string player.

The only reason that makes sense to release Pene is that the Warriors thought they would be able to sign someone better but failed.

1. He was underwhelming & likely on decent money
2. He probably wanted to leave

If we don't sign anyone further to be a middle forward then my starting props would be Nikuore and Addin with Afoa and Ale on the bench. With Ale injury free and looking really good in the trial game I feel that this is a very solid group and if this is the weakest part of the Warriors squad we aren't that bad! You also have Jazz on the bench that can play anywhere in the forwards.

I thought a few times the commentators got James and Josh Kerr mixed up.

A pity the Aussie commentators can tell the difference. We could sign Kerr and have James signed on the down low and have one get tired and come off for a HIA and pass the jersey onto the other one.

Maybe that's why they released the Kepu twin. No we only have one of them playing honest. Then why is his knees no longer dirty and that cut has disappeared.

Twin magic it worked for Ted Dibiase in 1988 to get the world title of Hulk Hogan.

And 2 or 3 of these guys get injured and are off the field for a few weeks?
Tapau was training away from clubland and got a one year contract.
James had been training with the Tweed Seagulls maybe wants to do a Marty

Anyway Defence and I can have a chat to Ryan if concensus builds.
Ryan is a nice guy off the field.

I'm good friends with Ryan's cousin actually. Great family. Nice people. Never met him though.

And if he is retired he will be perfect. Nothing like a retired nice guy to lift the playing morale.

We don't need to get a retired guy :banghead: especially one that is well past their best.

I think he’s doing pretty well in business land mate.

Yeah good on him.
Quality person.
What business did he end up in?
I'm not too sure what he does exactly but believe he has his own foundation and does a lot of work in the indigenous community- won the nrl entrepreneur award last year- I believe hes tied up with the rlpa as well.

It's a hard no from me may be a great fella but played 168 games ran over 100m about 58 times some games barely running over 100m, scored 33 tries, concedes 2.1 missed tackles threw out his whole career, I'd much rather a younger and much more versatile young gun at prop more than anything tbh or Hunt and Dias after watching the maori all stars game those fellas are hearty and wouldn't look out of place in a Warriors jersey
