Recruitment NRL Rumoured Player Movements, Re-signings and Rumour Mill 2023-2024

So the bulldogs apparently have Crichton and have also re-signed burton. Surely they are going to have to release a few players….

Below are mostly based on media reports etc….

Crichton - $900k - $1m
burton - $900k - $1.1m
Fox - $550k
TPJ - $925k
Kick - $850k
Mahony- $650k
Thompson -$800k
Flanagan - $450k
Sutton - $450k

That’s over half the new cap on only 9 players and leaves an average of only about $238k for the other 21 players.

Flanno and Thompson will deffo be gone by end of 2023, which essentially pays for Burton's upgrade and almost all of Crichton's salary.
And I would guess TPJ won't be there 2024 either, so those 3 would likely wipe about 2 mill straight away (assuming Doggies pay a few hundred k for TPJs contract)

Apparently David Fifita to the raiders is going to trigger a huge amount of movement. Just a matter of time apparently.

That sounds pretty exciting - do we risk waiting to see what happens with all the potential movements in the hopes of landing a bigger fish? Or do we crack on with this Liu deal and stick with the safe and secure option

Titans got someone lined up in the mayhem obviously. Thompson and Liu are the types we will most likely get. Hard to know who will perform best, Liu edges Thompson just slightly for mine but I’m guessing he’s older?

Gould took a while to turn the Panthers around. He seems to be following a similar strategy at the Bulldogs. Recruit to turn the top side around while he sorts out the development pathways. It will be interesting to see how long it takes for him to get that part sorted to where they have a team similar to the Panthers which is mainly home grown talent.

The Bulldogs would have the capital to invest and would have a decent starting point as they did a lot on their training environment under Hasler. Mind you that was 10 years ago so some of it would be out of date or need replacing.

The other part the relationships. The Bulldogs are a club that often has drama and Gould can get on the wrong side of people. If results don't turn around things could fall apart.

I could fully see Gould off loading and offering their excess players to us.

Harley Smith-Shields is another local Raiders junior who has good wraps as a Centre. Napping Kris, even without a middle too, would be a great get
